yea those shots, may not be lethal to the chest, but think the typical intruder would suddenly find somewhere else they needed to be.

I'd be tempted to go with a 50/50 mix in the Nest. Enough rat-shot to get the intruders attention, and enough LR to REALLY get their attention! Or, get the nest that shoots 4x .410 shells at the same time. Load it with 2x slug and 2x buckshot.
They produced a video in .410 a year ago.
with the 410 load all shot, a 4 shot works great, minimum penetration of walls, but at close range it will rip an intruder.

Here in the extreme south of Brazil it is 33 Celsius. I envy you guys, I hate the heat.
I live in california, it gets up to 115 F in the summers which is about 46 C
the only reason you hate the heat is because you havent had the opportunity to freeze your azz off, once you freeze your azz off you dont mind the heat...
There was a different channel that tested these same CCI "shotshells", but in 9mm and 45. Neither one would cycle a semi-auto handgun, and neither one made meaningful penetration into ballistic gel.
Here's a thing to consider, too, the 45 ACP out of a Tommy gun sometimes struggled with German Pea-coats in WWII. The 30 Carbine did a little better, probably because of better velocity. Anyway, if a 45 ACP can be spotty through a lot of layers of heavy, heavy clothing, then "Rat-shot" will be notably less effective.
Still ... I definitely do not want to receive any of this, even with multiple, multiple layers of clothes.

The shotshells are 1/15 oz, so 18 of them would be similar to a 12 guage in terms of payload. So you could just load 12 ga with #12 shot.
This would be a good test to put these beehives against. The increased barrel length probably gives a very substantial increase in velocity though
Besides the cost of a behive. I wouldn’t pay that price. Otherwise I would love one!

There is So much I want to talk about here. It's the perfect set up to compare 5.56 vs 9mm for wall penetration testing. 18 40 grain bullets fired at once is like a 720 grain bullet being shot at 1150-1250ish fps. Making it equivalent to a shoulder fired 500 SW mag. It's going to thump hard if you don't squeeze it to the shoulder tightly. I like a bladed stance for high recoil rounds. It allows for more leaning into it.

5/8 is mostly for firewalls and commercial building's 1/2 is for houses 3/8 is for trailers and manufactured homes and 1/4 is for curved surfaces arches and bends

Loved the video! As for temp here in northern Minnesota it's 18 degrees F. The coldest I've seen in my lifetime is 40 degrees below zero. And yes if you spit, it freezes before it hits the ground. Keep those videos coming and take care.

In my opinion you'd have to be rich to afford that rig and forward to shoot specialty rounds out of it but that's just me everything in Canada firearms wise is way more expensive and incredibly regulated or prohibited in this case. That's why I appreciate so much what you guys do because I'll never be able to touch any of that stuff

Oh and it’s definitely not a “specialty round”. Snake shot or Rat shot is incredibly common (in the US) and as I understand it’s available in Europe (I don’t know to what extent).
Honestly I’d be quite surprised if it wasn’t available in Canada? It seems so common to me.
It’s really impractical and adding a bunch of them you don’t help things. But it’s about 15-20 grains of birdshot at like 500 FPS. It’s not anything you want for home defense (or most other uses). This guy is a bit delusional with his thinking. This stuff is definitely not what I would call “lethal”.

Everything overpenetrates unless you have people in between to stop/slow down the projectile(s). Police and military have figured out that 5.56 (with the right ammo ) is the best solution. The only caveat is hearing protection. If you light one off in a structure without it, your hearing is F'ed.

If you want your walls to have significant bullet resistance fill them with gravel rather than insulation.

Holding heat or cold is not a bad thing in winter holding heat is great in summer holding cold is amazing you can always make your outer walls thicker to have regular insulation as well.

I guarantee you it will be pathetic!!! Snake shot only penetrates 1-3” at best. The .22 load is probably 1-2”. That is roughy equal to .5-.75” of penetration in a human body.

The rat shot load would probably be deadly not because of penetrative power, but because the sheer overall kinetic force would be enough to break ribs or snap necks if aimed at the head.

Hey, just load up a 6 pack or 30 percent 22. And or add some mix see if you can keep it between the walls.
Don't know if you guys going to see this but if you do, hopefully works out in your best favor. So if you're going to do ballistic Joe, I recommend buying one of those skeletons you can get online, put it inside and put with it a balloon full of like red dye. So by doing so you can show if it breaks bones and if it hits the balloon it punks your organs makes it more realistic to what's considered lethal or if you can't do that, use a shock pad

Imagine if he loaded six of 22lr in an MGL or better yet if you could get it to function an MK19. 6x18=108, 108 22lr rounds as fast as you can pull the trigger six times.
The rat shot sounds perfect. I can only dream of trying to stop someone with a gun that is trying to kill me. The rat shot is sure to piss him off and if he's not wearing a shirt it might even make him bleed. Over penetration or under penetration? I will choose over, but I would move my truck first. Those 18 rounds bumping into each other are going to go anywhere but straight. For now, I can only hope people are doing more research before they put their life at risk.
Needs to make a revolver of The hornet's nest that holds six of them fully loaded maybe like pump action to rotate it.

It's about 35 degrees in central Michigan today. I had a 22 magnum revolver with 6.5" barrel and the first ammo I found for it was 22wmr cci shot shells. At 7 yds the little bbs bounced off a piece of paper and all came back at me. They wouldn't even take the label off a bottle of powerade. Not sure what they'd be good for but probably not much. It's cool but I don't like any chances being taken when I need to shoot someone. They either get shot with lethal intent or they won't get shot at all. Same reason my shotguns have buck shot in them and not bird. If I need to use it and pull the trigger it needs to be able to stop them asap. If I have the time and ability to take a risk letting them live, I could also probably just run away. Idk just my thoughts on this subject.
If you fire a shot shell through a rifled barrel, you will get a doughnut pattern. Whatever you aimed at will get the leas amount of shot. This effect of course is lessened if you shoot at point-blank range.

Dear Research and destruction channel. I sleep with my bolt action 308 under my very long “my pillow” at night, and being in the UK I live in a brick built house. Could you check to make sure I don’t damage next doors TV next time I accidentally pop a round out when I’m polishing my barrel. You shouldn’t though. Take into account how cold it is outside and what they might be wearing. FBI did a study years ago and said a leather vest and denim jacket would stop a 9mm. Apparently why they went to 10mm then .40.
Iowa man, it's freezing, and I walk 20 minutes each way to my classes. The weather is super inconsistent, so some days I get pleasantly surprised with moderate weather, and some days I regret wearing my thin jacket.

Think I will stick with something off the shelf. 12 gauge cut shell bird shot. Aims like a slug and explodes like a grenade on contact so there's no over penetration.
