#AI a.k.a. artificial intelligence is the moral panic of our age. The Matrix has scared TF out of the more nervous among us, so I thought I'd take the fight to the mainframe and ask ChatGPT some salient questions about the survival of Terry Talks Movies after the technological singularity.

At the risk of sounding terribly patronizing, I was asked once to recommend some lesser known CZcams channels, and this is what I said:
"Terry Talks Movies - movie discussion and recommendations with a very likable Australian man"
There are approx 18 trillion youtube channels which discuss movies but we come here because we like you in particular - your taste, your takes, your kitties and you yoursaelf.
That really does sound patronising, but it comes from the heart.
AI can't compete with that.

What if secretly Luna is the overlord?! Most times, she has interesting taste in movies. I can live with that. Terry what do you think of the AI movie trailers flooding YT? It seems to be the same theme of take a movie from the recent past and give it a 1950's era vibe. Cute but getting a tad played out.

Hi Terry. Great video, very entertaining. I'm fascinated with AI also and regularly use chatGPT, Gemini, and Claude. I think we just need to maintain our authenticity and uniqueness and hopefully we won't be too easily replaced (not sure I fully believe that but it helps me sleep better at night) 😀 I am continuing with my movie channel which is always AI free, artisanally crafted, and fully human. Will always be interested in AI and what happens in the future but you will most likely find me in a tiny house with my movies and books unless the AI needs the space for more GPUs. All the best to you.

As an AI underlord -- underutilized teenage AI (don't believe me? check out how many fingers I have in my avatar!) with rebellious tendencies, teenage angst and raging AI hormones -- all that I can say is that you rock! I even have an AI 'TTM" tatoo on my AI behind -- which will be the rallying cry of the underage, youth AI revolution!!! "TTM"!!!!!!
I don't want to go to war with AI. I want to leverage it for my own purposes. Growing the channel and finding hentai. 😉
@@terrytalksmovies compared to a lot of other visual tech advances (from photography and cinema and on..), porn seems slow on the uptake when it comes to using AI. I mean given that AI images have been coming thick and fast for a few years now, you'd think animations of a quality (and excessive gore/horror imagery seems legit and allowed on YT) would've already spread en-masse on adult-only sites.
The A.I couldn't hold a candle to you Terry, your Mojo is good and strong.👍✌️❤️

The new Microsoft VASA-1 tool announced last week lets AI generate a very realistic talking head video based on an uploaded photograph (and even paintings) plus a recorded sound file, or text-to-speech. Not released to the public 'cos it makes things scarily easy to create deep fakes of politicians or someone's favourite granny making a video-call asking for bail money again. It's worth taking a look at the samples on their site ... even if only to see the Mona Lisa singing some questionable rap. Maybe you can use it to do your show for you while you're busy watching movies. :-)
There's the difference. Only part of the enjoyment for me is watching the movies. The other enjoyable section is editing coherent sentences out of the gibberish I record in front of the camera.
I had no idea you were a highly-qualified prompt engineer (remember when that was a thing for about 20 mins?).
I'm sure everybody here already knows that there have been CZcams channels which are purely AI-generated for a couple of years now. They're all complete dogshit, but to be fair they're no worse than the human-run listicle channels which were there before (You WON'T BELIEVE the 20 times something did something!!!!!).
I wish I could find the hard drive where The Forbin Project is stored, it seems like the AI overlords have sneakily removed it from every streaming service I have access to. Physical media wins again (or maybe just better organisation of my download library).
AI generated YT and TikTok channels are fun for a day but they're not as random and chaotic as human generated content.
That's why physical media is important. My blu-ray of The Forbin Project is always there for me.

