    I have the Curado Dc, Daiwa Hyper Long Cast and the Daiwa Elite Long Cast. All 3 are excellent , that said when I want max distance I grab the Diawa’s. When it comes to versatility to me I go to the Dc as it can cast far and very quickly make a adjustment to skip it. But again dedicated long cast I go to the Daiwa’s as I cast them further no matter how I adjust the Dc.

    Try that test again with a 1/4 oz weight. BTW you are allowed to adjust the tension knob on the right side of the Daiwa reel also. They claim it is "factory set" well yes it is set at the factory then the reel is put in a box and sold. Factory set to what weight? They have no idea what weight bait you are going to throw with the reel. If it never needs adjusting why then put a knob there that can rotate and adjust the tension? I have both reels and like them both but I use the DC for baits 3/8 oz and heavier in weight and the Elite for 3/8 and lighter.

  • @HeBitchManHo
    @HeBitchManHo Před 4 lety +65

    Hold on. I’m a fan of both companies, but you stated you adjusted tension on the DC, and left the tension as it came out of the box with the Tatula. Not to mention, it came straight out of the box, bearings haven’t even been broken in, as you mentioned that it got smoother the more you used it. The DC has been through how many tests, it’s bearings have been broken in and set. How about a comparison after a month of using it, adjust tension for optimum results. Keep the competition fair, or do an actual new in box stock vs new in box stock comparison. I call bullshit.

    • @dannyvonduck659
      @dannyvonduck659 Před 4 lety +3

      so 2 yard difference - and you want another test after breaking in the bearings of the daiwa - so the test would show a 2 yard difference in Daiwa's favour? this test tells me enough.

    • @pescadordosertao4134
      @pescadordosertao4134 Před 4 lety +2

      Surely his tests lacks methodological consitency, generating quite not trustable results. But Daiwa is the one who says don't mess with the zero-adjuster tuning, so, over this point he isn't to be blamed. The out of the box itself invalidates this test in every aspect concerning casting distance. I have three tatulas (100, 103SVTW, and Elite), every one came with almost dry bearings. Personally I don't use Shimano stuff, since I can't condone the policy of increasing profit by using cheaper plastic pieces and low quality oscillation systems on it's spinning reeks.

      I’d go daiwa regardless. I bought the DC and my release button broke 3 weeks later. I don’t even care if it can cast 20 feet differently at that price this shouldn’t be a problem others have as well.

    Here’s the big difference between the two or any reels in these comparisons. The Daiwas are just more comfortable to fish all day. Shimano usually heavier and bulkier. I don’t care if you get 20 feet extra from a Shimano if it sucks to fish all day.

    My Curado DC thumb bar broke after 3 weeks and Shimano only repairs it. So I essentially bought a broken/refurbished reel. They would not replace it with a new one. To add insult to injury, they initially told me the reel was in treated badly and was fished in saltwater(I’m FW exclusive). No more Shimano for me, Team Daiwa 4 me.

      No it's not a real comparison, so take what he's saying with a grain of salt. People click these video's thinking they are going to learn how these reel compare yet he's such a biased hypocrite always talking about fanboy this and fanboy that, you should know instantly your listening to punk ass kid who just got done playing call of duty on his x-box. (Who the heck talks that way about a fishing reel..) To answer your question, No he wont adjust the spool tension knob of the Daiwa reel even though he know's it will make it cast farther, because he claims it comes that way from the factory and that's the recommended setting. What a bad joke... lol, but what do you expect when you get your information from a guy who doesn't have a clue what he's doing and is no better casting than a 8 year old girl. His test's are riddled with holes, often he's using different rod's and different weather condition's for the same comparison video. If you can make it through the lame music, 25 ad's and useless biased information, then all you need to know is buy only Shimano reels, you will probably find a few shoved up is his ass, along with a rod or two with the plastic still on the cork. The empty can rattles the most.

      @@dormantmenace I'm a shimano fan too, I have 13 shimano reel's, and about 8 daiwa's and a couple lew's and about 5 Abu's. Shimano's are good reel's. His whole test and attitude towards other people like you, that have asked the same question rubs me the wrong way. It's a great question and when people ask him, he comes at them with the fanboy stuff and a douche attitude. I bet you that he doesn't leave his shimano's on the stock setting from the factory. He know's damn well the zero turn control knob is just a stiff factory setting for novice anglers to set and forget, people that can actually cast adjust it to their preference, and you can get alot more distance adjusting it. His break settings on the daiwa are like 12-10. That's pretty weak thumb control on his part. Never the less each reel has pro's and con's and distance is the only test he actually try's to compare. tackleadvisors shows you how it should be done. Skip this guy, Never trust a pier fisherman with 30grand in combo's. Look for someone that has on the water experience that has a boat. Tacticalbassin is a great source of unbiased information.

    First off love the new music-change is good. When I got the notification of the video by email. I laughed. I thought this is no contest. The Diawa is going to lose big time. At the end I was surprised. So I look forward to the upcoming tests. I own 2 Diawa’s and 1 Quantum baitcaster and have been thinking about buying another one and have been scoping out the Shimano’s. I fished their spinning rods and reels for years, ride bikes equipped with their components and always saw them as a quality brand until they started to use plastic gears in their spinning reels of late, so I am on the fence. DC or conventional and all that decision making has me holding on to my money to see what shakes out.

    Doing these test with mono or fluro is a waste for some of these reels when they throw braid 50’ further. And I know that they’re all throwing the same line but some reels throw some lines better than others and that same reel may throw a different line worse than others.

    If I needed another reel or buying, my first more costly reel the Shimano DC reel would be my choice. Regardless of casting distance, I would always choose easy use first. The Shimano may cost a few dollars more but you get a lot more reel for a little more money spent for a DC reel.

  • @hookset-n-holdtheline6052

    my sv and tc both beat the hell out of my dc as far as long casting... these reviews are biased as hell this kid has some serious prejudice against dawaii

    Casting tests like these aren't really fair with just one caster.

    Personally I will never buy a non shimano reel again, regardless of casting
    performance, I just feel that they are smoother.

    Okay... fish 2 years with the Tatula and the Curado and tear em down and the one that will have zero corrosion is the one that starts with “T”

  • @proverbialmind_spread9421

    I dumped my Curado DC instantly. I don't find the DC system to be an advantage...I find that screeching noise to be an annoyance.

    Why don’t you retest and cast a 1/2 oz jig, to see real world casting distant with air drag on the lure.

      I own the Shimano Curad dc as well it’s just silly to compare them constantly let’s face it they both have pros and cons and Daiwa is the best on the HIGH end omitting the Stella and both companies have turned their back on loyal customers in order to fatten their pocketsI like both companies and the old saying was Shimano for spinning and Daiwa for casting just saying

    I just refunded my curaDO DC BECAUSE IT WOULD BACKLASH ALL THE TIME AND cast distance was atrocious! My Abu Garcia Silvermax was casting twice the distance. Just like with guns, the more bell and whistles, the more opportunities for failure. And Shimano customer service SUCKS!!!
