My doctor didn’t discuss the procedure with me, she never told me what the next step.. i opend my mouth thought she’s only adjusting my braces like before, next thing i know i have those bite turbos 😭 I’m feeling betrayed
Omg my dentist too!!!! Today I got power chain and he didn’t tell me and before the appointment my first molar bracket broke so he put that thing over that molar so the upper tooth won’t touch that tooth so the bracket still stays I thought it was filling cuz it’s white like when u have a cavity the dentist fills them like that feeling . And now I can’t close my teeth and can’t chew anything at all so how am I supposed to eat?? I’m gonna have to go there tomorrow to thinner that filling
literally the bane of my existence, have them placed on the back of my front teeth & it’s impossible to chew, I’ve been living off pudding, yoghurt and porridge :’)
Me too but I can still chew a bit. I chew it until it weakens then I use my tongue to pull it off. But I swallow bigger pieces than I usually do without braces.
I unfortunately just got these put on today when I went to get my bottom brackets. I had no idea I was getting them and they didn’t explain why they put them on lol

I cried as soon as I got out of the clinic. I'm not able to chew, i lost my self confidence. This has given me a bad lisp i dont feel like talking at all. And I haven't eaten well.

I got these 2 days ago and they have helped me break a lot of my bad habits. Junk food, Biting nails, Grinding teeth, and I mumble less. It sucks but there is positives.
For everyone who is getting these/recently got these, it’s really not as bad as you think! All the other comments are saying how terrible they are, but once you have them for about a week (or even less) they just become a part of ur mouth and you can’t tell they’re there. I know your teeth won’t be able to touch, but the turbo bites can act as teeth and chew for you. Just remember, as bad as Turbo bites might seem at the moment, they’ll get better and they help speed up your teeth situation, the result will be worth it! I hope I helped 👍👍
Yeah, no they are indeed terrible. Mine are quite large-to the point where I can almost fit my tongue through my teeth because the gap is so large. I can barely eat. I can’t bite into things with my front teeth, I can’t grind food with my back teeth (only between the bite pads) and I can’t “feel” the food because the bite pads have no nerves like my teeth do. It’s as if there’s a wooden plank stuck between your top and bottom teeth every time you try to eat LOL
I love your videos so much they help me cope with my braces somehow, and i'm so happy you did this one because I got them a month and a half ago and i hate them so much so watching stuff on it is my coping mechanism
To kids that just got bite turbos, you get used to them after a while, I have had mine for a year and a half and I forget what what regular biting used to be. I still have no idea when I will get them off.
I just got my braces today and didn’t know I was going to get these on my back molars. This is driving me absolutely insane. I can’t eat. I want to close my mouth the way I always have but I can’t. It’s not painful (yet) But I keep biting down because it feels so weird.

Secondly, I'll share my story with the bite turbos I have... which are not exactly bite turbos, but similar. They feel quite big and pointy on the back of my front teeth and they challenged me at the beginning because they affected my speech in the first days and they are also stopping my molars from touching so I cannot properly chew much. At the beginning this was very difficult, especially due to the unexpected nature of this. Still, I was surprised how quickly I got used to them once I understood what I have to do to adapt, like the kind of foods I can eat. I was feeling frustrated because I wanted to still enjoy a variety of foods and I fell quite self-conscious about the way I was speaking, but I learned to focus on what I still find enjoyable and guess what... cake is super easy to eat even with those and they are a great excuse to indulge :))). Wish you all an easy braces experience and whenever you feel down about the discomfort, just take a look in the mirror and realize that even as you stay and do nothing, your teeth are moving into the right position and it totally pays off :D:D:D!
i wish i had found these videos 6 months ago before i got my braces. I was so nervous bcs i had no idea what exactly was going to happen, but turns out its not a big deal at all. I got bite turbos+ bottom braces about 2 weeks ago and i don't even notice them any more :)
I got my bite turbos the day i got my braces on. I never really thought about them till now(I'm in my 5th month). I'm seeing comments saying they are terrible but honestly I didn't know they were making some kind of difference. I never felt uncomfortable (i never felt anything). Idk maybe i feel something but it's not strong so i don't notice. It's like when I got braces how everyone said they're gonna be painful but let me tell you, they aren't!
I can't stand these😭😂 i have them because of my over bite but my ortho said it was a slight over bite but i don't know if that will help with getting them off sooner??? Because eating is so weird!😂 but anything to get me my beautoful smile sooo i guess i'll deal

