Got my R1t on 6/2/2023 and it was a perfect build vin with 24k plus. Good job Rivian very happy with my truck and how you built it!
I got my r1t in December and absolutely love it. Highest quality I've ever seen.
My first electric EV came with a remote control. Fit inside a shoebox even had room to spare for the remote.
I wish Rivian the best. We need more innovation in the EV space and they are doing some pretty unique things. Tim took a huge leap of faith leaving a brand like Nissan to come to a brand new company not yet well established in the auto industry
Traditional manufacturers will crush the ev space simply because they have the experience, workforce, and suppliers. Tesla is only going to be around as a common ev where as we should see plenty of niche products and that's where we will see rivian land.
@@jakefendrick7555 I think they will be bought out sadly by the Big 3 .
@@jakefendrick7555 nah it's mostly the opposite. New ev companies like rivian and Tesla will grow a lot because they have the first mover advantage and brand recognition. Also legacy automakers are moving slowly because they're already invested in their current production systems. Yes the share of the ev market from legacy automakers will grow and Tesla and Rivian will decrease. But currently its only gm, VW and Hundai that have good ev's on the market. Toyota, Honda, ford and Chrystler all don't
also the lightning is junk
i mean super junk
Hope Rivian succeeds. Better competition, better for the consumers.
they just need to get big enough to get to "too big to fail status" and get bailed out infinitely from the taxpayers like all the legacy automakers....
RIVIAN cant Scale or RAMP production.
it does not make own Battery cells or Gigacastings.
@@lucysmith4242 the number that they can deliver next year will tell us that.
I’ve seen 5 Rivians at the country club in Florida. I’ve seen 1 Lightning and it was dealer owned and about 10 Teslas. Either way it’s time to add some charging stations in the parking lot.
Rivian is an amazing company. They are gonna be huge!
As someone who works in manufacturing, a VERY easy way to ramp up production is to speak to the hard working operators and ask them how they can improve production. It's not the overpaid engineers who have those answers, it's the operators who are the ones using these machines. They are the ones who know how to find ways of improvement since they live with the mahcines. On a specific machine I operate, I've made my own adjustments and modifications to the machine to increase production and reduce scrap at the same time. No engineer at my plant figured anything out until me, an operator, figured it out.
If you keep speaking logic and common sense we are going to have to stop talking to you.
Great point, it's usually the people who've done the same task over and over again that come to a quicker realization of what things can change to make everything more efficient.
Engineer here in a production facility for a large auto manufacture and I'm going to tell you that your statement may be the case in your plant or company but is not always the case for every plant company and operator. Our operators are quality checkers. They just use plug gauges every 50 and 100 parts and log it into a system. When the machine faults out they often don't even attempt to fix, recover, or in some scenarios even read the fault. So maybe in your scenario the operators have robot programming and machining background but I doubt there are that many skilled operators in a larger factory where they are struggling to get people in the door
@@JustinWeeces Too bad that these days John Deere focuses most of its energy in inventing new hurdles to prevent farmers from repariring their own Johne Deere machines.
@@lucysmith4242 Rivian has Indian Engineers that don't know the auto industry.
I really hope they do well. Its better for eh population for there to be viable competition and options. I personally am in love with the R1T. Its way better overall than the other EV Trucks even at the price point and if I had the money I would get rid of my gas guzzling Ram Hemi and buy one today!
try the KANDI K32 4x4 off road truck, its only $28,000.
As long as your not planning on using it much!
9 hours to get from Normal, IL to Detroit, MI is insanely long.
It's like 300 miles. I could do it in 4 hours in my truck.
Yea, I'm curious about that too. ABRP says they needed a minimum of 35 minutes of charging for that route. Rounding up let's say an hour. It's approx 6 hours driving, so 7 hours with charging.
Well, I received my dual motor R1T as available within a week of ordering online. Its the highest quality vehicle I've ever had. All the best Rivian!!!
My husband is working at that Rivian plant right now!
You guys should put links to the articles you mentioned in the description. I’d like to read them
7:11 ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤. Love the time stamp u am that old guy that talks to the tv 😂
It makes sense for them to prioritize last mile delivery vehicles over personal consumer. They have guaranteed funding versus just a "maybe people will buy our cars" .
they have a waitlist. People will definitely buy those cars. Prioritizing Amazon shows their influence over the Rivian.
Lol, get a clue buddy, consumers want this, they buying it at a premium second hand right now.
At 6:55 "But this plant has the capacity to produce... 150,000 vehicles a year."
I think you mean "this building is big enough to put in a plant that might build 150,000 vehicles a year, if only it had the equipment, the manpower, and the know-how to build 150,000 vehicles a year."
Would love to see what a rivian sedan/hatchback looks like when they get to that point.
RIVIAN is going BANKRUPT in 2024.
Looks like you had the right idea and speculation based on what they just revealed s couple weeks ago. Good job
My pick up my R1T next week, super excited. I think it's a great product and after driving one, it's very solid! I have owned two Tesla's, one of which we are keeping and love them. Definitely looking forward to having a truck again. Ford and GM need to change and buying something completely new and clean sheet is the way to go. Excited for the EV future!
Still Want A Rivian🇻🇨
Good answer on stability
People have to be sympathetic to the trials and paints it takes to building vehicles, especially when the company itself is a startup. If you consider the fact that the long legacy manufactures have issues themselves, what more could you expect from a startup. Well.. You should expect exactly what you see. You have all new types of vehicles that must work and last the duration of expected use time. years of use. Consider exactly what a vehicles is. its a rolling house , traditionally with plumbing electricity, ventalation, seating and comfort, communication, safety and much much more. and a jigsaw of parts that often must interact with one another. its alot. throw in new technology and new means of manufacturing that in and of itself must pass trials of its own build and quality. Unfortunately people to day are impatient. spoiled. and want everything now.
I ran a marathon with the worst settings on my Ultra 1 and listened to music over my AirPods Pro 2 with brightness turned up all the way, cellular turned on and no phone. I made calls to meet up with friends before the race and used find my to locate them during the race. Truly the worst case of heavy usage. I had some problems so it turned into almost a five hour marathon and the ultra finished it like a champ with 14% left.
5:52 Seeing that ford lightning and it still has a transmission tunnel.
yes, FUD Lightweight is built on a GAS truck Platform.
That's the problem, they didn't build it from scratch but simply flopped a f150 body on a modified chassis.

