Hmmmmmm.... I rather try local food and just snacks for trip
I know this might sound stupid because I think its stupid. Anyways I am going to Ghana in two days and I got all my vaccinations and my yellow card. When I went to the doctor to get my vaccinations they told me a list of things I can and cannot do. One of the things they mentioned was that I couldn't wear sandals or open-toed shoes to Ghana because of their parasites. But I am so confused like really confused because there are parasites everywhere in the whole damn world. I Know that they might have different parasites that I am not used to in America, but still a parasite is a parasite. Another problem is that my mom is telling me that I should listen to the doctor and just not bring sandals, but a part of me wants to bring the sandals and the other half of me I don't want to disobey my mom or the doctor. Could you help me out here?
You should look where you are walking with open shoes because there is bigger risk to have unpleasant parasites. Mostly those are living in dog poop or similar but can carry to far away, also to beach. Look a little bit how much there is dogs and cats. Ask from local people. Just week ago one person I know got a "nice" work from Thailand and it was moving under the skin at feet about centimetres (half inches) a day. She needed just medication not operation. Walk if you like but take care of hygiene and careful if you get some scratches or similar
