      Yeah, Guitar World really isn't for classical guitarists. They were writing to their audience, I suppose, but they should probably label their "best of" list more accurately. When the "purists" they speak of so dismissively are basically all classical guitarists, it shouldn't have been called a list of classical guitars.

    Its crazy that this 2024 list leaves out the brand new Cordoba stage traditional which runs circles around any of the Godin's for the price difference as well as having accurate classical measurements. Definitely not a great list and glad you agreed as such!

      Hey man! Yea im curious (besides the price difference) how the new stage compares to the godin grand concert🤔

    The first classical I bought was believe it or not, an Ibanez. But it got to be a very heavy guitar to play. I had an opportunity to buy a secondhand introductory level Cordoba guitar. And I love it much more than the Ibanez. At some point I would like to graduate and get something like a C7. I don’t want to go too crazy expensive because I’m really more of a hobbiest than a serious student or performer.

      @ForTheClassicalGuitarist  Před 4 měsíci +1

      That’s OK a C7 would be a great guitar for any hobby player, even though at the more advanced level, they are great guitars

    Your own closing evaluations were the best. Guitar World would do well to have you write the article.

      Thank you so much for the compliment. I plan to do a follow up video with which ones I think you should buy.

    The only thing missing from the list of these guitars is a pedigree, you know what famous player played one and on what recording. In the 90s I had a guitar made for me by a local luthier (my guitar teacher at the time). It cost me $1500 CDN. Today considering the materials it is made of I was told it would cost $10K to build. I always get compliments of how great the guitar sounds by other classical guitarists. And here is my point, (and I am sure it is yours) don't rely on gearheads for advice on the guitar you should be buying, get feed back from the classical guitar community. Furthermore there are many really good luthiers building good guitars and at reasonable prices, who's guitars will be better than many of the guitars on this list. If you are lucky there could be one in your city.

      @RobertPhillips-guitar Před 4 měsíci +2

      The pedigree on these guitars is impossible because the truth is no serious player would own any of them, except maybe the Yamaha as a beach guitar.
      I always steer my students away from any classical guitar that has a pickup unless they really need one for gigging because every dollar spent on electronics is a dollar taken from quality construction or materials.

      @@RobertPhillips-guitar The pedigree bit was an attempt at tongue and cheek. A friend of mine plays electric guitars and I swear he only bought the guitars he has because of who's played that particular model to record with or used in a concert. This is not the preferred way to select an instrument.

    First comment ❤
    When I was out on the road for 4-5 days at a time I wanted to purchase a classical I could just leave in the truck (not even in a case) 😂
    I had gone to the local music store and tried two Yamaha C40II guitars and was very impressed with both of them. I ultimately ended up buying a banjo instead though 😂
    This list just goes to show how all these big guitar manufacturers have Guitar Magazine in their pocket for advertising LOL.

    The Yamaha NTX3 and NTX5 are fantastic for jazz and bossa nova, because of the slimmer nutwidth and cutaway. They aren't designed for classical. I personally like their tone better than similarly priced Godin Multiacs, but that is subjective. But they are better compared to Multiacs than to classical guitars

      I’m sure they’re good guitars, but this list specifically was talking about classical guitars, so it seems silly to include them in my opinion

    I just wanna guitar that will make me sound like I can play.
    I've been fortunate in having a desired love of beautiful music, but tortuerd, by no talent. Fortunate in having many guitars through out my life, tortured in losing the ones I felt comfortably trying to play.
    i had my 1st, a nylon cheapy in the early 60's from a Tiajuna shop at 5or6 yr's of age. Lost it in a moving storage sell off in 66 or 67. Had a few others given or sold too me as I got older. In the mid 70's, bought and tried out a ephiphone 12 string,, loved tha sound,, but couldn't grasp chords even with many paid for lesson's. In 1996 I bought the most beautiful sounding guitar I ever had just mulling around in a pawn shop in SanAgelo, Texas looking for tools. I had to have it, leting the tool search simmer. Without a case,, I got it for $100. Recently 3 years come this July, I lost it due too a Forest Wild fire. Could have been "stolen or consumed", don't know. Everyone Ive ever known who Could play,, tried to barter buy or steal that guitar though they had very popular Martien's, Ovations, you name it! The best thing for me about it was,, I actually could play something, anything I desired to MY satisfaction on that guitar. I believe it had a speacial kind of spirit just for me. I've bought others since, trying too duplicate that inspiring feeling and wasted my money.
    Oh,, it was an ashland elect/ acoustic