I still find it funny that Rivian and Ford partnered up, and not too long after the split, Ford had their own version of an electric pickup truck. Coincidence?
Clearly they only bought the company to have possession of the intellectual property. That’s not even a conspiracy it’s pretty well known…
They split up because Ford decided they didn’t need Rivian for the F150
Ford and Rivian have not really split.
Go Rivian!
Yep, let's see how much government money they get before they go bankrupt. Just like solenydra solar.
I think the decision to also cater to electric cars has brought more faith to the electric car industry kudos to the makers
How is front loading the emissions more friendly for environment
As a small investor I think that Rivian had the guts to start with the truck vs competing with TSLA and that market then come back to the small-mid suv. I think it looks better than Ford's and has an edge.
If they want to be successful, they shouldn't hire people from Nissan, especially at upper management
good video
Rivian definitely has great products that are better quality than Tesla sedans. Tesla needs competition anyway, so hopefully some EV company can pull through
Of course the quality is better because they aim to produce 25.000 cars this year. Tesla on the other hand is on track to produce more than 1.000.000 cars this year. So when Rivian reaches such numbers, then we can talk again abt. quality. But at the end competition is good for us consumers.
TESLA has the software and tech advantage, now in days car is more a computer than a car
Tesla also has a great supercharger network which is huge factor to also consider.
@@rajatdixit007 people heavily undervalue the supercharger network. It is such a gamechanger
@@vidainvestor Exactly. Tesla is a software company that happens to build cars
Building cars well and fast is what makes Tesla and Rivian market capitalisations nuts. The large car manufacturers already know how to make a lot of vehicles well and yet Tesla at one point was worth more than all of them. I think you need a video on why can't capital markets value companies properly.
If we had some bacon we could have bacon and eggs if we had some eggs. -- Rivian.
6:10 - Finishing touch
Not a fan of touchscreen operated vehicles, or the problematic doorhandles, but the Rivian truck looks cool. Especially in that green color. Pity it's very expensive, and they can only make a few per week.
Rivian driver here , it’s alright no big deal

byd right now leads in every way
They’ve a long road ahead. Take a look at factory 56 and compare.
Let there be competition! I wish Rivian the best. However, the EV infrastructure needs to be seriously looked at if all manufacturers are now jumping on the bandwagon
It's all pretty silly
there is no Competition, TESLA has 1.6 Million reservations and is producing Cybertruck in 2023.
I can't believe theres so many people buying new Rivians and Lightnings.
The American expectation is to get it right the first time. Marketing needs to stop selling unrealistic expectations and align the company mission with reality as a new company
5:53 I manufacture this inverter for Ford, wonder if I did that one lol
TESLA makes their own inverters and is backwards compatable with all 4 models,
@@markplott4820 I do think our/Ford's method isn't the most efficient, manufacturing wise. Our's definitely aren't compatible between models, thanks to the smallest changes in mounting/connector placement or pipe direction etc which end up needing different machines to produce them - at least the process's are similar enough that training new people across many different parts isn't difficult , but it could be improved overall

