Finland's Christian Englbom certainly caught everyone's attention with this Triumph routine at the Genii convention. It was created after a challenge from Juan Tamariz to create the cleanest, most natural looking Triumph effect possible and we think he solved that in spades! One moment he spreads the deck to show a complete mix of face-up and face-down cards and then with no funny movements, he spreads the deck again to show that all of the cards are face-down except the selection. It's that clean!
We know that magic trailers don't always give you a full performance so opted to film our own. We had Christian sit directly in front of the camera to show us just how good this looks. And as you'll see, it looks fantastic!
The method is unlike anything we have seen before. There are no difficult sleights, misprinted cards, or strangely printed gimmicks. This is a new approach to the classic plot and it may well become the way that many of magic's best perform Triumph.
Comes with gimmick and online instructions.

I finally got this and the method is brilliant, beautiful, clean, and ridiculously clever, but I have a complain about the gimmicks, mainly because the faces of them don't look "real".
If you correct that in a 2.0 version(maybe), it will become a magician fooler.
This is just my experience, but I performed this yesterday for a group of magicians and they were fooled for a second, until they saw that "thing" about the gimmicks, although I wrote to Christian and he told me to just show the backs of the gimmicks, which is actually a pretty good way to cover the "thing".
Great product and it absolutely made it to my top 5 favorite triumph versions.
    1. Kostya Kimlat's RR cull triumph
    2. Asi Wind's double exposure
    3. Dani DaOrtiz's open triumph
    4. Christian Engblom's pieces
    5. Classic Dai Vernon's version

I've been playing with Pieces for a few days, and I love the effect even tho I don't like to work with gimmicked decks or parts of the deck.
About the question N° 3, even tho you can use the gimmicks with any deck, it doesn't look as "clean" (the handling must be more careful to not flash anything), mainly because you can't build these gimmicks out of an ordinary deck of cards, so you can't camouflage them that much, which is something VERY important to consider. If the borrowed deck is a red back bike, then you can perform it without any problems.
About being angle issues, if you want to hand out the deck to be inspected, you CAN'T perform surrounded.

when you say it can be adapted to any deck, do you mean we can make our own gimmick? because from what i know of it it may be hard to do

Good question. It is possible to perform standing up, with small, but not difficult changes.
However, it was designed to be performed on top of the table, either sitting or standing.
If you wish to perform a vertical triumph version, I recommend studying my Brother Dani DaOrtiz' "Open Triumph" version. It too was born out of the same challenge by Juan Tamariz.

why does he say in the trailer of the trick that he uses a borrowed shuffled deck of cards, but it is actually gimmicked?

    • @themaggot8

+Eran Bellaiche As far as I know, the move is that you borrow a deck and put the gimmicks in right away.

You can use a borrowed deck, with the gimmick you get its best if you borrow a red bicycle deck! but its not a big deal to use your own deck, have the spectators handle the cards, shuffle and perform some other effects with the deck before you prepare for this effect!
