    A few comments...
    1. Thanks for this video. I have a spare pipe in my garage, plus fat grips and spring hooks. PERFECT for what you showed. I have the X3 and my BIGGEST complaints are the bar is too short and the ground plate nit wide enough.
    2. Your ground plate is genius. I suggest drilling 2-3 holes on the pucks and securing them to the plate with screws. Safer.
    3. The genius of the X3 WORKOUT is something you touched on but I want to make certain you understand.
    A. The ENTIRE set is ALWAYS under tension. Never take tension off and never go to FULL extension. 2 seconds concentric and 2 seconds eccentric (use the X3 app with the metronome).
    4. Warm up properly by doing 3-4 band warms ups of the same exercise but with lighter bands.
    5. MUST use VERY high quality LATEX bands that do NOT stretch out after use and are also multi-layered. Safety.
    Looking forward to your results. If one follows the X3 workout protocol and program, they will get results.

      oh fuck that platform would go flying. sounds mega dangerous. I'm going to make a bar just to use for bench pressing. I'm thinking 1" x 48" galvinized steel pipe with some elbows at the end and maybe 1" eye bolts if I can find those to screw them in.

  • @chrisallenworkingoutathome

    The platform needs to be above the ground to let the band slide and stretch underneath. I could have used two 2 by 4's to elevate the platform, the actual X3 platform has a channel cut into it for the band to fit in to. Thanks for the comment.

    Drill holes in the bar to fit the carabiner. It works perfect and for the floor board use a sanding machine or dremmel bit to round out the board ends so as to not damage bands

    The X3 system works even though I don’t agree with everything JJ says. If you do end up buying the system like I did, you will have to treat it like any workout. Progressive overload and working until failure. Along with proper diet. Calorie surplus for gaining weight and muscle. Calorie deficit for losing fat. You may have to do multiple sets even though the program tells you to do only one.

      Unfortunately, with bands, many pulling movements are the hardest where we are the weakest and easiest where we are the strongest. I think a combination of free weights plus bands works well.

    • @chrisallenworkingoutathome
      @chrisallenworkingoutathome  Před 3 lety +2

      2 methods, one is to get a hanging scale or fish scale, hook it to the bands and stretch them out. 2nd method is to put a bathroom scale on top of the platform, and stand on it while doing an exercise, and then subtract your weight. Try Amazon. Thanks for watching.

    Do you have enough stance and ROM on that 15" X 20" board to execute a front squat? Just out of curiosity. Not sure whether to purchase 12 X 18 for portability's sake, 15 X 20, or most likely 18 X 24, allowing a wide enough stance if need be execute front squats on the board (I'm about 6'2", not sure what you're height is).

    • @chrisallenworkingoutathome
      @chrisallenworkingoutathome  Před 2 lety +1

      24 inches would have been better. The front squat was awkward to get into position with the bands. I'm 6'3", or at least I used to be.

    • @chrisallenworkingoutathome
      @chrisallenworkingoutathome  Před 2 lety +1

      The bands are attached to carabiners, or spring locks. I used the Yes 4 All Fat grips to heep them from slipping. Later on I found a way to attach the spring locks to the bar, made a video about that. Thanks for watching and for the question. Here is a link to the video where I attach the carabiners to the bar.

    A cutting board. So smart. Glad I watched this. Do you think it would bend or break with double heavy bands or double heavy bands and some light bands also, getting max weight at lockout closer to 500 lbs?

    • @chrisallenworkingoutathome
      @chrisallenworkingoutathome  Před 3 lety +1

      Thanks for watching, I got the idea for the cutting board from another youtuber, I think I put a link in the description. Your question about the durability of the board might result in a video. The force being applied to the top of the board through your feet in a heavy banded deadlift should be mostly offset by the force from the band underneath the board. Eventually multiple bands would start to rub against the floor, and we would have to raise the board up.

    • @Lurtz14301
      @Lurtz14301 Před 3 lety +2

      @@chrisallenworkingoutathome I was looking for that cutting board but it’s not available on Amazon and I couldn’t find something similar that is nice and thick besides expensive wood ones so I bought a 6 inch plyometric box. The steel ones with open bases. Gonna put the bands under the step, through the base, and got some handles with large carabiners to hold onto them with. The only downside is I will need to do a very narrow stance or single leg moves with it but that was gonna be my main use case anyways.

    • @chrisallenworkingoutathome
      @chrisallenworkingoutathome  Před 3 lety

      @@Lurtz14301 With a single leg exercise you may not need a platform, just standing on the band with a shoe works just fine unless the tension on the band starts to painfully pinch your foot. Good luck with your plyometric box, let me know if you put out a video with it.

    @dandeveny4513 Před rokem

    The bathroom scale is increasing height, to the resistance will be higher. I am not sure by how much but I saw others adding extra height by putting wooden boards on their platform, specifically to increase resistance.
    You can put some string on the bar with a weight, like plumbline, and adjust it with no scale so the plumbline just barely comes off the platform. Now you put the scale on and pull again, with knees a little bent, so the plumbline comes off again, so now you know the band is at the same stretch amount it will be when the scale is removed.
    I like that you used glue, any are screwing them on which I feel is overkill, I guess they think it has to be strong, but the feet will be experiencing very little force, unless you are throwing the thing about the place!

    • @chrisallenworkingoutathome
      @chrisallenworkingoutathome  Před rokem

      You are correct about the bathroom scale. Can't be as certain with the resistance of bands compared to a metal plate .

    Hi, the current version of these cutting boards on Amazon is “cross hatch textured to bead liquids”. Basically, it has kind of a rough surface, which I’m afraid may be hard on the bands.
    Does the board you got have this kind of textured surface, or is it smooth?

    • @chrisallenworkingoutathome
      @chrisallenworkingoutathome  Před 2 lety +1

      The surface does have cross hatches, however is much smoother then the knurling on a bar. Amazon usually let's you return item's, so you could send it back if it is to ruff.

    • @chrisallenworkingoutathome
      @chrisallenworkingoutathome  Před 2 lety

      Thanks for the comment, I'm 6'3". One way to measure the resistance would be to loop the band around a bathroom scale, stand on the scale and perform the exercises. This way you could get a starting and ending number, and just subtract your bodyweight. Just make sure the scale doesn't have a sharp edge.