What is extremely important not talked about is a charging network. Tesla is the only company who foresaw the need for a reliable mass network. Relying on electrify America is a huge mistake. They are extremely unreliable and slow.
It'd be nice if they made them cheaper and threw in some generators/range extenders - it's happening in europe so manufacturers CAN make the vehicles that are more affordable & practical
they cant, in 2024 Hybrid engines are BANNED from sale.
and 2030 the GAS car is BANNED from sale.
more than 26 STATES have signed MANDATES.
It's insane that we didn't transition for a decade through PHEVs. Instead, we're being forced into EV's with no reliable infrastructure and no gas generator to fall back on. The Out of Spec Reviews video two days ago show how EA chargers will not work in very cold weather. The charging network is pathetic with no hope for improvement.

I like the CEO of Rivian is like "I WANT TO BE THE NEXT TOYTA" and yet their vehicles cost more than any Toyota I know, and they still haven't proven reliability.
It's amazing how Tesla made everyone do this 😂😘
I have the R1S. They need to fire quality control personal!
Will you elaborate? I was hoping they had good quality.
@Shaun A I received mine with a serious gap on the tailgate, rattling door from bass, AC doesn't heat sometimes, and a couple of loose plastics such as a light inside the SUV. I am not the only one with a few issues, and I have never experienced something like this with a new car.
Rivian is so hard to make they are not able to produce in volume. Its something someone should have addressed earlier.
Yes i agree with this point. Tesla went through so much growing pains and simplified their cars as much as possible. Rivian will struggle with this mightily
They lost 5 billion in the first three quarters. Whew! Is SBF on the board of directors?
Rivian has Amazon pumping them cash. Lucid has the Saudi’s money.
A 5.5 hour trip in an ICE is a 9 hour trip in a EV? Horrifying.
I wish a company would make an actually affordable small electric car, something that would only cost100-200 dollars a month, it doesnt need to have many features other then it goes from a-b, no electric windows, basic interior and a radio, I know generally if someone is buying an electric car they are already either middle class or above but frankly i think theres a lot of people who are technically poor(including me) that need functional cars and could afford a small car payment for a few years and that isn't a used one.
Batteries are extremely expensive so that won’t be happening anytime soon.
@@TeamKevin31 you dont think an ev can be made and sold for 20-25k? what a shame. even if it didnt use a lithium type cell? plenty of new types of batteries in the coming years.
@@mikew735 it’s possible but no manufacturer will create a 20k ev. The profit margin would be laughable
Renault Zoe? 2019 model 300km range... my girlfriend bought for 20k....cheap, and good quality. They have been produced for many years and proven that they are reliable.
Your best bet is to find a Chevy Bolt and get it in January because the Bolt will likely be eligible for at least half the new EV tax credit.
You can tell Rivian is cheaping out by seeing YALE / Hyster forklifts inside. That has made me not want to buy a Rivian.

Great #tesla news
I'm waiting a few more years to pull the trigger on a Rivian because there is at least a 50/50 chance that we will see Generation II of battery technology, i.e., Solid State. IF that happens, and a lot of big, well-funded companies are working on them, the current Lithium-Ion battery technology will be obsolete.
Just buy it now. Tomorrow is not guaranteed.
I think you’ll get your wish in 10-15 years. Battery technology just keeps getting better.

The only way EVs will truly be better for the environment is if the batteries and rest of the body get recycled. Good thing that batteries are +90% recyclable from the hydrometallurgical process and plenty of companies are building massive battery recycling plants such as Li-Cycle.
The really Really bad thing is that most people are Absolutely HORRIBLE about recycling all other household use products and don't even think it affects the environment at all.
Please learn how to recycle PROPERLY and then recycle everything that you can. Thanks ♻️🌳🌍🌲🌎♻️

If Rivian had the self driving software that Tesla's have I think they would be a lot more successful as their build quality is better than tesla but tesla has miles better software in terms of their autopilot and or self-driving.
I wouldn't say rivian would be MORE successful, since the market for large SUVs and trucks isn't as big as that for smaller SUVs and sedans, but I already see rivians on the road on a daily basis, so they're certainly getting somewhere. I've also started seeing the occasional lucid air as well.
