RUN....He is gay and his boyfriend lives somewhere in the house...he only wants her as a front to have his babies and give dinner parties for important people so he can get ahead...it happens all the time.
You're not marrying them, but the parents come with the package.

I've heard it said that "you must winter and summer with a man before you marry him". That means to experience both the bad times and the good times with him to learn his character.
And you can never find out everything about them until you live with them and even then, you don't know everything.😊
Patricia Hitchcock, Hitchcock's daughter, co-stars in this episode. She's the friend of Barbara Bel Geddes (who played "Miss Ellie" on the TV hit series, "Dallas")

Barbara Bel Geddes was a wonderful actress. Hitchcock also employed her in his masterpiece movie "Vertigo" as Midge (Marjorie Wood). This also has Hitchcock's daughter, Pat Hitchcock in it. She also appeared in Hitchcock's famous movie "Psycho".

I agree. She should just turn the situation around and get a lawyer to get her the house, the money, the car...everything and then have the lawyer get a court order to have Philip put away for good.
One of several Hitch TV shows that tried out 'Psycho' themes. This is a 'classic water cooler ending'. Hitch wanted his TV shows to have the kind of surprises at the end everyone would discuss the next day at the office water-cooler (hence the name). Such endings have never been a part of his movie style but were solid gold for TV.
Barbara Bel Geddes was one of Alfred Hitchcock's favorite actresses.
Hitchcock's daughter was in a lot of these. She plays the friend in this. She appeared in small parts in his movies. I think she did it more for fun, not really into acting. She married and had, I believe, four children. Does this echo of Psycho?!
I think this episode came before Psycho even was written. Odd coincidence.

The creepy way he called her 'Mother' makes me uneasy. It sounds weird and unnatural. Just like Norman Bates' sick and twisted relationship with his 'Mother'.

I had this girlfriend once, who loved watching Alfred Hitchcock Presents, and for our four month dating, I never introduced my mother to her, she showed me this episode and I joked “I swear she’s alive! Just don’t look in the garden for a place that loves like a grave!”

@@R.Oates7902 sadly? Yes that she’s gone and she’ll be missed but as funerals are called more often now a celebration of life. I say ? Sadly because if she had lived a good long life unfortunately we all have to go at some time but if the person had a long happy life that can be a comfort for her loved ones with a lot of wonderful memories. What more can yiu ask for if yiu live into your 90’s and had a good life?

Did anyone else see the movie. "the girl" ? It's about Hitchcock, he was an old pervert. He was obsessed with Tippi Hedren, the blonde actress from " the birds" and "Marnie". At least she got away from him. She's the mother of Melanie Griffith.

Came here to see the end! Watched the entire episode tonight on ME tv (Memorable Entertainment Television) and the last minute of the show it went dark/blank then came back on with no sound! Then with sound Barbara Bel Gedes is crying.
Unbelievable this would happen right at the very end! But at least I found the finale here!!

I think so because although I’m a horror movie wimp and scare easily I have seen most of the psycho movie and that is what Norman does in Psycho. In fact at the end here I thought Philip was going to put on his mother’s shawl.
No it wasn't.
It may have been a friend of his late mother, who was already aware of the situation, but perhaps felt powerless to stop it.
The impression I have, is that she, and/or others, had perhaps tried to address Phillip's insanity, but failed.
He's insane, not weird.
I think it was Alfred Hitchcock dressed as a woman.. Hitchcock often appeared as an extra in his films.
It was the housekeeper and she knew how nutty but harmless the son was.
