  • Hey! Welcome to #caravanchitchat
    We decided to give a #fullyservicedpitch a try on our recent trip to Devon. It’s the first time we have ever tried one, having recently purchased the required equipment, so how did we get on? And did we think it was worth it?
    Hope you enjoy the video, and thanks for watching!

    A little tip I found works is I put a marker pen line on the top of the float stem as it comes out of the aqua roll so I know the floats the right way up,so if you tighten it up all in the right position it should be in the right place every time you put it in 👍

    • @CaravanChitChat
      @CaravanChitChat  Před 3 lety

      Now that’s a simple but very effective idea! Why the heck didn’t I think of that! I’ll give it a try, thanks Steven 👍

    Good to see another site has installed fully serviced pitches. We use them on every holiday and have done so since our second holiday 9 years ago. We always use our own onboard facilities. I'm sure once you get the hang of it you may be converted. The drainage point certainly is a design flaw. Enjoyed the video. All the best. Rob

    • @CaravanChitChat
      @CaravanChitChat  Před 3 lety +1

      Hey Rob, yes we use our own facilities more now, only the odd shower has been used on site. So much easier using your own. I dare say serviced pitches will become even more popular now

    Great tips. I bought two 7.5metre food grade hoses and a adapter to join them and a double splitter for the tap so I can fill the toilet flush or even wash down the caravan. Thankyou once again

    • @CaravanChitChat
      @CaravanChitChat  Před 3 lety +1

      Yes the double splitter is something I need to get! What a great idea, so much easier to still be able to use the tap. Thanks for watching Mark, take care mate

    Have found old washing machine outlet pipes work really well. Just push the number required together, and push into the combiner. Also works out a lot cheaper!

    Nice pitch. I have noticed a few caravan sites where the drain is higher than the pitch, but if you can get water to flow up hill, there's no problem😂. We normally go for a standard pitch, but as you say, if you are showing every day in the van, then fully service all the way. Stay safe and enjoy the season👍Mark & coral

      @CaravanChitChat  Před 3 lety

      Cheers guys yes it was a nice pitch, and yes you’re right about the water. I just thought it would drain much quicker if it wasn’t having to go up hill lol take care both, thanks for watching 👍

    Another vote for the Colapz drain connector, it is fully adjustable and will sort your wider spaced outlets perfectly, they just work like all Colapz’s stuff… 👍🏻 😉

    If we're only going away for a night or so, I wouldn't bother, or if a peach of a site doesn't have posh-pitches, I wouldn't let it put me off, but for a week+ and if we're showering in the van, we'll go fully serviced. Same setup as us mate. And the same as you, I realised that you have to get everything tight on the aquaroll/float thingy or it weeps slightly out of the fitting! Glad to see its not just me that uses a watering can to prop up the pipe so its got some sort of downward slope to the grid 😀 We had the same Y piece, but ended up going for the Colapz waste pipe double adaptor; works a treat now. We only have the tap on a bit, enough so it fills as much as its used then turn if off when we go out. Like an awning too, the first time I done it, it was a proper long winded faff but now, it just all clicks into place in no time. Cheers for this one and a great setup vlog 👍 Martin & Jo

      Hey guys! So great to know it wasn’t just me and you’d experienced the same issues 🤣 I must admit that after our fully serviced pitch in Tewkesbury, I’m pretty much sold on them now and will try to book them going forward 👍 thanks for watching guys 🙂

  • @ExtremeMotorhomingAdventures

    Nice video Aaron. It’s very rare we book Super pitches and fully serviced but if we do we’ve found the Colapz pipes perfect 👍🏼 Since being forced to use our on board facilities ( due to covid restrictions) I can honestly say.. I love our shower 🚿 the only time I use on site now is if I’m washing my hair!
    Definitely good point about the thing being high up on a kerb.. what?? 😮🙄 Now that’s being a numpty!! Cheers both 😃 Michelle and Andy 🚐😃👍🏼

  • @rayhodges5482
    @rayhodges5482 Před 3 lety +1

    Bollard not in the corner to stop people from hitting it and the kerb is to contain the waste water/water from leaking all over the grass by the side of the pitch making it easy to clean down and to aid mowing the grass.you can insulate the pipe with pipe lagging and a jacket for winter use

  • @Waterman-tg2zr
    @Waterman-tg2zr Před rokem

    Regardless of how much you turn the tap on, it will eventually come to full pressure, the pressure is only reduced when you turn on a tap/shower inside the caravan for that period of time only.

  • @TheCaravanNut

    You know me….fully serviced all the way! Our float seems to work which ever way we put it in, gave you and excuse to phone me up for a chat 🤣
    Yes the kerb doesn’t make sense but good use of plastic bottles. Think the Tewkesbury waste was on the same level, can’t remember really 🤔
    Hadn’t thought about using the water connection during winter, will have to convince Angela to go away over Christmas first! But it’ll be reet 🤣

    You can;t help yourself can you, all you have to say is "stick it in" 😂I've got one of those Aquaroll kit things somewhere. Our Bailey's waste pipes weren't that far apart from memory.
    What you need is a waste pipe of wisdom mate, that'll cover those spaced out waste pipes I reckon...
    Lovely weather you had there!

      @CaravanChitChat  Před 3 lety

      Haha you know me mate, any cheap gag 🤣 yes a few people have suggested I can move the waste outlets over so I’ll have a look at that. We were really lucky with the weather to be fair, but paid for it last weekend 🤣

  • @huwfish
    @huwfish Před 3 lety

    You can get a set of rigid waste pipes to fit your van as a two into one. The reason your waste pipe goes up the kerb is that your not sited close enough to it. The 3-4 foot gap is why the waste goes uphill. Turning the tap only a quarter turn doesn’t affect the pressure, only the flow is reduced. The pressure will build up just the same if the tap was fully open.

    • @CaravanChitChat
      @CaravanChitChat  Před 3 lety

      Hey Huw, we couldn’t get any closer to the kerb otherwise half the awning would be on the block paved drive, so we wouldn’t be able to peg it down! Greats tips on the other bits though, will bear in mind going forward! Thanks for watching 👍

  • @Brooksontour
    @Brooksontour Před 3 lety

    That is a bit daft having a step up to the drain 😊 Could you fit a Colapz flexible pipe into each outlet and then join them a bit further down? We like a serviced pitch but are happy to use non serviced too, In winter you might need to insulate your aqua roll and turn the tap off at night but we never have yet 👍

    • @CaravanChitChat
      @CaravanChitChat  Před 3 lety

      Hey Ann. Yes it’s not the best idea but I guess it keeps the pitch fully clear of obstructions. I must admit after our Tewkesbury trip I did start to really like being on a fully serviced pitch. Maybe just as a treat sometimes 🤣 x

    First time next wk on a serviced pitch, does the aerial cable going through the window to the tv or into the locker as we have a tv point there?

    • @InverhavonRailways
      @InverhavonRailways Před rokem +1

      Connect the ariel connection to the external SAT socket using an adapter, then plug the TV into the internal SAT connection. Works well

  • @hackettdavid
    @hackettdavid Před 6 měsíci

    Hi where do you run the TV ariel cable into your caravan.

    • @InverhavonRailways
      @InverhavonRailways Před 2 měsíci +1

      I usually use the SAT sockets to connect the external ariel cable and fit F to ariel adapters to each end. Saves running cables through windows etc. There's no need to use the on-board booster as the SAT cabling bypasses it.
