    Now I need to go back and see how many videos you’ve posted that I hadn’t seen. Looking good Greg.

      LOL! I don't know what YT does, but if an account doesn't post for awhile, it will disappear from the feed. All good Chad!!!

    Getting that dent out is definitely a game of patience and perseverance

      You're 100% right. There's a little detective work that is involved. Sometimes that kind of fun too.

    nice work on the heat'n and a beat'n. Anytime i have ever tried that, I just get it oil canning on me and mangle it up!

      It's def a timed event. I was slow on the draw for sure. I should have been able to get there in fewer shrinks, but its hard to drop the torch, pick up the tools, etc... I just need a helper!

    Very cool in the 90s I had a shop called creative customs. We specialize in 912s and 356 is mostly panel replacement and rust repair . People Took a lot of liberties with these cars back in the day before they were valuable. I sold the business when I met Andrea and pretty much walked away from the Porsche brand. I plan on buying a newer one here soon I try to buy the old shop car from Arness the 356 supercoupe. Rebuilt the motor for it at the shop it had Fumio cylinder heads on it custom-made pistons by J&E CP Carrillo supplied the connecting rods needless to say it was a sweet piece. Ended up in a garage with bicycles on top of it and garbage I tried to buy the car for several years. Recently scooter told me that it was bought by a place called the car bar here in Orlando . One of the guys that I worked with at R and S went down there and put a valve spring on it for them I think they want like 500,000 for it now out of my budget lol I did offer 250,000 for it don’t know what they paid for it but I think it was much less than that . From what I understand Frank passed away and the car got auctioned off after the owner passed away. Can’t wait to see you finish this car and drive it I hope you make a road trip and another epic video. I have no doubt in my mind that you will complete this project to perfection always good to See a video

      Thanks Darrin. I know I've seen you work on 356 motors, but I didn't realize you worked on the bodies too. It seems A LOT like the Ghia in some ways and a lot different in others. I am heading to KC later this week. I am going to have a full week to work on the floors. I want to get as much roughed in as I can before I pull it back to Colorado with me. I need to take this car on a road trip when I get it done.

    Awesome job! Would be cool to have an explanation of that the different hammers help you with and the different techniques you use them with (hitting the whole face flat on, hitting with the edge, etc)

      I started making a video on removing a dent start to finish... I'm in the middle of it. I'll either add that piece in or I'll make another video on just hammers and dollies. Great idea.

    Zinc primer makes the weld a little bubbley. 😁

    • @GregsGarage
      @GregsGarage  Před 11 měsíci +1

      It does for sure. I'm working on a couple experiments where I grind if off the immediate weld area so the welds are MUCH cleaner... The whole thing is probably overkill, but we want to give these repairs a fighting chance. Most of these cars were garbage by the mid-80s, so they only lasted 15-20 years... I'd like to get another good 25 or so out of this one.

    Told you I learn from every video you do. I never knew how to shrink like that

    • @GregsGarage
      @GregsGarage  Před 11 měsíci +1

      Oh man! Ron Bales, my bodyshop teacher, taught me that technique. He used the shrinking side of the hammer, but I don't like the surface it leaves. I've never had any issues using the smooth face... If I were faster or had a helper I could have done it in a smaller number of shrinks.

    • @LilDoggy
      @LilDoggy Před 11 měsíci

      @@GregsGarage I’ve seen my dad heat around it and use a hammer as a heat sink.

    • @GregsGarage
      @GregsGarage  Před 11 měsíci +1

      @@LilDoggy I haven't done that. I do use a dolly sometimes behind my work if there is an area that I don't want to get too hot. It seems to work pretty well to control the overall heat.

      Maybe! LOL! That little piece of metal wanted to move A LOT. I was trying like hell to avoid the ruffles potato chip edge!
