  • This 2008 Toyota Camry Hybrid had No power brakes , very hard to brake / stop , abs light on , brake light on , check vsc system light on , and that annoying constant ringing sound. And the abs pump constantly cycling on and off.
Codes C1252 Brake booster pump motor on time abnormally long.
    C1256 Accumulator pressure low.
Had a bad Accumulator , not holding pressure. Which is part of the abs module assembly. This video will show you how to replace the abs module and the brake bleeding procedure afterwards.
    Hope you enjoy the video.

2007 Camry Hybrid with 145K miles currently. This is my 3rd ABS Module replacement...Original went out at 120K then had the Toyota refurbished unit go out under warranty less than 12K miles. That replacement lasted a little longer but started to go out at 135K miles. I been driving it since 135K miles with the lack of pressure noise getting more frequent and the cycling on of the pump when I turn off the car or open the drivers door going on for a good 15-30mins later. Drove it longer while doing this to see how long it would go before it threw on the warning dash lights...so about another 10K miles I was able to get out of it. I got an OEM used 56K mile takeout and swapped it last week. The swap was fairly easy taking about 45mins as a first timer. Now to the tricky part about bleeding the brakes....I see a lot of videos using the fancy computer to bleed. We did not have that luxury of an expensive computer but had a code reader that could clear the codes also. So we did it the old fashion method while the car was off pumping the brakes and bleeding. Thus far about 500 miles later and a few 80+ mph stops to test out the brakes and all is perfect again. Also had to have my hybrid battery replaced at 136K miles. I went with Greentec Auto as they have a 4yr unlimited mileage warranty and no prorating either and thus far the battery has done great. No issues at all and they came right to my house and swapped it out in about 2hrs time. They are not the cheapest but I plan on keeping my Camry a long time and its been trouble free except for the ABS module but looks like I can comfortably swap this out myself when needed again.

I didn't bleed my brakes, swapped the ABS unit and all the lights and Beeping noise immediately gone, brakes worked fine....I did attempt to later bleed them, but never got any air...just gave up and kept driving, that Module went for maybe another 60k....before it blew out again.

I used your video to fix my 07 Camry Hybrid today. I installed the old. new replacement abs module, started the engine, and the unit sucked up most of the brake in the brake reservoir to fill what was lost during the installation. I didn't know how to bleed the brake lines but I believe the unit may have pushed out any pocket of air when it was sucking. I added more brake fluids to the reservoir and cleared the codes, and all of the warning lights disappeared. The car is breaking normally again. Thank you!

Same issue with my 2011 camry hybrid, i drive a taxi I've done 525k's on it. I live in newzealand, couldn't apply brakes at all, literally had to drive at 20ks an hour luckily it happened during night time and i had a customer on board few seconds before the ABS pump died. Its costing close to $1000 NZD for replacing the pump including labour. I've also noticed couple of times a ROOSTER @10:41. Thank you for the video sir.

I was 1 week off from work, i live in Wellington City, try with any toyota wreckers/dismantlers you'll find it, its not worth buying $2k part for an old car like us which did 525k's. Good luck in finding the ABS PUMP.

You DONT have to bleed technically!...just swap ABS Module and lights cleared on their own when I started the car.....brakes worked fine.....the problem isn't air, it's a bad ABS module, when you swap in a new Module, the ECU immediately Knows its a new unit...and it can self purge any air that enters the unit upon startup....which should be minimal as brake fluid is slowly dripping out of the lines as you install anyways! I actually had the techstream computer, but didn't find any air.

I have Camry Hybrid 2007, and i changed the ABS module 3 times for the last 1 year. Every time i replaced i had to go to a guy with scanner to reprogram the new module (3x $100)..Finally i find out that the problem is in the pressure accumulator not in the module. I removed it, drill a hole, and mount a check valve. I refilled it with nitrogen (~2000 PSI) and mount it back to the ABS module. I succeed to bleed the lines (all 4) with manually controlling the pump and the valves through a custom made connector. I drained about 200ml on each line-3 times already with no air bubbles coming out, but looks like there is still air somewhere in the ABS module. I have brakes but they are not perfect. My guess is there is air in the accumulator - before mount it back i filled it with brake fluid but still. Any help will be great appreciated. Great video by the way.

As far as service data goes you are supposed to bleed it in the order shown with a scan tool in order to have it bled properly. I have not attempted to do it manually before so I'm not 100% sure what the turnout would be (whether or not air would still be stuck in lines)

When it reaches a point where enough fluid pressure cannot be held or held long enough in the abs pump/accumulator, you will have an error on the dash similar to this video. My personal opinion would be to wait, especially if it is braking properly and you don't have any faults coming on. It is normal for the pump to cycle to build back up pressure when needed. But it will happen more frequently (even when not pressing on the brakes) when it's starting to internally fail.
