Foam is just fine, but I lost the guide insert closest to the tip within 3 fishing trips. I would recommend it for beginners or budgets.... It catches fish.

For my first baitcaster i use an abu garcia vengeance i hardly ever need to use my thumb because my settings are max breaks and low spool

Anlan, but what ever you decide I'll be sure to check it out! I'm actually a fan of round reels! I own 3 older Calcutta's 50, 100, and 200, plus the 23 Calcutta Conquest BFS. I used to own a couple Diawa Millionaire series reals They were red in color, but both of those locked up on me throwing deep diving crankbaits, and I gave them to someone over 20 years ago. I actually still have an old Lews BB1N cranking reel that is in Immaculate condition....FishOn...jimi

Abu garcia has been making ambassaduer reels for a very long time 😂 and have been sold in the US market till this day. That's a round reel line that's very popular. Just because they aren't bfs and not common in bass or panfish fishing doesn't mean they haven't still be popular. They are very popular in big game fishing, catfishing, carp fishing and even saltwater fishing lol. They've also been pretty popular round reels in Asia for years including Penn, shimano, some chinese brands and abu garcia. I'm like you though I prefer a low profile reel but....do still have and will use my ambassaduer line up for catfish or other big game fish. There's not many low profiles that can take the punishment those reels can take and mine have been used for decades, still preform like they did straight out the box.

My Kastking rovers, Daiwa Millionaire and my Sougayilang warrior are 3 of my favorite baitcasters. Especially for larger fish. My low profles just cant keep up. Cheers!
