- We have a spindle out of. Rockwell beltsandewr that needs a repair made on the bearing journal. I'll use my Eutectic flame spray equipment to build up the worn journal and machine it back to specs.

There are two things that will get me to prioritize watching Abom videos, shaper and spray welding.
And no CNC 🙂
Same!
@@Paul-FrancisB I disagree - I love the CNC, but the mix of techniques is important.
Really enjoy the spray welding and Abby's cinematographer and her nails are so very pretty. You're a very lucky man, Adam
Adam does things in his shop with the ease and confidence of a man with lots skill that comes from experience. To paraphrase Chuck Berry, Adam plays his machines "just like a-ringin' a bell".
It is always a pleasure to watch a Journeyman at his craft. They make it all seem so effortless.
Hey Adam, when my husband was an apprentice mold maker (maybe early ‘70s), he worked on that spray welder for the company that made it. Trying to help get it to stick on flat surfaces. He worked for Los Angeles Die Mold in El Monte, CA. In 1977 we moved to Oregon and he opened his own Mold building shop and was in business for himself for 35 years. Our oldest son followed him in the business and is still manager for a Plastic Injection shop. Enjoy your machining videos and adventure videos.
I love that Abby likes to be out in the shop and likes to help you when she can. My wife is curious and will come out and ask questions, but we are still working on getting her to stick around and help out 😉.
Yeah back in the Abom home shop we all love-!
Great video, you and Abby make such a great team. A-team getting it done thank you
Thanks Adam. Always enjoy seeing flame spray journal build-up.
Short, quick and to the point. Cant be any simpler than that !!!!
Early morning video from Abom was totally not expecting that!
Excellent work, thanks for taking us along
Nice to see you back in the old shop, so do miss it & the content, great to see the flame spray welding & Abby's camera work.
My wife wants me to fire her too sometimes, not going to happen lol I need her more than she knows.
This is my molten metal flamethrower. There may be many like it, but this one is ...
Abomb throwing down the volcano! Man of integrity, even left in the false start.
Nice camera work Abbey. Thanks for the video. enjoy some coffee
Those old Rockwell Delta shop machines are almost all excellent, and i can see why this one was worth repairing rather than finding something else... Their 3/5hp 220v Unisaw, in particular, are just plain old fantastic, lifetime machines. I have my grandfather's, prob 60 years old and stil better than almost anything available new today, imho.
That looks like a nice sander- for either metal or wood or (ugh) plastic, etc.
It's wonderful after all this time you still do little projects.
Good job and presentation is always
Nice repair Adam 👍👍
started off at my job. with 0 experience. i was put in a sand blast booth. to strip coating.. perfected that. then they moved me up to thermal spraying coating on shafts. rolls. sleeves anything that needed coating.. perfected that. now i get to prescision grind the shafts down to finish. with tight tolerances..i love doing this every day. seeing a shaft come in looking warn out to the max. and how we repair and it goes out looking brand new. thats satisfying, great job.
I love seeing the spray weld! Always such a cool process to see.
Nice job Adam .
Every day something new.
This is the machinist life.
Beautiful and interesting life.
John Grizopoulos retired from Greece.
nice video Abom79
Liked the more relaxed, low key presentation
We always need more Abby!
abby you do a great job!
Nice work Adam. Funny I just got the same Rockwell 31-710 finish sander. It's a beauty. I made some parts for it. I have a few videos of that. Well done
❤ I enjoyed watching this episode and I have used the flame spray many times and it is a great time saver for the shop and a money saver for the customer.
I'm such a sucker for metalspray!! lol Why make a new one when you can fitz up the old one! ;) Nice work Adam, as always!
Thanks for posting this... hope y'all are enjoying your vacation!
Like Ringing A Bell...Adam is afraid of nothing in the machine shop...thanks Adam
I never knew about spray welding until I saw you do it several years ago. I just find it fascinating and enjoy watching it. I use to use the old buzz box aka Lincoln stick welder when I was a teenager working with my cousin on his race car. I got back into welding, this time MIG a few years before COVID started. Thanks again for your informative videos. HI Abby!! 👋
I repaired an early 1960s craftsman table saw that I got for free because the blade arbor was worn, I welded it up and turned it to size and it works perfect. my main problem was the original super fine left handed threads were destroyed so I had to drill and tap the end and make a "cap" to run up against the blade but it works great just slightly more difficult to change a blade.
7:05 That is an image from a Hollywood film that should be made, complete with lead actor. Schwarzenegger - eat your heart out!
Not to mention the flame spray repair is a MUCH quicker option than machining an entirely new shaft. I'd repair it too, doesn't make a lot of sense to commit to making a new shaft when you can repair it so quickly and easily. Also, flame spray is just cool as h-ll so use it every opportunity you can lol.
It got done.Thank you,Adam.
Thanks for the show guys 🍻
Nice video, Adam! And excellent camera work by Abby.
