Agreed, issue is attempting to rewrite history through media. For example BFV War Story specifically the Norwegian one was completely fabricated. I was never going to play fallout 76 just because the moment it was announced, myself and everyone I knew thought it was going to be shit. I can't remember exactly why either, there must have been something that tipped all of us off. That's why it's surprising to me that fallout 76 has anyone defending it. I just assumed we'd all fucked it off already. The idea of "no human npcs" just both sounds and in practice is some interns idea that they put as a selling point for some god forsaken reason. Bethesda used to lock their FPS as the engine is so fucked, that if you go above 60 frames per second, you can run faster, or in FO4 you get stuck in terminals, well you can have it locked and still get stuck. Skyrim was unplayable if you tried unlocking it and the 76 now, it is still locked, not at 60 but 144 so it can sync with the refresh rate of your monitor, but any higher than 144 and the engine will start freaking out. Edit: And they are still saying they will use the same enginge for TES6 and Starfield. So fuck them. Edit#2: The floating skull was also in FO3 released in 2008, also you have a bug in FO4 where you or NPC start swimming on land, the same bug is seen in all of the Bethesda games going all the way back to TES Oblivion released in 2006. At launch, yeah it has been awful. I have been playing it with a core group of friends and went into it not expecting much. Not everyone has my situation, which makes sense why it has gotten so much shit. I think the game could be good, but was 100% released too early and sold with a side of snake oil. I'm just going to wait until local/private servers and chill with friends. Sad, but not nuclear. From a moral and public standpoint, it has failed for sure. For me and a decent amount of other people, there is fun to be had, and more if they actually mold it well.
Tbh I enjoyed BF5 a lot. Hated bf1 because the guns were awful(and air combat sucked), but BF5 feels way more fun. I suppose I just sort of get into the atmosphere of a ww2 backdrop. With tanks and planes and infantry, it feels like 3 games in one, so if I ever get a bit tired of one I can just do another. Its nothing new, but it is way more polished than the other games mentioned.

I say it again, if they would have marketed it different, like "hey btw we took our freedom as a game developer to include woman and minorities in our game as playable characters, so everyone can customize their model how they like, we know not everyone is gonna like it, but we wanted to feel everyone welcome, now lets move on to the real gameplaychanges" or something like that. I don't get any of this either. So many major gaming companies pushing out worthless trash to try and make money, when if they actually put the effort in, they'd 100% make a profit because we've seen the awesome games they have built in the past. I've just never understood the "quantity over quality" aspect for games since it's so easy for them to see what people want, and follow that and create something phenomenal that will sell a ton. Like Valve for example right now, they have created some of my favourite games over the past decade and are still trying to push updates on games that are still going strong, like CS:GO for example. Yet, they just feel the need to follow the trend of BR games and gamemodes and add that to fucking Counter Strike, like what the actual fuck? Where are the 128 tick servers? Fixing hacker problems? Or just making the casual experience all around better?

That being said, I think that they are well on their way. Bathesda, in my own opinion, has been releasing worse and worse games with less and less quality. At launch, yeah it has been awful. I have been playing it with a core group of friends and went into it not expecting much. Not everyone has my situation, which makes sense why it has gotten so much shit. I think the game could be good, but was 100% released too early and sold with a side of snake oil. I'm just going to wait until local/private servers and chill with friends. Sad, but not nuclear. From a moral and public standpoint, it has failed for sure. For me and a decent amount of other people, there is fun to be had, and more if they actually mold it well.

Tbh I enjoyed BF5 a lot. Hated bf1 because the guns were awful(and air combat sucked), but BF5 feels way more fun.

With tanks and planes and infantry, it feels like 3 games in one, so if I ever get a bit tired of one I can just do another.

I also have to say that the problem with bf5 are not "the women". In fact, nobody cares if there are women in the game. Its that they shoved it down our throats and presenting having women and minorities in the games as a FEATURE. Meanwhile the game itself is very similar to BF1 (with improvements). And i dont like the argument that it is "a game". Historical Accuracy and Realism arent the same thing. Why do we play games at all, just go to war, right ?
Its obvious that they changed the protagonists in the singleplayer from the reallife event from 5 men to a Woman and her daughter to appeal to "games journalism" and the usual agenda. Things like making certain default characters woman because nobody really cares about customization so you got many "default" woman running around, the recon is a asian woman... all to draw attention to it that there are woman in the game. I say it again, if they would have marketed it different, like "hey btw we took our freedom as a game developer to include woman and minorities in our game as playable characters, so everyone can customize their model how they like, we know not everyone is gonna like it, but we wanted to feel everyone welcome, now lets move on to the real gameplaychanges" or something like that. Instead they praise it and call people who dont agree with it that way uneducated and pick the most extreme incel comments from the internet to mock the whole community on their christmas meeting, as if they celebrate how much more morally right they are. Because at the end of the day they dont care about us, they care about money, and they still think that games journalism and scores are so relevant that they need to please them.

Part of historical escapism is the accuracy, so if you're not going to go with that, then at the very least go wild with your ideas, Dieselpunk WW2 with mechas and women would've been awesome. WW2 with real male heroes replaced with black robot women is just lame and boring.

It wasn't that you missed a few key points in some of your starting arguments it's that you generalized too much mixing people not liking force diversity for the sake of being forced with people who don't like forced diversity because the writers refuse to put good story telling and lore behind this reasons or changes. You made the same over generalized statement for gender issues, historic accuracy and false advertisement, and tried to separate it out that its not the case its people are just tired of the game, its both they aren't really that separate it's a mix of issues and the bad writing, political inserts, short work glitchy/buggy program, etc are an accelerate to people's tolerance wearing thin.
If you want to compare this to non political and non gender games lets look at sports games, they drop one of most sports every year and the burn out is was way slower than these other genres because less inserts.
Yeah I get there are purely some people with issues who only see minorities or females in a place they don't think they belong but those are the minority of gamers who just want a well made product that pushes boundaries of gameplay, engagements, and story telling. I highly doubt even half the people would have had that much of an issue with BF5 if they wove the tale of an alternate reality WW2 retelling tales of the war in a new way for a new age.
