  • This classic recipe celebrates the tender fillet of beef which Jamie encases in puff pastry with a layer of mushrooms, garlic and herbs before cooking to golden and crisp perfection. Served with a rich homemade gravy and fresh greens this dish hits the spot every time.

      +houston34 Note that when he cut into the Wellington the mushrooms and the Beef started to separate from the Pastry. Yup. Chilling the Beef for a couple of hours allows the beef to rest and everything fits nice and snug. ;)

    Big fan of both Jamie and Gordon.
    They are both chefs, so it would be safe to say both have their own signatures and styles.
    Jamie feels a little relaxed while Gordon is more haute cuisine BUT
    at the end of the day.
    Both of them are great chefs.

      @JAN2MARS Před 8 lety +14

      Agreed. Both of their takes on this dish are great. In my opinion, Gordon's looks more visually appealing but Jamie's looks more simplistic and easy to make.
      Either way, if it tastes good then that's enough for me.

      ***** No. Oliver is needlessly fancy, using pricy products and a lot of bling bling, where Ramsay focuses on the essential parts of the dish. He's using ingredients you can afford and if not, he's always there with a cheaper substitute. He is also constantly explaining and I get the feeling where Jamie is showing off, Ramsay is teaching his audience something they can reproduce in their own homes.
      Once Jamie put salmon on a bread and seasoned it. That was an extra video. You know what I'm trying to tell you? ;D

      I am sorry, I like Jamie, but Gordon's Wellington is just superior, no doubt about it. Also, Jamie must have expected such comparisons when he put up this video. This Wellington is missing some nice mustard, parma ham and some resting before every stage. Interesting take, but I'd rather stick to Gordon's Wellington.

    I make Wellingtons all the time using all kinds of meats -- it's a great way to cook a pork loin or mixed cuts of lamb that have been minced and formed into a loaf using an egg to make it hold together.
    Jamie's tip about seasoning the board and rolling the meat is simple and brilliant! I also like his really thick layer of mushrooms and livers. I previously used a food processor to make a paste, but I really like the look of his rough-chopped mixture -- the individual flavors would be much more pronounced.

    Ramsays Wellington may be good, but at least I can see what's going on here, because the camera man knows how to do his job! On Gordon's videos, the camera has a damn seizure and zooms in on the most weird things

    Where is the english mustard? And the hamm? Why didn't you dry out the mushrooms? This doesn't seems like beef wellington.

    • @DG95461
      @DG95461 Před 8 lety +3

      He dried out the mushrooms by cooking them for 15 minutes and then adding the breadcrumbs to absorb the moisture. Agree with you on the ham and mustard though

    I personally like both, but as a muslim, this version is not bad at all, simple because Gordon's version consist of Parma ham. WAIT, nothing against ham, but just nice to know that I can make a Beef Wellington without using any ham #bothisgood #dontfightpeople

    • @Lorfmor
      @Lorfmor Před 8 lety +3

      +SplashMoney XI yeah yeah religion here and there but just so you know there is nothing wrong with meat from pig, it is just as clean as beef. It is just that pork doesnt taste nice if it undercooked, it is the opposit with beef, it taste better when it is pink or medium rare/rare :)

      @splashmoneyxi2517 Před 8 lety +9

      Harry Stallone bro, i'm not ashamed because no one here is bashing you for eating pork. I didn't say that there's something wrong about eating pork. If you like pork, good, then i'm happy for you lol. I can't eat pork, doesn't mean i hate everyone that eats it, in fact, I go to restaurant with my friends and they order pork all the times. I'm just happy that there's a substitute for ham, so anyone out there who doesn't consume pork could try cooking the dish and try it out.
      Sidar Erdem he wasn't discrediting islam bro, haha, he just wanted to tell all of us that porks are nice too, that's all.