I got bite turbos today and the discomfort is super real. But I'm SO happy nonetheless because I'd been waiting for this appointment for more than a month because of this pandemic. I go back again in two weeks!
I’m 20 months into my braces and I got turbos to help fix my cross bite and basically I’ve already been eating sandwiches and chips. My friends, the turbos won’t hurt (it’s probably the tightening or the new placement of brackets on your teeth that hurts). It is uncomfortable but you’ll get used to it very soon!!
I have bite turbos on my first premolars 😭😭 I have no clue when they will come off but they are the worst. I clench and they hurt everyday. I swear my teeth underneath these demons ore broken by now 🤕

Got mine today. They are annoying and I feel kind of desperate from not being able to close my (bite) properly. I do have a huge lisp when speaking English but it’s not so bad in Spanish. I can’t wait to get rid of them!!

I wish I would have seen this video and the other videos sooner. My bite turbos (after I sheared off 2 spacers, they were applied) were annoying chewing but not painful. Lots of tenderness. Not every person has the same orthodontic treatment. Most people I talked to did not have bite turbos, spacers or bands. We don’t know what questions specifically to ask. Great job educating us, Greg as an orthodontist. Thank you very much! 😁
I grind my teeth/bite really hard in my sleep and my bite turbos and the bracket fall off. This isn't the first time though. My ortho keeps replacing them but the same thing keeps happening. Is there anything else I could do?
I just got bite turbos on my back teeth this morning- its because we're trying to bring a top tooth forward, but theres a bottom tooth blocking it. The "blue glue" they called it, makes space so that top tooth can move without being locked in by the bottom
I had to get them cause I have a cross bite. They don't necessarily hurt, it would be hard to know the difference anyway, but they make it where I can't really use my back teeth to chew. I've just learned to eat things that can be swallowed. Mine are tooth colored.
Please someone tell me it gets better. I got one on a lower tooth because I used to have an expander on my upper jaw and got braces after removing the expander but since a bracket broke off and weeks passed because me and my orthodontist left the country I had to fix the tooth that went back to it's old position and today after a month I am getting it off, I am actually watching videos about it because I am scared of orthodontist, dentists in general but want to fix my teeth knowing every step of the process .
Braces Explained i don’t really know what that is... I mean like the square metal without colored bands and like metal, not sure what ceramic ones look like, I have a impacted canine that’s coming down behind my front tooth and not sure what the difference the bracket makes.
I had my lower arch, put on yesterday, and the Orho didn't tell me he had put two on, nor did he tell me I wouldn't be able to eat or chew as my mouth could not close.I have ben eating soup, as chewing any solids is impossible.I am fuming, and I have no idea as to how long I will need them. I am going to insist they be removed.

When you get these on you literally have to wait like 1-2 weeks before you can eat properly like am I suppose to just not eat proper food for that long

I just watched all of your most popular videos, very informational, thank you! I'm 26 and I got braces April 12th, 2022. I didn't understand the purpose of the bite turbos and so I had my orthodontist shave them down almost all the way. Just today I noticed that one of my front tooths is slightly chipping from making contact with the bracket below it. Very minimal chipping that's why I did not notice. I plan to make an appointment to get the bite turbos put back in but after the braces procedure is there a way for my orthodontist to "file" my tooth down just a tiny bit?
When i first saw and watched this video i had no idea that i was gonna need bite turbos so i was reading all those comments about the pain and eating problems then i thought to myself "hah, im glad i won't need that." Today i had an appointment and guess what My dentist put bite turbos on my molar teeth
I first got turbos when my mandibular molar brackets were put on. I then had turbos put on my teeth a second time but i forgot why. Still eventually my mandibular right 2nd molar bracket popped off while i was eating pizza 😂 i then had spacers put in and i eventually got a molar band around that tooth. 2 MONTHS LATER my mandibular left 2nd molar bracket popped off while i was eating a chicken nugget and i was so fed up and angry because then i knew i was going to have to experience spacers again 😣😣😣 the doctor said it wasn't important at the moment. But moral of the story, my doctor told his assistant to grind down my turbos and i think that eventually led to my 2nd bracket being popped off 🙂🙃

