I total my sinking funds/bills for the year and save for that the year before as one line item on my goal chart. It makes it seem, at least, more manageable. You introduced me to sinking funds, and I appreciate it! Once we buy a house, we'll be able to have a slowed down year like you and I cannot wait. One day!

Good luck with your goals! I’m in Tampa and there is at least one dog wash membership place here that I’ve seen. Seems like a great idea in general!

1. Save $10k toward a house
2. Save $100/month towards gifts/christmas
3. Save $50/month towards a potential bond for when I inevitably move (don't plan on moving any time in the next few years)

financial goals - travel fund, getting a car (probably on lease) and house downpayment - in that order!
I’m going to be doing a no-buy year. My goal is to pay off credit card debt. I also have an HSA for 2024 so I want that fully funded. Once I can see how much I’m able to save each month I’ll be able to see if I can also set up a backdoor Roth.
I also want to fence in my back yard
sounds like a fence sinking fund is in the works!
I haven't set my financial goals yet 😬 but that will be the priority this weekend. Love the idea of saving up for a milestone birthday! I'll turn 35 in 2025 sooooo *finger on chin*
We have the Banfield Hospital wellness plan (in addition to pet insurance) which includes annual dental cleanings. Hope that helps!
Question: how do you cope & handle with financial pressure? Other than the general answers of going on getaways/vacations, gym. More of the mental aspect of handling with pressure.
I ask, because I'm going through pressure and not sure how to handle it with my mental health.
I follow you because your real and I can relate to with similar experiences.
well I burnt out after 5 years so clearly I don't cope very well lol but in general, I find it exciting to accomplish my financial goals . I think what I'm learning though is to not put too much pressure on yourself to accomplish things quickly - that's where my stress comes from.
Whew. I have some things on my mind for mine but need to get them written down. The biggest is that I'm changing jobs after almost a decade. I'm moving to a job that pays less but is in an industry I'm excited about/less stressful. So with that, I have a goal to manage my commute and lifestyle spending more (I'd reached an income where "treat yourself" was far too often -- lol!)
Outside of that, my new job requires me to be in office a few days a week, so I'm looking into dog daycare. I'm sure that will be the biggest expense bc my dog is a ball of anxiety and needs a facility with lots of experience.

The dog wash subscription sounds great! You might want to look at it being mobile rather than brick and mortar, and you might be able to get it started sooner. I started budgeting with cash envelopes last week, and while it is tedious, I am more disciplined when the cash is not in my immediate checking account. Best of luck!!

My main goals this year are to 1) pay off the remainder of my cc debt and 2) save for a home downpayment. I have sinking funds for travel, car maintenance, etc but those are already budgeted. Here’s to a successful 2024 for everyone! I’m rooting for us!
My 2024 money goal is to continue to save to pay off my student loan and save for a year sabbatical in 2025.
We just saved up for a electric car and now next big thing is a big very nice green house/ orangery wher I can build up a landscape with exotic plants nice seating areas, one that can house at least 30 guests. I also want a fireplace and a small stream running through and on top all the plants that I love and that can’t handle the Swedish winters! My dream project of all! 🥰

Dog wash subscription is amazing but idk how feasible/sustainable it is because you can only service a number of dogs per day and hiring more people will just cost more. I've been dreaming of setting up a grooming shop as well because my dog always look weird af after grooming and I'm like "fck it I'll do it myself" hahaha
I still haven't done my yearly financial setup but it was great in 2023, my real estate tax, medical insurance, car emergency fund, and pet emergency fund are fully funded for next year! Bad news (well not yreally) is I maxed out my travel fund last year because I revenge traveled.
I use Lemonade pet health insurance and they are amazing! You upload your receipt from the vet and they pay you the same day. 🎉

You should look into FIRE for a financial goal..I think you’d love the challenge/inspiration and it’s very on brand w. the ability to “f off” lol once you hit it!! 🎉☺️👏
the FIRE movement never really interested me. Plus I don't think I'm in the right mindset atm for such extreme savings.

Hi Aja! If you have a vet you can trust you can see if they can work with you on pricing so that you don’t need pet insurance to keep screwing you over. My dental insurance is terrible so I just talked to the dental office and I get 15% off everything

I have Pets Best right now. I combined it with my car insurance for a little bit of a discount.

How often are you doing dog dentals? It’s not done or recommended to be done that often from anyone I’ve been to.
I used to work for a veterinary dentist and I believe the recommendation was every six months just like humans. But they acknowledge this is really difficult so at least yearly.

top financial goals this year include, one, raising my income to start, and two getting my debt paid off, as well as starting an emergency fund. thankfully I'm not in major debt compared to the average american i would say, so i think its an attainable goal.
Im saving more money than ive eve made in a year to pay for bar school tuition. Ya girl will need a slow down next yesr 😅

Hi, I'm pretty sure she won't read my message so whoever's been following her for a while. Does anyone know how she saves these funds? As in does she have separate bank accounts or is it cash? I'm a little confused about what to do about this. I don't want to keep cash at home and stuff envelopes and looking for advice on the best thing to do regarding savings accounts.
I had animals all growing up, dogs, cats, and even raised Guide Dogs for the Blind. You definitely never ever need pet insurance haha! I have ever even heard of it..
