Her possessiveness and loyalty toward Tyrell was rare to see on film these days. She was like a murderous stalker who married her prey, and the obsession never dulled, it just changed from "stalk" to "protect." Both creepy and somehow admirable. Also her obsession was a bit understandable, because Tyrell was (despite his evil and sadism and thirst for power) a unique man with vision, ambition, intelligence and skill. This series had some absolutely amazing characters.

The most amazing part i've found on reddit was that the power struggle between elliot and joanna is shown by slighthly changing the camera angles as scene starts to progress(elliot looks smaller and joanna gets a more close up shot) to depict how she is in control of the conversation, and making elliot more frightened as they keep talking more.

This is the scene that made me think "wait is her husband just another of Elliots personalities and she's totally used to it and in this scene is like oh you're Elliot today and not my husband"
This scene is so unnerving because it reveals what Joanna truly is, a true psychopath. Elliot is great and reading people, we see this throughout the show, he knows what people's strengths and flaws are, etc. However, Joanna is arguably better at reading people and can clearly tell throughout the scene that Elliot is lying to her but ends up thinking he's probably not important (until s2 anyways). Joanna is also a master manipulator, we see her manipulate Tyrell and the bartender throughout the series, she is REALLY good at it. She is easily one of the smartest, most calculated characters in the show. So when you have the ultra paranoid Elliot who's already dealing with Shayla's death, getting off drugs, finding out Darlene is his sister, Mr. Robot isn't real, and you combine this with a woman that's scary as shit and instantly reads him like a book, Elliot is terrified by this. Since the scene is from his POV we get the very creepy and unnerving music as he panics and tries to escape her gaze. "I feel like she can hear us" essentially shows that Elliot knows that Joanna is extremely good at reading him. Brilliant scene!
Elliot IS TYRELL. The new season we find out that Elliot has another persona but don't know who it is. My guess is that he is Tyrell which is why she was acting strange here.

Its a true testament to the shows acting, writing and music that a mother with a baby looked and felt like a terrifying predator without saying anything remotely threatening.

The scene is shot narrowly to give the effect of being stuck in a situation that u want to end. The depth of field is quite confusing because the background looks clear yet bleak. The director is really good
In my opinion the creepiest scene is when Angela first tries to blow the whistle about the leaks from the power plant and this woman kindly asks her to walk down an ominous dark hallway to "answer a few questions". It creeped me out and gave me goosebumps. It was so obvious that had she chosen to do so, that death would be awaiting her.
The face she makes when she gets close and says "thank you....Ollie" she knew, he wasn't hiding anything, she knew exactly who he was from possibly before that moment
I love how Sam Esmail lets his influences flow through him. This show is so interesting on quite a few different levels. The lighting, color, camera work, editing. The writing! The respectful and clever references to other works, and characters that feel like a portal to the writer's personality (especially with those cameos lol). I feel like I'm just scratching the surface. This was an ambitious series, and I think there are parts that someone could say were a bit wobbly but overall this will remain somewhere close to the top of my list of favourites. Elliot suffer from DID, mr. robot is one his personalities. However I believe that Tyrel is the original host but he himself doesn’t know it. However his wife being aware of his disorder, noticed he wasn’t his normal self so he asked who he was, and he was unable to give an actual answer which is why he said “it feels like she could hear us”.
This scene really shows how extremely important it is to have right music for your scenes to perfectly portray the scene.. Watching this without the music c would simply be like watching a social awkward guy with a beautiful woman. But the way that the music is pushing up the pressure and overall creepiness if the scene is amazing.
The fact that that season 4 finale deleted scene revealed Tyrelliot theory was correct makes this scene the most insane shit i didnt see coming even years after this show ended
The fact is the directing is beautiful in this scene. You can see that elliot definitely has the upper hand by the camera angle and how close it is to his face to represent the dominance, but as the scene goes through, the camera steps back from elliot and gets closer and closer to Joanna. Especially in the last scene its brilliant.
I really love all the comments regarding the music. Scoring a film, T.V. or short film is never an easy task. The importance of music is so essential in the media of film and T.V., it basically is another actor in the genre.
I always identify such people as psychopaths, they don't seem "awake" or "realize" that what they're doing is creepy and is instantly giving them away. Corneliussen nailed this acting at +120%, respect.

