      Oh, you should hear the raw footage. We would have to put it on an adult-rated channel. It went on for about five minutes and he continued ranting about it for two more hours. One of my best hunting experiences. Thanks for watching.

      +Prem Skee - Probably the most memorable hunt we've done in this TV project. Ole is in his last days. I stopped by his house last month. He has no idea who I am. Sad to see, but grateful that Neil helped me get him out for what was Ole's last buck. Thanks for the kind comments.

    This was the first episode, now out of many, that I watched and the reason I kept on watching. Your concern for your friend, Ole, to have at least one more hunt and your light hearted prank with his tag showed me you have the right attitude towards life and hunting. I like to support that.

    This is a great video and funny. I thank you for caring about your friends and older hunters sir. I hunted with the same friend for almost 50 years. First to go was his eyes do to an eye disease, he could still see to 50-75 yards so I was his eyes and ears. My friend was in his late 80's then. We roamed all the mts. in PA for a longtime and we killed many a deer. He could only hunt 2-3 days as it wore him down. He would always tell me go hunt I am to old, well when it was hard for him to walk I would drive him around and get him close to deer as we knew all the old logging roads from longtime ago. I would walk many miles as you did trying my beast to run one by for him. We always had fun no matter if we got a deer or not, just being together was just fine with us. Now we did this from his late 80's till he was 94 years old. At 95 his body was just wore out and let him down. He got his buck and doe tags in 2015 but could not go, he wanted to shoot a doe for his daughter very badly. With three days to go before I return to California he ask me will you try to get a doe for my daughter. I hunted hard for 2 1/2 days with no luck but at 3:00 P M the last day I finally see a big doe at 370 yards away, I creep to within 330 yards shoot and down she goes, I have a deer for my friend for his daughter, very touching moment for me. Now I am a joker also so home I go take all my gear inside say nothing to him at all. Finally he says see anything I said yeah two and went to the rest room to wash the blood off my hands quickly, come back out and sit down start talking to him for 30 mins. he said no luck huh well maybe next year I can get one for her. I did not get all the blood off my hands and he sees it and said didn't get a deer huh, I said you asked me if I saw any deer right, I looked at him with tears in my eyes and said yes WE got a big doe he shook my hand and hugged me and said thank you. Five weeks later he passed away. We started out just friends and he turned out to be my second father after my dad passed away. Sir you helping your friends reminded me of this, very much touched me. God Bless you.

      +Chris Holmes - Oh Chris, if you could hear the audio of the rough cut, character would be amplified in a big way. He is one of the true characters of his time.

    • @HuntingTheWest
      @HuntingTheWest Před 8 lety +1

      I can just imagine that rough cut, based on what made it into the show, LOL! I have an old retired farmer friend who to me represents the hunting history in Alberta. He hunted back in the days of multi week pack trains into the mountains, shot 2 alberta caribou (for which hunting has been closed since around 1970), grizzlies and mountain goats when they were OTC tags (our grizzly hunt has now been closed for around 10 years and mountain goat is now a once in a lifetime hunt if you can get drawn (random draw, no priority)). Lots of good stories.
      Gotta tell you Randy I'm a little sad now. I think I've watched all of your shows on youtube :(
      I think I need to start researching what states a canadian can come down and hunt antelope on their own and start building some priority. I'll likely hunt antelope this fall in Alberta, but the next time I draw I'll likely be in my 60's, and that's just way to long to wait!
      Thanks,
      Chris
