Ron Bon I guess it's about the "marked"-part. If that's the "selling-point", then there's probably not much more to the role. If the character is a wife or girlfriend, but it's not her entire personality, she'll probably be more interested.

Yeah, when you look at the behind the scenes footage, the costume designer and cinematographer referenced Dutch master!
Notice the inscription around the sun on the plaque above right of the door of the miniaturist's shop - "EVERYTHING MAN SEES HE TAKES FOR A TOY". Sounds like a clue to me...

Well I can't sing or dance and mathematics absolutely escapes me...but I do have an eye for detail. The same words are also on the seal on the blue package that the miniaturist sent to her. I pieced it together between that and the plaque by the door. I'm guessing that the miniaturist is a man who becomes a romantic interest to the plot and the blue eyed blonde woman is a ghost. In a sense, the miniaturist is "toying" with Nella. I'll be disappointed if the words don't come to have meaning in later episodes.

I'm amazed this came from PBS. When I think of PBS, i think of child shows like Clifford, Mr. Rogers and Sesame Street. This feels and looks like it came from Netflix or HBO.
So few films or TV set in Golden Age Netherlands, so I'm excited by that. Add a supernatural mystery and i'm fired up!

I absolutely loved this!!! I had already read the book this is based on, and I watched it on TV with my grandparents at Christmas. Loved it even more after that! I think it was Anya Taylor-Joy’s first role or something, and I just fell so in love with her as an actress.
She is a terrific actress truly magnificent I enjoyed each and every film she was in
Anya look so good in period drama.
Oh, I thought it was about the woman who recreated murder scenes through miniatures. She helped solve crimes and pioneered forensic science. (This is not it lol)

This was a beautifully shot and acted piece! Not the greatest story but a sight to behold. The book it’s based on is very poetic as well.

I read this book a while ago and it’s still one of my favorites. Until I was just scrolling through Anya Taylor-Joys movies and tv shows, I had no clue that this existed. I bought it on Amazon immediately lol

this reminds me of a museum i visited in the Netherlands, where you first saw the dollhouse and then you walked around the house itself. It was really interesting, I feel like this is kind of based on the people that lived there.

Everyone who likes this story, please check out M.R.James, "The haunted doll's house". Doll's houses come to life have a beautiful and long history, it's well worth researching that. I think it is great how this has been used here.
