Stug III Ausf B's, (note the gunners viewports above the driver's visor, removed in later versions), with full Winterketten track extensions. Bet the boys in the trench are happy they're not going with the Stug's.

Yeap stugs III where very reliable a good gun did the job. Micheal wittman the biggest german tank ace started in the stugg he killed like over 12 t34's with the stug in one day by himself... that stugg didnt betray him.. he became so profound that he was pushed forward as an example how to use the tank amd personally decorated by hitler himself.

Yeah, I thought they were converting them as fast as they could by this time, apparently not though. They were up to the Gr38Hl/B by then so it still would have had c100mm pen at 30deg at any range you could hit. And if this was taken around the time of the fall of Stalingrad- these might have been gunnery school guns a few weeks earlier.

@@quan-uo5ws Really. The the film that exists of a PzIVF being converted from L/24 to L/43 in a open air workspace only applies to PzIV and not StuGIII? Never thought about it since it would seem to have been easier to replace the Stug gun than the turret mounted one.
      Interesting.

(by 1945 there were very few remaining) They mostly diding upgun them as the short barrel version was still useful as infantry support (Which germans still valued since they kept producing the Panzer III N in 1943,) plus there were rather few short barrel Stugs produced before the Ausf G entered service (90% of all Stugs produced were the Ausf. G, which came with the long 75 as standard)
