I have to admit, growing up I was always a bigger fan of Mike than Joel and hadn't watched as many Joel episodes, but he is one funny bastard. I didn't get into the show really until the Mike years, but I'm glad people like analogkid01 uploaded these episodes. Mike OR Joel, it's a great show an brings me back to good times.
"ohh this movie is even stupider then I thought" no kidding. It went from a knock off planet of the apes to a lazy 2001-ish style ending. "we all fell asleep and had this same dream where we could feel pain and hunger and apparently went 1000 years into the future and came back with a necklace in 7 days." man, theres a stretch, theres reaching for it, and then theres grasping at straws like an opposing lawyer in an open and shut case. That 3rd act is so bad its like multiple fanfictions trying to connect from multiple different original material.
Fear Monarch This is actually a compilation movie made out a TV series. Admittedly, a very bad one. But part of the reason for this being such a disjointed movie is that Sandy Frank condensed the footage in such a way that entire story arcs simply breeze by before you can make any sense of them. Adding to the picture's problems is that MST3K actually cut the movie down, so it's missing key scenes and makes even less sense than it would otherwise. The full length version of the film isn't really that much better, though.
White Castle Building No. 8, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, originally built in 1936 and remodeled (photo in infobox above), is an example of the chain's buildings with prefabricated white porcelain enamel on steel exteriors. The building measured 28 feet (8.5 m) by 28 feet (8.5 m) and was made to resemble the Chicago Water Tower, with octagonal buttresses, crenelated towers, and a parapet wall.[11][12]

The boy next door you've known for years Has up and made the headlines The front page read he lost his head There'd be nothing like this in a long time No no now child they must be wrong All his neighbours say Johnny was a good boy Did what he should boy Just wouldn't act that way Yes they say he was everybody's friend But now they put him away and say he just may do it again They interviewed the folks he knew For some dumb reason why (Johnny was a good boy) Asked his mom where she went wrong She'll say god knows I've tried (Johnny was a good boy) Good plain boy would just go bad one day He said he couldn't help himself But police suspect foul play . . . etc.
You know as corny as B-Movies can be they can do things you won't see tried on bigger budget movies. Again their quality can vary widely but they're usually fun to watch. :)
Agreed that both had moments of platinum. When I say I "like Joel" and "don't like Mike," I'm referring specifically and only to the host segments - they were stronger (i.e. more directly related to the movie) during the Joel era than the Mike era.
19:52 I hope that was improv, because in that moment in didn't feel like a show, but just friends hanging out. I don't know, I just liked this moment. "Where did that come from?? Earlier you said bowling ball.."

"I smell a rat!... Oh it's you Pepe."
"Must you scream EVERY observation?!"
They need to bring back this show
+ChefMatt Reviews It's in their past. Now they have RiffTrax (and before that, Film Crew).
+ChefMatt Reviews Well they're doing a kickstarter to reboot the show. They're trying to raise $2,000,000 for three episodes in an online format with a new host and voices for the robots but feature the returning cast as cameos.
Cool
+ChefMatt Reviews there's a kickstarter to bring back the show, it already has 1 million dollars raised
I'll say.
You worked Don Cherry and Anthony Braxton into it! I'll love you forever, Best Brains!
Still better than star wars episode 8.
durrrrrrrr Star Wars bad pls laugh
CLASSIC! Japanese rip off of POAs! This is MST3K at its absolute finest!
***** "Remember that it's just a show, you should probably just relax"
"ohh this movie is even stupider then I thought"
no kidding.
Completely unrelated to your comment (which I fully agreed with)
But is that the Fear and Loathing guy as your avatar?
yup, Raoul Duke :p
Fear Monarch This is actually a compilation movie made out a TV series. Admittedly, a very bad one.
But part of the reason for this being such a disjointed movie is that Sandy Frank condensed the footage in such a way that entire story arcs simply breeze by before you can make any sense of them. Adding to the picture's problems is that MST3K actually cut the movie down, so it's missing key scenes and makes even less sense than it would otherwise.
The full length version of the film isn't really that much better, though.
At least the fashion is good. Late 60s at its best.
Posey Very late 60s,... the 70s in fact.
I've been watching this show for 25 years and stuff like "The Mad Steinbrenners" still makes me giggle.
48:57 "Bye-bye, keep in touch, scream if you get killed" :D
(CROW): "Come on girls! We're gonna give them a make-over, they won't believe!" 17:14 LOL!!! 😂🤣
"It's the Daleks! Exterminate, exterminate, exterminate!" When awesome TV shows collide...
Holy cow, it's Mike's origin story!
1 of the best episodes of mst 3000.
"Johnny was bad, even as a child everybody could tell ---
And everyone said if you don't get straight you'll surely go to hell ---
But Johnny didn't care....."
Thank you, Oingo Boingo, for warning us about him all those years ago.
The boy next door you've known for years
Has up and made the headlines
The front page read he lost his head
There'd be nothing like this in a long time
No no now child they must be wrong
All his neighbours say
Johnny was a good boy
Did what he should boy
Just wouldn't act that way
Yes they say he was everybody's friend
But now they put him away and say he just may do it again
They interviewed the folks he knew
For some dumb reason why (Johnny was a good boy)
Asked his mom where she went wrong
She'll say god knows I've tried (Johnny was a good boy)
Good plain boy would just go bad one day
He said he couldn't help himself
But police suspect foul play . . . etc.
You know as corny as B-Movies can be they can do things you won't see tried on bigger budget movies. Again their quality can vary widely but they're usually fun to watch. :)
I like both Joel and Mike. They're both funny in their own ways.
"Seems like a lot of work to make a frozen Eggo waffle, doesn't it?" Hahaha!
Agreed that both had moments of platinum. When I say I "like Joel" and "don't like Mike," I'm referring specifically and only to the host segments - they were stronger (i.e. more directly related to the movie) during the Joel era than the Mike era.
"Are you a Hatfield or a McCoy?"
I'm a doctor, not a script writer.
19:52 I hope that was improv, because in that moment in didn't feel like a show, but just friends hanging out. I don't know, I just liked this moment. "Where did that come from?? Earlier you said bowling ball.."
That was a really good one to watch. Loved the skits like why doesn't Johnny care? by Bell Labs, and the Fashion news segment, really really funny. Thanks for posting this!
"I went ape over this movie!" Chuckles Roger Ebert.
"Stop flinging your feces!" Rages David Edelstein.
"Will somebody validate my parking?" Crows A.O. Scott.
Yes, it's "Planet Of The Apes" as it was meant to be, without annoying character development, plot, or story! Cheer as little Johnny yells "I don't care!" at inappropriate times. Laugh as you try to figure out why the hell Caroline is even in the movie. And shed a tear for poor Godo as he's forced to shoot Ol' Yeller. Brought to you by Sandy Frank, an aspiring nobody whose name sounds like what happens when you drop a hotdog at the beach.
Love MST3K!
"I'd wash that hand, that eas my throwin hand".... had me rolling!!!
28:35 "You're dumber than those rocks, kid."
This modded Fallout 4 playthrough looks great!
