    I'm just amazed how our broadcaster can send great songs to Junior Eurovision and win back to back and struggle so much to put anything above average for adult contest.

    I love The Ride. No huge world changing message, good beat, nice voice, retro vibe, upbeat, positive. LOVE LOVE LOVE IT 😇 the points are criminally low. Rafal isn't riding to the final, but he has taken a ride to my playlist and is one of my most played songs this year

    unfortunately Rafał is not playing a character, that’s how he always is

    • @lanvin1982

      oh he's playing a character. The one NOT chosen by the Polish public. Asslicking can get you far in today Poland. And he's the living proof of it. Shame on Rafal.

    The song itself, I kinda like. It's a bit repetitive and generic, but I do like that 80's feel to it. The biggest problem for me is Rafal himself. Dude literally has charisma of a wet cardboard. And he's whole appreciate just gives me strong "How do you do fellow kids?" vide. If literally any other person sang this, I would like it more. And I'm still not over Alicija. 😭

    I do love this song. It's in my top 10. I was born in the 90s, so I don't really have a reference to the 80s life, but in a year where so many countries are said to have this influence, this is the only one that I would say really transports me to that era. I listen to this and I feel alive, I feel energy, I love the music and the lyrics and it impacted positively in me since the first listen, and it's still growing for me. It's a definite yes for me, and regardless of what happens, this is gonna be one I'll be listening to and coming back to after years.

    A MelFest reject song that wouldn't have cleared the first round in 1985, with a whiff of Will Ferrell's Fire Saga-esque parody, sung by the Polish answer to Stephen Mulhern who was chosen last-minute in suspicious circumstances, and who is universally scoffed at by his own country.
    What a car crash.

    I like how they say that him being popular is a positive even tho it is a negative for him, because a lot of polish people don't like him, just look at the music video. 34k dislikes is not good, with only 18k likes, its not good. Being a Pole I wouldn't vote for my country this year. I voted for Poland every time I could, but not this year. TVP learn, and if you don't learn, just send good songs for junior Eurovision and win a couple of times and I'll be a happy pole.

    I m seriously sick of you guys talking about polish diaspora EVERY YEAR? if you don't know what to say then say nothing, but please stop saying the same thing, other countries have their diasporas as well and so what?
    Every Eurovision Song contest I hear... 'polish diaspora will get the song to the final"
    yet we haven't been in finals in a few years, so clearly this is not the case.

    Clara Rubensson's vocal, on the original Swedish demo is far superior. It gives the song that bit of an extra 'spark'. I suppose it's the difference between a proper singer and someone just phoning it in. The female vocal really suits the 80s vibe of the song. Shame Clara didn't use it herself, at Melfest :-(

    Slovenia = 2.5
    Austria = 5.5
    Denmark = 4.5
    Portugal = 5
    North Macedonia = 5
    Italy = 6
    Croatia = 2
    Georgia = 4
    UK = 6.5
    Poland = 6.5 - I can’t tell if I unironically like this song or not, I feel like I genuinely enjoy it but I also constantly clown it whenever it comes on, I guess I can’t take Rafał seriously lol. Being serious tho, I love the 80s vibes in this a lot and the visual aspect with the neon lights is pretty cool, but his voice and charisma.....not quite my favourite. Rafał manages to turn himself into a complete meme but honestly the performance he did on the voice kids wasn’t bad, I actually thought his vocals sounded better live.

  • @AmaanStorm
    @AmaanStorm Před 3 lety +3

    For me it just doesn't go anywhere. It's like a long aimless journey down the motorway with no real destination.
    I do love the aesthetics of the video. The neon is a real modern take on the neon obsession of the 80's, which really does work with the 80's sound. But for some reason the 80's sound sounds like it wasn't intentional and it was down to the cheap production that makes it sound out of date.
    Listen to Raylee's 'Heroes', Stefania's 'Last Dance' and Svala's 'Paper' for an authentic, successful modern take on the 80's sound. The production sounds expensive in comparison to this. Its like someone stuck a huge vacuum in and sucked all the charisma out of the song.
    Bland.

    I disagree with Lucy respectfully. Denmark's song is not better than Poland's. Denmark's is like a bad entry from 1987, so dated.
    Poland's is generic, but the synthpop melody is a catchy tune and one which I think will stay in voter's minds. I think it fuses contemporary and '80s very well.