I have a deep bite and got Incognito lingual braces, so bite turbos were non-negotiable for me. However, since they are part of the custom brackets (check out how incognito works) they are manufactured based on your actual teeth shape and they are not uncomfortable at all. They've actually improved my occlusion and I can feel my TMJ is less engaged than before. Give it time and you will get used to them.
I noticed when they applied mine they didn’t tell me to not look at it but they held this orange thingy which I assume was for eye protection and I think I had special glasses too😂
Awesome video Dr. Grey. I have bite turbos for two reasons, one to bring the maxillary right second molar forward a little and secondly to bring the maxillary right canine forward which is way very backward, which looks very bad. I just got that backward canine tooth bonded to the bracket and tied to the archwire with a long metallic ligature, which is there to pull it forward. Initially I felt like the ligature is really working good because of the pressure, but that pressure just faded away after a few days and now I don't feel any pressure of being pulled, so it feels like the tooth movement has stopped & it is going to take many days to come forward...huhh. Sorry for the long narration. I am sure I don't feel any pressure because I got used to it. I would like to know how these bite turbos are removed at the end? Also would like to know the types of archwires, viz. Ti-Ni, SS, Beta chromium, etc. and their respective mechanism. As the Ti-Ni and Beta chromium wires are heat activated, their mechanism can be understood, but how does the SS wire work? I am really curious to know that. Thank you so much for your great videos. You don't know how excited I am always to see your videos, as they really get me acquainted with this magical orthodontic treatment.

The bite turbos are removed with a handpiece and a drill, being careful to avoid the tooth structure. You don't need to be anesthetized and won't feel it, so don't worry! =]

At my orthodontist these are called bite blocks. I have on my molars and the teeth directly above the bite blocks hated me for a few days. I got my bite blocks raised now at the 4 month mark and it wasn't painful thankfully.
My bite turbos are broken, so I have to get them again. But I’m telling you without them is uncomfortable and a little painful when it touches your brackets and if you just got your wire and rubber changed too . Don’t worry I made a appointment to get them refilled.
Love your videos! Been subscribed since the hundreds :) So what is a good solution for someone that has gaps between every tooth? My husband is terrified of dentists and I am trying to encourage him to visit one for a consultation. He is afraid that if they bring all of his teeth together he will have major gapping towards the back. Is there a solution for this?

A consultation is generally just with a mirror so nothing scary there! Regarding space closure, most people will never notice any "gap" towards the back. Generally we bring the front teeth backwards but it is all case-dependent so it's kinda tough to answer without an exam! Have him go in and get a consult - he's got nothing to lose!

Dr. Greg I e had bite turbos going on 3 months (same amount of time I’ve had braces) after about a month, right before my first adjustment, I started “clenching” or “grinding” my teeth. My front bottom teeth hit the back of my top teeth when I’m talking or chewing!! I have a constant small headache and jaw pain... plus I’ve noticed my bottom teeth have “arched” up in a sense... they used to straight across at the bottom now there’s a “hump” or arch in the front... is this from the clenching?
One site of my bite turbos just dropped few minutes ago when I was chewing bacon hahaha.. Still have one turbo to support in the other side. Hopefully can stay til the next appointment 😆 Thank you for such informative video. ❤

