I’m pretty sure u can wash AirPods in distilled water. It’s the minerals in water than mess up the metal and everything in the AirPod. So, just don’t use tap water or purified water

When you washed it in water it reminded me of when I was on a cruise last year for Christmas and my mom said she woke up in the middle of the night with her AirPods in her mouth because she fell asleep with them in her ears and idk how they got there but in the morning she told us when we were at breakfast and my grandparents and aunt and uncle and siblings and cousin and sister’s boyfriend were concerned and me and my dad.
I once didn't clean my bluetooth headphones for over a year and they got nastier than those airpods and the sound randomly got super quiet at one point, I cleaned them and it is much better than before. I use Space Series C1 wireless headphones, they're literaly everything described in Raycon sponsors but with more charges, longer battery, smart touch controls, and HiFi