Awesome job and thank you for sharing. !!👍😎🛠️🗜️👨🏭
Abby’s right, Adam’s the cutest CZcams machinist out there! Although we don’t know if TOT is hiding any dimples so maybe Adam would get knocked down to second place!
Clickspring Chris also has that accent going for him…
I never get sick of any thing to do with spray flame
Love that 6 jaw chuck.
Your early...:) but great for us UK viewers. Great work as always Abom.
He went through the trouble of cleaning up the end he did not work on, but I'm curious why he didn't also clean the large middle section?
Nice video, thanks ADAM AND ABBY.
That’s a really neat technique. I would love to try and make a spray gum setup or find a cheaper Alternative to start off with. But I’m sure it’s a get what you pay for type of purchase.
Very interesting video sir. Thanks for showing this even though it’s been shown several times already. It’s just so fascinating to watch. 🍻
Great photography.
What guy doesn’t like playing with fire?
love it
Another reason for him to spray-weld this instead of making a whole new shaft is that this job is _quid pro quo_ , and making a whole new shaft would pretty much require Adam to charge the customer for it.
That spray on welding technique is fascinating. ... Are you coming to Cali for the Summer Bash?
Noooooo! Bring back the submarine goggles! The round ones!
They should use flame sprayers as torture tools in horror movies 👍
Years ago I used a flame spray product called Metco. It was a hi-nickle composition and wondered if your product is similar.
Really enjoy these videos!
Great Video as usual. Instead of using Emery-Cloth, could one also use a straightened natural stone, or even an artificial diamond stone ? In theory the precision would be way greater, for the stiffness of the flat hand-held stone.
If you happen to read this, I’m wondering if you ever worry the spray will get on and possibly damage the chuck. If I did this I would cover the chuck with stainless heat treat foil.
Awesome repair.
That really is a hot mess for a while there 😁
I see TMX chucks and other things in your videos. I'm from Poland and I haven't heard anything about TMX. I was a bit surprised that TMX comes from Poland. I wonder where these products are produced.
Agreed. Big chips and big flames
Good morning Adam!
Is this spray welding anything like what the US Navy started on the hulls of shapes with Titanium and/or Aluminum?
I’m sure it may have been answered some ware you must not be heating the shaft hot enough to have it warp
Is it that cold? You’re wife’s hat indicates arctic cold, and I have a hard time believing that 😂
Is that a new Eutectic flame spray setup or did I miss something earlier? Could be me but that powder carrier and jet setup sure look different
I am surprised at how little masking is required. Is there much reflected spray on such areas as the chuck?
Good
☹️🇬🇧
Nice job ! Isn't worth protecting the chuck from the flame spray?
Must not hurt if or he would shield it in some way.
How does o e contact you about working on a project? I have a couple of things that need to be machined. Please advise
I have question what do you think about Starrett Drop indicator?
D U N "Dun"
What kind of hardness do you get from this coating?
Is there anything more manly the fire and steel?
flame spray, is there a other methode oxygen acetylene, those gases are becoming ridiculous expansive were I live.
What would the problem be if you welded it and then machine it back? Was it better than spray weld?
Wont the shaft now be very warped due to the temperature?
Adam how do you feel about using burnishing tools? Gilles
..................God bless
Can you flame spray braze alloys?
and now for something completely different: what about that piece of land you bought some years ago? Is there any development there?
All going well; he mentioned it recently.
Yes. Inquiring minds want to know. 🙂
Hello it’s Abby and we are going to start this summer!! 🎉 We will be posting the progress on @abomadventures Thanks for supporting Adam! ❤
Getting all the measurements for replacement machining will take much longer..only one diameter to machine to..
Much prefer your videos in your home shop with manual machines. There are hundreds of videos made by others out there of CNC machines cranking out parts with little or no actual machining skills being demonstrated.
It depends on whether you producing new products, or repairing old ones. It’s almost impossible, financially, to repair something with CNC, but it’s also almost impossible financially, these days, to manufacture something new manually.
Not first but not last.
Looking to make an anvil out of a piece of railroad track and would like to make a hardy hole one end 1 inch square hole with hand tools I don’t have machining tools
Early today. 👍🏻
Where you at ADAM.
DUN done lol
Its sad but your 15 minutes is probably over. You can bounce back due to your quality 1:40 work.😅😅
I agree, but he did it to himself. Wonder how he likes paying rent on the new shop, when it didn't grow the channel subs or views one bit. And of course, taking two months off every year to drive around the country in an RV like you're retired doesn't help, either. I'm not sad one bit, he doesn't listen to feedback and seems really entitled. So be it.
You two should just get hitched already! Roger from Calgary.
😛😛😛😛😛😛❤❤❤❤👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Just so you know, folks - you don't _have_ to smile or "show teeth" on a photo or portrait. It's not a rule. 😉
But isn’t a smile a lot better than a frown?
@@ellieprice363
No need to frown. Who told you that?
You can smile without showing teeth.
Hello Abby films you
Your 15 is ending bye.
FIRST!
Nope.
IS HE EATING GOOD OR GOODY.