I got my bite turbos the day i got my braces on. I never really thought about them till now(I'm in my 5th month). I'm seeing comments saying they are terrible but honestly I didn't know they were making some kind of difference. I never felt uncomfortable (i never felt anything). Idk maybe i feel something but it's not strong so i don't notice. It's like when I got braces how everyone said they're gonna be painful but let me tell you, they aren't!
I can't stand these😭😂 i have them because of my over bite but my ortho said it was a slight over bite but i don't know if that will help with getting them off sooner??? Because eating is so weird!😂 but anything to get me my beautoful smile sooo i guess i'll deal

I got bite turbos today and the discomfort is super real. But I'm SO happy nonetheless because I'd been waiting for this appointment for more than a month because of this pandemic. I go back again in two weeks!
I’m 20 months into my braces and I got turbos to help fix my cross bite and basically I’ve already been eating sandwiches and chips. My friends, the turbos won’t hurt (it’s probably the tightening or the new placement of brackets on your teeth that hurts). It is uncomfortable but you’ll get used to it very soon!!

Cement on the molars is the solution I've broke mine off from grinding my teeth at night. I woke in so much pain when I broke it.

I got turbos when I first got my braces on and they were on my back teeth. Now they just put them on my front teeth and I’m in so much pain, haven’t eaten all day, and can’t talk right so I’m terrified to go to school tomorrow.
Got mine today. They are annoying and I feel kind of desperate from not being able to close my (bite) properly. I do have a huge lisp when speaking English but it’s not so bad in Spanish. I can’t wait to get rid of them!!

I wish I would have seen this video and the other videos sooner. My bite turbos (after I sheared off 2 spacers, they were applied) were annoying chewing but not painful. Lots of tenderness. Not every person has the same orthodontic treatment. Most people I talked to did not have bite turbos, spacers or bands. We don’t know what questions specifically to ask. Great job educating us, Greg as an orthodontist. Thank you very much! 😁

My orthodontist did mine uneven and it was so painful! I had a small hand drill so I fixed it at home. It feels so much better.

I grind my teeth/bite really hard in my sleep and my bite turbos and the bracket fall off. This isn't the first time though. My ortho keeps replacing them but the same thing keeps happening. Is there anything else I could do?

I just got bite turbos on my back teeth this morning- its because we're trying to bring a top tooth forward, but theres a bottom tooth blocking it. The "blue glue" they called it, makes space so that top tooth can move without being locked in by the bottom

Having jaw fatigue after getting these. How to relieve? My jaw is so fatigued, I'm gritting them.
I had to get them cause I have a cross bite. They don't necessarily hurt, it would be hard to know the difference anyway, but they make it where I can't really use my back teeth to chew. I've just learned to eat things that can be swallowed. Mine are tooth colored.
Please someone tell me it gets better. My depression is literally resurfacing because of these little sh*ts, because I can’t chew and so I can’t eat my favorite things… or anything for that matter 😭 I didn’t even know I was getting these until I got them!!! as a sensory person who likes to clench and teeth sometimes this is absolutely killing me 🫠

I got one on a lower tooth because I used to have an expander on my upper jaw and got braces after removing the expander but since a bracket broke off and weeks passed because me and my orthodontist left the country I had to fix the tooth that went back to it's old position and today after a month I am getting it off, I am actually watching videos about it because I am scared of orthodontist, dentists in general but want to fix my teeth knowing every step of the process .

I had my lower arch, put on yesterday, and the Orho didn't tell me he had put two on, nor did he tell me I wouldn't be able to eat or chew as my mouth could not close.I have ben eating soup, as chewing any solids is impossible.I am fuming, and I have no idea as to how long I will need them. I am going to insist they be removed.

I just watched all of your most popular videos, very informational, thank you! I'm 26 and I got braces April 12th, 2022. I didn't understand the purpose of the bite turbos and so I had my orthodontist shave them down almost all the way. Just today I noticed that one of my front tooths is slightly chipping from making contact with the bracket below it. Very minimal chipping that's why I did not notice. I plan to make an appointment to get the bite turbos put back in but after the braces procedure is there a way for my orthodontist to "file" my tooth down just a tiny bit?

