College student Ethan has been harassed with anonymous threats, and his sense of self and power has fractured as a result. To prove himself and boost his sense of safety he seeks out shooting lessons from a reclusive ex-militia member and survivalist.
Director Arman Cole's dramatic short grounds an incendiary nexus of topics -- gun culture, mental health and more -- in a compelling coming-of-age story about a young man looking to gain a sense of power in a world that renders him helpless and fearful.
The film's subject matter could easily fall into overbearing and didactic territory, but instead the story is rendered with a subtle, understated sense of direction, grounded in complex, powerful performances. The characters -- played by Tyler Young and Dominic DeVore -- are likable, sympathetic and above all human, with desires and needs that are easily understandable. When the film takes an unexpected turn, it's both surprising but understandable, given the richly intimate acting and insightful writing.
The film delves into timely territory, offering a searing look at a subject that draws intense feelings on both sides of the issue. @Yousef Aqel yea exactly, i thought the acting in this was good, but wasn't a big fan of it's very dramatized portrayal of the gun/tactical/militia whatever community that is being represented here lol, cuz Ik anti gun people feel like anybody that is in that space/community is a violent nutjob who lives out in the wilderness, but in my experience, that couldn't be further from the truth, I've only ever seen politeness and patience from these guys when they were teaching people or accepting new people, and kindness seems extremely commonplace imo, I've even seen some "militia"/larper guys before and even they just seemed like some chill dudes who have fun training together and all believe the same stuff about personal freedoms. If I'm honest, I really haven't even gotten "crazy" vibes from anyone. Like it's a stark contrast cuz the vid plays like a thriller or horror movie the whole time with the music and dark undertones of the characters, but then irl, most dudes just be at the range smiling and having fun, enjoying it as a hobby, some people train sure, but even then I rarely see civilian people taking that overly serious and are usually pretty chill for that.

Private sales between 2 people who know each other can occur without a federally mandated background check. So for example if your cousin had a gun you were buying and your cousin knows you're not a convicted felon or convicted of certain other crimes like domestic abuse, the sale is legal. Even then, your cousin can only sell a gun occasionally. If he makes a habit of selling guns it is no longer a private sale between individuals but instead a sale from an arms dealer which would require your cousin apply for and be federally licensed to sell firearms with an FFL (Federal Firearms License). This license requires an extensive background check, fees, etc.
However, if it's two individuals who don't know each other, a background check is always legally required. Two private individuals who are not licensed can sell to each other, but a person with an FFL is required to facilitate the sale and background check of the purchaser. Said background check requires that a person's name, driver's license number, and Social Security Number be provided and checked against the FBI database for any serious criminal offences.
What was depicted in the video is a private citizen selling to a stranger without a background check and is categorically illegal on the federal level regardless of the State the two live in.

Recognising Tyler Young from "Eyewitness", another powerful drama. If this story had a continuation, I wonder where the writers would take it. At the end when Ethan is approaching the burning shed, I half expected to see him be shot by Doninic's character; in so many dramas similar to this kind of story, the cute boys are usually killed.

In many states U can’t buy a handgun from a licensed dealer until ur 21, but u can buy one thru private sales if you’re eighteen and up. So yes buying the gun like this is legal, that’s y the guy checked ID before handing over the pistol.
He bought it legally, he ordered the gun online, but since he doesn't have an ffl license, they wouldn't ship it straight to his door so it had to be shipped to an ffl dealer who would sell it to him.

In short, he didn't want to lose the kid through a failed plan, so he thought it would be better off if he would just kill him on his own or maybe one last shot of act to train his loyalty but well...he fought back...in an unexpected way, like the militia dude did to his commanding officer and he didn't want the kid to do what he did
