Daniel, that's one hell of an idea to put them all together in an album specifically for counterfeits, and display them at coin shows. You're not just the Jedi numismatist, but a caped crusader to preserve the honesty and integrity of the hobby and profession. Keep it up, pal.

Lawd help me! Ha! The way Daniel talks about scarcity of this particular series, it's peaked my interest. I've been eyeballing eBay for a couple to stick in the sock drawer and forget about them. After this video I'll only buy certified copies knowing very well that certified copies are counterfeited too. Ugh!

There is a certain cleaned look that the counterfeits have, where the cleaned part is too clean, and the dirty part is too dark or there is too much of a separation between clean/dirty. Or, it looks like an image where the contrast is too high. Hard to describe, but as I was watching these even before you started testing them, something seemed off about them in the back of my mind. Thanks for showing these! 👍

ANACS has done a good job lately . There grading is as good if not better than pcgs and ngc in my opinion. They had their problems in the past but over the last decade, they seem to be well back on track.

Thanks Daniel. This is the sad part of collecting. Scammers and fakes out there. Know what you are buying and if its too good to be true, probably is...and that's not to say even if it isn't too good to be true, could still be a fake.

I've tested the coins in my Morgan Dollar collection and they are all real.
Now I've decided that I should test all the other silver coins in my collection. Washington quarters , Mercury and Roosevelt dimes.
I'm dreading the task of removing the coins from their albums. I guess it's time to get my gloves and scale and get to weighing.
I started collecting over 50 years ago. I know counterfeits have been around forever but it seems the problem gets worse and worse every year.
Looking forward to your next video. thanks

I'm new to coin collecting and I was just sort of looking for some guidance in that. Not really sure how to collect to be honest. I've heard many suggestions, like getting a complete run of a certain coin or one coin of every type and all that. But I'm not sure how to go about it. Not sure if going after Key Dates is the way to do it or what. Any help would be appreciated.

As I recall, silver is not magnetic, but many of the base metals used to make cheap fakes are magnetic. I guess that these fakes are better quality and not made of magnetic metals ?
