    So many stupid comments in here. Let me simplify it for you. This pedal has more drive then a tube screamer. So you can put it into a clean amp to play Blues. A slightly dirty amp to play Rock. Or turn the gain all the way up on your amp, and use it to play metal. You can also use it as a clean boost. Its a vary versatile pedal. That sounds better than a tube screamer.

    • @AudreyYun
      @AudreyYun Před 5 lety +4

      when i tried em out tube screamer sounded better to me personally, but honestly the difference was very minimal. sd1 had more drive, a bit more clarity, and added a bit more noise. very minimally different flavour, but way cheaper lol.

      electric ritual thanks for your input. I'm an intermediate player who somehow acquired an sd-1 super overdrive pedal and am currently playing with some mid 50 year old headbangers and need something to meet the needs of the heavy metal covers we play. I can't wait for our Tuesday jam night..

    Love Don. I can't believe there's not more comments. Love the pedal, he demonstrates it excellently. And I can , once again, inadvertently learn from another fellow guitarist. I just saw a concert with Los Lonely Boys. He's right up there with that dudes quality of playing. I love listening and relistening his demos.

    I really enjoy the Sweetwater demos. I'v had my SD-1 for a long time. Normally run it into a clean amp at unity gain with drive at 12:00. Higher drive settings than that adds more compression, but it's great for slide. I play an Epi Les Paul and use my volume knobs for more or less gain. This is a great overdrive pedal. I'm going to add another drive pedal and use the SD-1 as a boost.

    my signal chain is:
    MIM Telecaster -> tuner pedal -> Boss DS-1 -> Boss SD-1 -> Amoon Chorus -> Deltalab DD-1 -> Boss DD-6 -> Boss RV-7 -> 90's Fender Blackface amp
    the SD-1 is probably my most-used pedal on the entire board, followed closely by the DS-1. Boss really knows what they're doing when it comes to cheap and useful pedals.

    When I plug my new superdrive into my amp im getting a screech kinda sound coming though the pedal? settings are all at 12 o'clock.
    I have a fender champion 40 - In your demo i dont hear anything like that (when the guitar is not being played), anyone any ideas why im getting this interference/sound - its not usable

    • @jas_bataille
      @jas_bataille Před 4 lety

      Are you using isolated power or a well charged battery? If not, that’s probably the problem. If this doesn’t solve the problem, check out your sound with other pedals. If it still persist, change the wires. Then check you output jack on your guitar, especially pn strats, those have a tendency to get loose. Still not working properly? Check with a different guitar. If you changed all of the above and it is still noisy, it’s probably the amp itself. Do you ear that sound when the pedal is on? If it doesn’t bother you when you play, then use a noise gate. Pro tech here. Been 3 months I know but maybe this helps you :) Stay safe and rock on!

  • @paulolsen6870
    @paulolsen6870 Před 5 lety +1

    This pedal seems to let the guitar come though without a lot of added color....it will sound different with every guitar you run through it. People love throwing around the phrase "transparent tone"....well this one nails that. Has a good mid range hump if you like that sort of thing.

    • @jas_bataille
      @jas_bataille Před 4 lety +1

      About every overdrive pedal ever made boost the midrange. If it boosted the highs, it would easily feedback; if it boosted the lows, it would burst your speaker cone on your amp if you drive it crazy alongside the pedal. ;) Sound engineer here

    I have a Boss SD-1 running into a Fender Pro Junior.The amp is set for maximum overdrive. I cannot tell any difference with the pedal engaged.The amount of crunch is not easily identifiable.Guitar is a Fender Strat. Can you give me any suggestions what might be going on.I am a customer of Sweetwater.

    • @darrellmcdonald7883
      @darrellmcdonald7883 Před 5 lety

      I have a pro.jr also.... at volume above 8 it doesn't really get louder it just gets more saturated... I would suggest you turn amp volume to about 7 and then you will notice different tone when pedal is on. Or turn guitar volume down to clean up tone... at maximum on your amp it should be.pretty overdriven to begin with. If boost is what you want I would suggest a T.C. ELECTRONIC MICRO BOOST. It's a white pedal.and just boosts it up to.20db. It's a loud clean boost that cost about $45.00 new.

    • @TimOttinger
      @TimOttinger Před 10 lety +2

      Dave Rooney I suspect it was the recording apparatus instead of the pedal. Other demos have it sounding rich and fat. This one sounds like it's coming through a 9v battery amp.

    Awesome demonstration! Great sound as well, going to plug mine in tomorrow and see how it turns out.
    I have a question that I was wondering if someone might be able to troubleshoot. So I have a Blackstar 60W tube amp set on the more distored, "metal" sounding setting with a B.C. Rich Ironbird with fishman active pick ups, and a 10 foot Mogami Cable. When I'm just sitting there with the guitar resting not doing anything I'm getting this almost high pitched, super annoying constant ringing noise. The only way to really alleviate it is to rest my hand on the strings to mute the feedback sound. If I turn on the voicing button my amp which basically makes it a more treble enhanced distored sound the ringing high pitched noise with the guitar resting is especially atrocious and even louder.
    Is this normal? Am I doing something wrong I'm unaware of?
