I agree that his performance is absolutely beautiful and he has an incredible voice, I remember crying while he was singing when i didn't understand a word about what he was saying. But let's be real, would he have won if people didn't know about his state of health ? Frankly, I'm not sure.
As for dancing, it also contributes to showing your singing skills, because it shows that you're enough of a good singer to sing and dance well in the mean time.

You don't need to understand Portuguese to feel it.. it is mesmerising from beginning to end even when you have no idea what is going on. Portugal's record-breaking victory.
    - By earning 758 points overall in the grand final, "Amar pelos dois" became the highest-scoring entry in the history of the Eurovision Song Contest.
    - "Amar pelos dois" is the only entry to top both the televoting and jury voting in the second half of the 2010s.
    - In the grand final, "Amar pelos dois" received at least five televote points from every participating country.
    - With 382 points awarded by the national juries, "Amar pelos dois" broke the record of most jury points ever, beating Sweden's "Heroes" which received 353 points.
    - Portugal achieved the biggest winning margin of the decade and the second biggest of all time, scoring 143 more points than the runners-up.
    - Under the previous voting system, "Amar pelos dois" scored 417 points, surpassing Norway's "Fairytale" which scored 387 points.
    - Also under the previous voting system, "Amar pelos dois" received a record of twenty combined sets of 12 points (televote + jury vote), overcoming the eighteen maximum scores collected by Sweden's "Euphoria".
    - Thus, from a combined vote perspective, Portugal received 12 points from Armenia, Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, Israel, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Norway, San Marino, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Ukraine and the United Kingdom.

In a world full of bling and tech and show off, he stands on a stage in a simple outfit, accompanied by his talent only, and leaves the audience speechless. It went directly to everyone's hearts. The song is also genius. It captivates and brings you in a whole other dimension. It's like the world stops or slows down for a little while. Still coming back to this moment after the show is over. I'm a 12 years old portuguese girl and I cant believe how many people who dont even know this languege can apreciete it... I personaly come to tears when I hear this song because, not just the melody, but the words are just so soft and I feel like I'm flying like I have this inter peace.. this is a grate man and rwiter, this is someone that made history... And I'm proud that I can be part of his culture...

I don't understand how this video can have this amount of dislikes! Why? Because is sentimental? Because is not pop? Because is in portuguese?

Personally, I dislike the fact that the singer was really dismissive of his competition, claiming that his was the only real song.

I’m portuguese, I cry every single time I listen to this song. I sob like a baby, but the best moment was when I showed this to a British friend and she didn’t understand a single word. But sobbed with me when she heard it

yeah, this song is really a masterpiece, such a sad and love story for who understands the lyric, also really good compositional wise, and the singer has embodied it very well.
really emotional and great song without all the bells and whistles. music at its essence and not being pretentious.
    very well done Portugal.

I absolutely love Portugal, Portuguese language (which I learned to speak fluently), and music. I dreamed about them winning the contest one day, and Salvador made the dream come true. I'm so happy for him and his lovely sister, they are the inspiration for creative people.

This wasn't my favourite song because it doesn't fit my taste in music, but you know, I still think Portugal deserved to win. Real music with real feelings by a country that has always peformed badly in Eurovision before this, and peformed in their own language (which is a beautiful language)
It reminds me a lot of Norway's ''Nocturne'' in 1995. Just a completely different song to what we expect to see in Eurovision, real music that touches the heart.

"has always peformed badly in Eurovision before" ahah you are funny. We had already good musics that could had win the Eurovision but in those times we were nothing, without any power.

I admit I didn't understand why this song won the first time I heard it. I was surprised for it. But, after hearing it again, I have to say that it was amazing. That's what music is about, I think. Thanks, people around Europe, for having a better taste in music than me, at least the night I criticized this song.
