- CGI Effects in movies that were so good, you couldn't tell it was fake, include Captain America in the MCU movie "The First Avenger!" Subscribe to our channel: goo.gl/ho3Hg6
Many movie fans have love/hate relationship with CGI. During its early days, the new technology was a fascinating way to introduce effects and create classic cinematic moments like the character of T-1000 in Terminator 2: Judgment Day. Then it seemed like movie got lazy with CGI use. Effects were poorly made, people were taken out of the story, and productions were not as impressive. In today’s world, it’s hard not to see a movie without the use of CGI. The best films are the ones that have the ability to make CGI look seamless. What we are seeing on screen may be fake, but it blends into the story so well that it’s believable.
There are ten incredible examples of this fantastic CGI use. It ranges from cinematic classics to some more modern hits featuring superheroes, tigers, monsters, and entries in the Star Wars universe. These movies contain some obvious cases of CGI, but the brilliant designs and creations come in areas where you don’t even realize CGI was used. Water effects, animals, whole cities, and space ships are just a few examples of CGI that was created. Watch to see these scenes come to life and learn how the impressive movie productions pulled these dazzling effects off.

Screen Rant It's Robocop.
Shit.... I'm toooo late... LOL
Screen Rant robo cop
Screen Rant I'd like to say the corridor scene and the raptor scene weren't cgi
Screen Rant robocop
I think Doctor Strange should be on this list. Doctor Strange CGI was ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE!!!
Videos & More with Nick i agree dude..
Videos & More with Nick I totally agree with you
Videos & More with Nick I also agree
Yeah Doctor Strange and 2012
Videos & More with Nick The video is about how good it is, that you kinda forget it's CGI. Not the best CGI in movies.
Wait so gravity was CGI?! Who knew....
go help some settlements preston
Pff who didn’t know that at least they actually went to mars for the Martian
"And then those with CGI so good you don't actually realise computer effects were actually used"
*as Avatar is playing*
Oh wow I totally thought Avatar was filmed in another planet! Damn it was only computer effects?! Never knew! Wow totally surprised!
Stfu dumbass
Has everyone forgotten about doctor strange? O_o
Coolfire02 Minecraft , OW & More! I was going to say the doctor strange weird opening scene where London goes awol
Coolfire02 Minecraft , OW & More! Rewatched dr strange the other day for the first time since I saw it in the cinema, incredible CGI, absolutely mind bending
Coolfire02 Minecraft , OW & More! i was gonna say also im ur 100th like
Oml no that's one of my favorite movies. I was drawn to it because I'm a huge Marvel comics and movies fan and Buffulo Cucumbersnatch (One of my favorite actors) and was hugely overjoyed by how well done and beautiful the movie was.
The greatest use of CGI of all time has to be Davy Jones from pirates of the Caribbean. I didn't know until years later that the entire character was CGI, not just his face.
I thought it a mask with puppeteering.
Yes! I was about to say that!
The only thing that is real on Davy Jones are his eyes. They kept them because they couldn't capture the emotion they held or the blue colour.
Zander Bruh the eyes aren't real either. They almost did use his real eyes, but the cg was on point.
Well, he does have an actor.. They used his facial expressions and built Davy Jones' face on top of his with CGI.
Very disappointed that Gollum didn't make this list. That technology made it possible for some of the mentions here
TheCephalon "At the time" tho it was the best to date which is what this list is about. Anyone who didn't get goosebumps during the "scitzo" scene doesn't have feelings 😜
Is it me, or did the Jungle Book look unbearably fake at some times?
Tech Gator yes thank you someone sees it to
Yeah I agree
Yeah
I feel like they overdid it st times. It was kinda cringy
Dude, where is Doctor Strange?!?!
Ikr
Norvious ikr
Because we already know that they weren't real cause it was a superhero movie
Totally agree
farts Deez Nuts um one yes because dinosaurs are real
forest gump is the best to me ..it was 1994 when technology was just on the rise but nowhere near what we have now & it looked like it was made in present day..
Next you should do "Top 8 Planets In The Solar System You Didn't Know Existed".
I really like jurassic park and sometimes I like to think it's real just to have that experience in my head about actually being there :D
you mentioned the cgi of rogue one, but not cgi Tarkin?
Oh boy, when I think great CGI in movies, I think of Forrest Gump.