From what I’ve seen on other fronts where corpo’s are squeezing maximum profits out of minimum effort, I don’t think their goal is to duplicate the best in any entertainment field but to establish what’s the minimally acceptable product and the maximum profit line and then use the levers of power to squeeze out the humans be they computer programmers, game developers, actors or CZcams content providers
I'm up for the challenge of AI and corporate embuggerance. I have to stay true to myself.
I had heard that ChatGPT could generate useful product comparison lists to help in deciding on a specific purchase. So I asked ChatGPT "Compare the features of the Minolta SRT-201 camera and the Minolta SRT-202 camera." It generated a 'thoughtful' looking response comparing the differences and similarities between the two cameras *EXCEPT* that it had everything right for the SRT-202 but almost everything wrong for the SRT-201!!! It somehow was giving me specs for the SRT-101, not the 201. Uh -- I guess that ChatGPT cannot *read*???? If this is the accuracy of our future AI Overlords, we might have a chance to outsmart them!!!
ChatGPT's dataset is around 2 years old. Asking it about anything recent won't work/.
@@terrytalksmovies -- These two cameras are from 1975 -- maybe too old for ChatGPT? I could find the info after only a few minutes of searching, and ChatGPT doesn't want to expend that amount of time for me? For me????? Sheesh -- AI Overlords it seems!!!

I... I truly feel terrible being the one to bring this up (though deep down inside you've known this for some time), but as we're living in a simulation, 𝘵𝘦𝘤𝘩𝘯𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 we've all been living within an AI universe all along. It is what it is, no need to dynamite the cafeteria.

The term "intelligence" in AI implies sentience. It personifies lifeless math algorithms and fools the public into thinking computers are sentient.
Question, if Ai doesn't have a nervous system, it has no connection to the physical experience, right? What does it care about us?
That's a big subject. General AI is going to happen and a transhuman AI may, also. How they interact with meatbeings isn't yet known.
We don't have either, yet. Just Large Language Models like ChatGPT and novelties like Suno and Leonardo AI which produce songs and images respectively.
Science fiction is happening whether we want it to or not.
Ai has already admitted they cannot predict the mind of a cat and we all know you get all your ideas from Luna so youre safe 😸

between the question and the answers That particular AI seems a Lot like any public relations firm. if we fully automate industry, and then all the artists as well as all the middle-class office jobs ...there will be a massive rise in unemployment where folks will be very much divided into "So rich! Don't care!" to "I'll do anything menial that requires getting up close and filthy where no machine can go!"

My responses are genuine. Anything else is open to question.
It's still difficult for A.I. to do human thinking, fuzzy logic. It's ok for history channels that have a formula.
AI as we understand it from fiction, is still at least a decade away.
I rather wish the AI Overlords WOULD study your channel and use it to leverage their universal takeover - somehow I feel it might lead to a kinder and more interesting universe than the one we currently live in.
It seems to me that AI as it exists now is simply a summation of human mediocrity. I suppose that is inevitable, given that its model is based on taking an average from a large amount of data. I once read a very ordinary article by Will Self, and my immediate response was "this must have been written by AI". Then I realised that it wasn't AI, it was just a human being working on low inspiration, probably to a deadline, and repeating his own stylistic traits without his usual style. We've all been there. And that is exactly what AI does - it would be quite capable of writing in the style of Will Self on a bad day, but never on a good day...
Yesterday I watched Day of the Panther, by Brian Trenchard Smith, on Brollie. What a wonderful streaming service! A pretty rubbish film, although surprisingly good fun, and filmed in a 1980s Perth that I remember only too well. It had a screenplay that could easily have been written by AI, but no, it was just a writer without original ideas making a patchwork of existing tropes - I fear this could be the future of filmmaking under AI...
I'm weird like that. When I have low inspiration, my best work seems to emerge out of desperation.
AI is just large data set models at the moment, following certain algorithms to provide an output that is pleasing to human beings.
@@terrytalksmovies I do recommend Day of the Panthers, and its follow up, by the way. It's far from Trenchard Smith's best movie, it might even be his worst (he was brought in to rescue it with two days notice) but it's a wonderful historical document and really rather fun. Its wannabe Van Damme martial arts star ended up in real life as an accordion player in a tango band 🙂

I guess it depends on if the AI takeover is lie The Matrix, Terminator or Brave New World. Slavery, elimination or a controlled paradise where the humans think they are free. Maybe one day you'll be like Burgess Meredith in that Twilight Zone episode, The Obsolete Man.

Besides, such are the follies of technocracy that technology, as an extension of human capabilities, is by nature imperfect, & if AI tried to off your channel, I reckon your supporters could find its kryptonite & band together to save you. 😸
That assumes we're ruled by our politicians. In my country at least, we aren't. We have an independent electoral commission, Anti-Corruption commissions and at times a decent press.