I first got turbos when my mandibular molar brackets were put on. I then had turbos put on my teeth a second time but i forgot why. Still eventually my mandibular right 2nd molar bracket popped off while i was eating pizza 😂 i then had spacers put in and i eventually got a molar band around that tooth. 2 MONTHS LATER my mandibular left 2nd molar bracket popped off while i was eating a chicken nugget and i was so fed up and angry because then i knew i was going to have to experience spacers again 😣😣😣 the doctor said it wasn't important at the moment. But moral of the story, my doctor told his assistant to grind down my turbos and i think that eventually led to my 2nd bracket being popped off 🙂🙃

I have a deep bite and got Incognito lingual braces, so bite turbos were non-negotiable for me. However, since they are part of the custom brackets (check out how incognito works) they are manufactured based on your actual teeth shape and they are not uncomfortable at all. They've actually improved my occlusion and I can feel my TMJ is less engaged than before. Give it time and you will get used to them.
I noticed when they applied mine they didn’t tell me to not look at it but they held this orange thingy which I assume was for eye protection and I think I had special glasses too😂
Awesome video Dr. Grey. I have bite turbos for two reasons, one to bring the maxillary right second molar forward a little and secondly to bring the maxillary right canine forward which is way very backward, which looks very bad. I just got that backward canine tooth bonded to the bracket and tied to the archwire with a long metallic ligature, which is there to pull it forward. Initially I felt like the ligature is really working good because of the pressure, but that pressure just faded away after a few days and now I don't feel any pressure of being pulled, so it feels like the tooth movement has stopped & it is going to take many days to come forward...huhh. Sorry for the long narration. I am sure I don't feel any pressure because I got used to it. I would like to know how these bite turbos are removed at the end? Also would like to know the types of archwires, viz. Ti-Ni, SS, Beta chromium, etc. and their respective mechanism. As the Ti-Ni and Beta chromium wires are heat activated, their mechanism can be understood, but how does the SS wire work? I am really curious to know that. Thank you so much for your great videos. You don't know how excited I am always to see your videos, as they really get me acquainted with this magical orthodontic treatment.

The bite turbos are removed with a handpiece and a drill, being careful to avoid the tooth structure. You don't need to be anesthetized and won't feel it, so don't worry! =]

At my orthodontist these are called bite blocks.
I have on my molars and the teeth directly above the bite blocks hated me for a few days. I got my bite blocks raised now at the 4 month mark and it wasn't painful thankfully.

If you have bite turbos currently Are you guaranteed to have rubber bands in the feature
Not necessarily! Most patients finish treatment with rubber bands but having bite turbos don't make it a guarantee

My bite turbos are broken, so I have to get them again. But I’m telling you without them is uncomfortable and a little painful when it touches your brackets and if you just got your wire and rubber changed too . Don’t worry I made a appointment to get them refilled.

Love your videos! Been subscribed since the hundreds :) So what is a good solution for someone that has gaps between every tooth? My husband is terrified of dentists and I am trying to encourage him to visit one for a consultation. He is afraid that if they bring all of his teeth together he will have major gapping towards the back. Is there a solution for this?

A consultation is generally just with a mirror so nothing scary there! Regarding space closure, most people will never notice any "gap" towards the back. Generally we bring the front teeth backwards but it is all case-dependent so it's kinda tough to answer without an exam! Have him go in and get a consult - he's got nothing to lose!

Dr. Greg I e had bite turbos going on 3 months (same amount of time I’ve had braces) after about a month, right before my first adjustment, I started “clenching” or “grinding” my teeth. My front bottom teeth hit the back of my top teeth when I’m talking or chewing!! I have a constant small headache and jaw pain... plus I’ve noticed my bottom teeth have “arched” up in a sense... they used to straight across at the bottom now there’s a “hump” or arch in the front... is this from the clenching?
One site of my bite turbos just dropped few minutes ago when I was chewing bacon hahaha.. Still have one turbo to support in the other side. Hopefully can stay til the next appointment 😆