The Blondie LOL iknow that movie
The Blondie I haven't watched that yet
Pirates of the Caribbean has many too :) thanks for making this. As a vfx artist people complain about the 10% of bad effects they see and aren't aware of the 90% of invisible effects happening every shot
I’m just now understanding what goes into cgi and it’s absolutely amazing. I’m so into movies now because of it
The 'Scorpion King' in The Mummy was the best CGI ever created in the history of mankind. It felt so real that I pee on my pants when The Rock appeared.
haha it was so bad wasn't it, i guess that's what small budget does to your production
I recognise sarcasm, it is tried on me frequently. That said, I can not think of any film of its era that inspired the 'awe' of special effects that "The Scorpion King" did of its time
RatHead Master HAHAHAHAHAHA!
Even better than Ghostrider??
What a bout every animated movie in history.XD
Where is doctor Strange!!!!!!???
Although I loved doctor strange, but it's special effects were very similar to inception, and since inception is already on the list, it will feel weird to have doctor strange there.
Similiar to inception? :D Wau.
ProGamerAnshul RIGHT!!!!!
ProGamerAnshul ya
Finally someone remembers to add Cloverfield to the list, thanks.
Ummmmmmm were is doctor strange???
Adriana Reyes this was a long time ago.....
Pugsley GT
Pugsley GT 1 year after doctor strange

Can you do '10 Repeatedly Screen Rant Videos We Ever Made'.
ObiTrailers that's what I've been saying in the comments for ages. Like 3 times this week I've said in the comments didn't u just do this video 3 weeks ago?
Your video and it's content is so lit!
Some of the best CGI I have ever seen has come from the Duncan Jones' "Warcraft: The Beginning". The orcs are immensely impressive, as are the environments and creatures. It all really feels like the fantastical world of Azeroth many gamers know and love.
I'm a simple person. I see Captain America, I click.
Paige Theresa yo
Here we go
Round the
Paige Theresa MULBERRY BUSH
WOW IM FAMOUS
Paige Theresa 24 likes isn't famous
[Xolt] Samohtliu it's a joke lmao
I don't think the I Am Legend CGI was THAT bad. In fact, some "bad" CGI can actually be taken as a stylistic mistake.
Christian Santos nope
The Alpha Keyword: SOME.
Christian Santos dude, remove the H from your name and you have my name
Christian Santos they were really creepy
District 9 had the most convincing CG I've ever seen.
Don’t tell everyone how much CGI is in Star Wars now. They want to keep their delusions intact that it’s still all done practically.
I love when people praise The Force Awakens for its practical effects. Sure it had some, but the vast majority of that movie used CG effects, not practical. It was just well-executed CGI.
themetalstickman thank you! I’ve been saying that for the longest time.
Come on. Really, who DIDN'T know the thin Steve Rogers was CGI?
It was all too obvious, for more reasons than one.
errr, most of the time it was was chris evans face on this guys body
qph.ec.quoracdn.net/main-qimg-67fc235bd7e99a9f55f6fff1ce41aa03
true.
The only reason my best friend wanted to see the movie was because "I can't believe that dude lost and gained all that weight".
I had to break it to her lol.
I think it looks convincing like if someone didn't know who evens was they would think that was a real guy just skinny
Legion Ivory you could tell it was CGI because it had to be, not because of the cgi itself. That's what the list is getting at you assuming bitch
Forest Gump got me
Salman Mehmood grump not gump
...no, it's gump.
THE READING HAT TRICK no it's gump
THE READING HAT TRICK I meant gump
IT'S FORREST GUMP
That Captain America: the First Avenger stuff looked soooo real
The before “Captain America” was easy to see it was CGI. I knew it was CGI because as you should know, Chris Evans is muscular as hell.
I feel like CGI has consistently failed at imitating life, but always does a great job for backgrounds and static objects.
I know that you sort of mentioned it when talking about Avatar, but I think Titanic deserved a spot on this list. James Cameron did some amazing things during that movie to make the ship seem as real as possible and he blended the practical effects with the CGI seamlessly.
You missed interstellar which was praised for it's visuals, including the fact that it won multiple awards for production design and visual effects
I honestly never realized Capt America was a CGI. I never saw this actor before.
Magnic, wasn't she the Human Torch?
Potato Thrall He * and yes he was
You didn't notice he got taller as well as bulked?
Keats P Keats Gaining muscle does that
Guffaw
No Harry Potter? Buckbeak was AMAZING! And that's just one example! Then there's the guy who has his nose digitally erased for several films... ol' You-Know-Who...
you people really need to watch the making of the jungle book, its really AMAZING. THE boy playing the ROLE of Mowgli should be honored with an OSCAR. such a talented actor.
some of the jurassic park cgi still amazes me to this day
didn't even know that I Am Legend had cringey CGI. I thought it was good
lol jar jar looked beter
they also said gravity had good cgi and that was just horrible.
true. it was an amazing movie.
