I’m still jamming my Mag 17” CRT and enjoying 720P from a couple feet away.
Same difference as viewing 1080P on my Panasonic Plasma 54” from 5-6’ away.
Reminder that Lilith made Graf Zhal so mad he outright wanted to ban the creator, all because "IT'S NOT THE INTENDED WAY TO USE THE ENGINE REEEEEEEEEE"

The Spooktober Community Mappack is a really good wad to play on Halloween and some of the maps are pretty scary
Is one of them just a remake of _PLUTONIA_ MAP11?

True that. The only problem i had with Doom64 is its ambient soundtrack.
It is so sleep-inducing, that i can confidently call it "Anti-Doom". I literally
fell asleep multiple times, playing it on the N64 back in the day. Can you
imagine someone falling asleep while playing Doom? LOL Well, true story.
I did finish the game eventually, playing it in small increments and
switching with a friend. Other than that, the game was a blast.

Ok but imagine if someone re-created Attack The Block in the Doom engine.
With the right source port, you could even have the monsters' mouths illuminating the areas around them!

I know I'm being Cpt. Obvious here, but having watched your content for years now, the quality of this series has skyrocketed. Both in editing and commentary, never did I expect to actually look forward to each and every piece as I do. Thank you for being here Icarus and for showing people the magic that people bring into this 20 year old classic.

I'm mildly disappointed that you didn't even briefly mention that Alien Eradication's gameplay mod can be played with other Doom mapsets, where it has some devious surprises in store xp. Also kinda surprised you didn't at least briefly mention Mortis or Shut Up and Bleed, or any gameplay mods for that matter

I was actually expecting you to include The City of The Damned : Apocalypse, as it is still the first spooky mod that comes to my mind among others. It stands out of the crowd, I'm sure of that, and is one of the first Doom mods I'm gonna try out once I'm setting foot on the Doom-mod-land :)

Solace Dream, Ghoul Forest and Lilith, just for these three this list is already perfect.
Honorable mention for Ashes 2063? It's primarily a shooter and action than mod than spooky, maybe, but it has some adrenaline pumping moments for sure and the atmosphere is excellent.
More a survival/post apocalyptic rather than "horror" but i see your point. The two are sides of the same coin

I was expecting you to review Total Chaos! I think this stand alone version is also a Director's cut version, with new items and new levels.
Once upon a time I had the pleasure of reviewing Unloved, back when /newstuff still had active map reviewers. I praised it for its visuals, and it wound up winning a Cacoward (the Doomworld community's annual "Best of the best" in the modding community). There's a lot of stuff to kill on the higher difficulties, though.

Nice use of the Scream Fortress stuff
I don't know if it was ever finished? But I remember playing a demo for a mod called S.U.P.E.Rnatural that I loved to pieces. It had this huge, sprawling hub world full of nooks and crannies to explore, notes to find, and a secret level that I never did managed to find. It did a great job at building this suspenseful and eerie atmosphere, as you wandered through this old military base and the surrounding wilderness, dodging these weird and unkillable monsters.

This time you've got a whole setting and it gives story to HTC1 & 2, written by me. All in a cohesive manner, that sets the whole HTC series between Doom 2 and Doom 64.
New guns, new enemies, new levels. And perhaps some trips down memory lane...

Lasting light is really good doom 2 mod alternative for horror jumpscare amnesia like, and it's universal with all maps wad/megawad so you can play with your favorite doom map wads :)

The pacing of the voiceover sounds like you're reciting poetry. I keep expecting it to rhyme.
Total Chaos was awesome, I played til after the first big boss, it just came at a time I was getting sick of FPS games and DOOM Mods, I had been bingeing mods for months, Golden Souls 2 also fell prey and I still haven't gone back and finished it...
If you have a small part of yourself that is a masochist, and you like survival horror... Its amazing.
EDIT: Also I just wanted to thank you for this vid, you've added a few maps to my ever growing list of DOOM WADs which I will probably never finish.

Instead of a silent hill it kinda goes more on inspiration from resident evil.

I think the Steam version of Unloved is worth a second look. I have been playing the heck out of it and it has become one of my favorite games. It has been regularly updated and I am guessing it has changed a lot for the better, for example the animation do not seem janky to me. Just a though. Although I agree, the super shotgun probably needs a buff.
If someone showed me Total Chaos and said it was a 2005 horror game,i'd have believed it no doubt....it's surely going to my list

Hey mr icarus I have a doom mod suggestion for you it’s a mod called slayers rampage, it takes elements from doom 2016 and I believe some elements of doom eternal it’s a really good mod you can play it with any map pack you choose, another on is called shadow hell it’s really dark and ominous it has a lot of monster variants not sure if it’s a single map or not but the gameplay is really fun
This mod is really good I'll bring it any week on Sundays to bring the Gameplay mods from doom yes I love this game I'm an Android fan I make Gameplay every day

You forgot the Resident Evil gameplay mod called Factotum and using dark doom on maps to use flashlight mechanics with weather effects. Put those two together with any map and its like playing ps1 horror classic bliss.