I feel like she knows his third personality, and that's why she's acting so weird, because she realizes he's acting like someone else; that he's not the person she knows. Maybe the other personality even knows Danish, and that's why she says that to him, almost as a test -- and to ensure that if he's lying and it IS the right personality that she's talking to, he can understand her.
I've always wondered whether or not Tyrell is genuinely real but it's too hard to string that theory together, there's no way Elliot would have the time to be Tyrell as well, his face is all over the world and the police were looking for him while Elliot was in jail. It would take a huge amount of explaining for them to be the same person but Tyrell has always been an odd character. The way he just goes off in the last episode we saw him in was suuuper weird too.

This woman was creepy because of the mystery around her. However, we find out her motives are shallow and simple. She makes mistakes trying to manipulate people and dies in a pathetic way because of it. She wasn't creepy at all. She was quite sad. Creepiest thing? The show proves her to be a psychopath. I love how well done this scene is. Something feels so off about EVERYTHING in the scene. Elliot is in control in the beginning then very quickly hes in danger. You even feel like him and start looking over his shoulder for anything that could happen next. Just a hint to find out the piece of what is so wrong in this scene. Its amazing.

The silences while trying to navigate a conversation are conpletely menacing, and your thoughts feel so loud and jumbled that it really seems like people can hear them and that you're panicking inside.

I miss this show. Especially her. Was very annoyed they killed her off early without developing her. The actress has a supreme command of the screen and her character was fascinating. She should have been in it until the end.

In my opinion the creepiest scene is when Angela first tries to blow the whistle about the leaks from the power plant and this woman kindly asks her to walk down an ominous dark hallway to "answer a few questions". It creeped me out and gave me goosebumps. It was so obvious that had she chosen to do so, that death would be awaiting her.

I love how Sam Esmail lets his influences flow through him. This show is so interesting on quite a few different levels. The lighting, color, camera work, editing. The writing! The respectful and clever references to other works, and characters that feel like a portal to the writer's personality (especially with those cameos lol). I feel like I'm just scratching the surface. This was an ambitious series, and I think there are parts that someone could say were a bit wobbly but overall this will remain somewhere close to the top of my list of favourites. Thanks for letting me speak!
I always enjoyed after each episode there was a huge discussion group on Facebook about the episode and trying to figure out what was going on. Kinda like how everyone is discussing this scene in particular in the comments

However his wife being aware of his disorder, noticed he wasn’t his normal self so he asked who he was, and he was unable to give an actual answer which is why he said “it feels like she could hear us”.

The fact is the directing is beautiful in this scene. You can see that elliot definitely has the upper hand by the camera angle and how close it is to his face to represent the dominance, but as the scene goes through, the camera steps back from elliot and gets closer and closer to Joanna. Especially in the last scene its brilliant.

I feel like she knows his third personality, and that's why she's acting so weird, because she realizes he's acting like someone else; that he's not the person she knows. Maybe the other personality even knows Danish, and that's why she says that to him, almost as a test -- and to ensure that if he's lying and it IS the right personality that she's talking to, he can understand her.
I've always wondered whether or not Tyrell is genuinely real but it's too hard to string that theory together, there's no way Elliot would have the time to be Tyrell as well, his face is all over the world and the police were looking for him while Elliot was in jail.
It would take a huge amount of explaining for them to be the same person but Tyrell has always been an odd character.
The way he just goes off in the last episode we saw him in was suuuper weird too.

I know this is a scene from a show and something sinister was going on, but this is how social anxiety feels. Fight or flight mode, always, even if someone is just asking you the time. The silences while trying to navigate a conversation are conpletely menacing, and your thoughts feel so loud and jumbled that it really seems like people can hear them and that you're panicking inside.
Not going to lie: I clicked because the lady looked beautiful and the title intrigued me. I know nothing about this show, so I watched it without context. The music was so unsettling, the woman's gaze made me feel a little sick, the man's reluctance was anxiety inducing. Add to that: can't confirm if that's a baby in her hands or a weapon.