Gunnar Hanson I loved that movie no cringe worthy parts mostly sad hint hint the dog
Gunnar Hanson yeah that rlly pissed me off
Where is LOTR 😟
Lord of the rings
Lurd Of Teh Reings
The first movie that really amazed me was THE GHOST AND THE DARKNESS. There is one scene where you see a lion jumping up and eating a guys head! I must have stopped and paused and done slow motion on that scene like 20 times! It is absolutely amazingly real looking!
Tarkin from Rogue One was pretty damn amazing. Not to mention young Princess Leia
Interstellar > Gravity.
Robert Brookes Hell yeah
Robert Brookes i agree, but both are amazing
Robert Brookes Interstellar is so boring, its legit like watching paint dry.
Robert Brookes I got u to 111 likes lol
Nathan Knight Gr8 B8 M8
i honestly thought avatars were real, and the planet they lived on. Never came to mind it might be cgi
Oh man its the best of all.
Undifinder qa
Captain America as a teenage boy is completley convincing , he is real .I don't know how they did it but it is truly the most impressive piece of creative computer imagery I have ever seen
Inception was the first movie where cgi blew me away completely!
how could you miss Terminator 2 Judgment Day!
The Jungle Book CGI was the best!
Puff Poff debatable
But in the movie you can see at the most random moments an animal's ear will twitch and did you SEE the beautiful scenery and every animal moves in it's own unique way and help I think I'm obsessed.
CGI may have been good but the movie was aweful!
What I love about mo cap is how you can still indentify the person underneath - I knew when I saw the trailer for Planet of the Apes that it was Andy Sirkis under there, and King Louis in Jungle Book looks, moves, like Christopher Walken. The eye knows
Avatar was so amazing. I didn’t believe it was made in 2009 looking back today. I hope the next three movies are as good!
You missed Kong skull island, that film had some amazing CGI like if you agree
HyperMC and Docter Strange
Kong skull island hadn't come out yet
Ella Sparkle it came out like two weeks ago...
Javier Muriel Coscio she means it hadn't come out when the video was made..
Arielle Civil the video came out today dumbass
When he said Avatar, all I could think of was
AVATAR THE LAST AIBENDER!!!!!
Lana Shululu I
Lana Shululu lol
AVATAR THE LAST "AIRBENDER"
you forgot the R
Which also had good CGI.
Pretty decent CGI in this infinitely terrible movie.
At special effects there is two directions you can go: make it seamlessly blend to actors and enviroment or make it so impressive that audience is simply stunned by your technical mastery. Jurassic Park is masterpiece of first school and Rogue One is masterpiece of second school. Resurrection of Peter Cushing is so good that if you didn't know it would fool you.
TRON LEGACY DESERVES A SPOT. The whole thing was in in cgi world
we realiy on cgi too much, i feel like movies that use mostly to only physical effects are the most authetic realism movie you can see like the alien movies, its much scarier seeing the studio built to look like a ship than to see the actors standing infront of a green screen acting scared
koolerpure agreed
robocop of course
10 screen rants videos so good, you couldn't tell one of his videos(like this)didn't put doctor strange and harry potter
Gravity was beautiful. Rogue One was beautiful too. The Last Jedi did also a great job.
It's robocop?
of course its robocop are you kidding me its an emoji of a robot and a cop
Hubert Gagnon lmao
Hubert Gagnon I thought it was inspector gadget
I thought it was cops in space.
I thought it was I, Robot
Dude you forgot Transformers
nah he just realized how terrible the transformers CG was
Transformers looks like obvious CGI
Because he really thought the robots were real.
You forgot superman Henry cavil mustache 😂
I think that the CGI in Dr Strange was amazing
The kid that plays in the jungle book goes to my old middle school. I met him on my last year about a year and a half ago
Cool
cool!
Woahhhh
I don’t believe you
So?
I hope to god they were joking about Captain America's CGI
Rouge One was the best by far! Watch Rouge One then A New Hope right after . It’s really fun and so cool how the CGI looks 40 years later.
Jurassic Park is legendary I still watch it.
Where's Godzilla?
Stephanie haha funny joke.
+Synikal Awe, thank you < 3
That was real.
robocop, i guessed that instantly and i havent even seen the movies... hahaha
Some of these genuinely look better than real life...
I forgot how great Forrest Gump was for its time.
As soon as you put up those emojis I immediately said robo cop
For proof I did not watch the whole vid yet
shaneyb999
Buts that's not proof you just said that you didn't so it isn't proof it's just a statement..
shaneyb999 true
I'VE NEVER HEARD OF 'Cloverfield' BEFORE AND NOW I WANNA WATCH IT O.O
Agar PlayBD me too 0..o
You could at least give SOME credit to the marvel de-aging thing
How about some Before and After footage?
didn't even mention the cgi tarkin and Leia in rogue one

1. man of steel

Javier Muriel Coscio yes they are shit lol
Sourin Satpathi hobbit bad, lord of the rings awesome
Sourin Satpathi Harry Potter
daemanj ikr
where is Matrix?? those were great too!!
Nah, not really. They aged badly.
Verhoeven1980 finally someone with good eyes 😂😂
But its still cool thou
Um... no.
For 1999 and early 2000s
The first thing I thought of when the Statue of Liberty head rolled was, “Shouldn’t it be bigger?”
I would have never known the animals in jungle book weren't real
I want to be an actor when I grow up... but wut the hell is the fun if I have to sit in front of a green screen all day
you wont for a lot but it is extremely dependent on the role and genre so i wouldn't worry too much, but hey you never know.
Well, one can always became a theatre actor. No green screen there ;)
Djsj Nidjdj don’t be an actor it’s over rated if you want money and fame do something else that actually takes education and will fulfill you at the end of the day. Hollywood was built on broken dreams.
Just know that most actors don’t start off acting in superhero movies or those who need cgi
Jaime T You kind of just destroyed his dreams....
Chappie,District 9 soo underrated, should be on the list
In my opinion avatar (especially for when it was made) was one of the best cgi quality movies ever. Still is. I’m excited for the sequels
thumbs up if you love the jurassic park movies
The best comparison is LOTR: The return of the King vs. The Hobbit: Battle of five armies. I despize the last Hobbit not only for the lack of story, but because of the shitty CGI
Where is Transformers???????
Paula Mead it’s clearly fake
That new Lion King movie looks REALLY good. It was made by the same people from the jungle book, so it makes sense.
there are just soo much more.. Kong : Skull IslandEvery Avengers moviesLord Of The Rings, HobbitThe TransformersPirate Of The Carribeanhuhh, there are just soooooo much more
Moooorrree than likely anyone would be able to tell Captain America as a solider was cgi
BoneStudios15 exactly especially since we seen him on fantastic 4
Zanyah 17 right exactly
BoneStudios15 a lot of people have not seen fan 4 along with not knowing who evens is I had no clue myself
Bulink you most be really young.
Zanyah 17 lol I just straight up forgot about fantastic 4
The Wolverine Nagasaki scene felt very realistic to me.
District 9 , that movie really surprised me ...
the corridor in inception in real though. the built a cilinder that rotates
a lot in the kitchen scene in jurrasic park is also real, most of it are puppets
And men in dinosaur suits.
As it was getting close to the end, I was like, "If Avatar isn't in here I'm going to be majorly pissed." Luckily they added it in the end. I need to rewatch that again.
It's too bad the story and message sucked, i ended up rooting for the humans in the movie.
The movie with the highest box office in history has a story and message that sucked? really?
Actually, it was Gone With the Wind that had the highest box office in history.
with inflation
Yeah, so? People love hype, the 3d experience was hyped not the story nor the message.
The cgi in jungle book is really amazing
...what is the background music in The Jungle Book video? i love it.thanks
Really?! Captain America was so obvious
Super noticeable
JoJay Shakur it is
JoJay Shakur i couldn't tell tbh
it looked alright
I didn't recognise Chris Evans when I started watching Captain America and had no idea there was any CGI on his character. I am particularly unforgiving when it comes to CGI (half of Watchmojo's choices I think are bad CGI) and, now I know this is CGI, you're right it is obvious. It is obvious when you know it's there. It's like Peter Cushing in Rogue One. If you were a kid who had no idea that Peter Cushing was dead then you would probably be entirely convinced by his appearance in Rogue One. Whereas you and I know he is dead so we're looking for the imperfections in the image.
Dude sounds like Miles Luna from Rooster Teeth fr.
The Hobbit, especially Smaug!
Robocop was the emojis and I did not even go to the end
Jar jar binks better not be on this list!
MmaProphet CMPunk, JarJar Binks is a mastof CGI.
