Had Gemini running for a month and honestly after how slow it does anything I couldn't stand it on my S24 Ultra. Just changed back to Google Assistant the other day and has been amazing.
Totally agreed! I hate how they say Gemini can do a lot of things that Google Assistant can do and then in my experience, everything I asked it to do that I would normally ask Google Assistant to do, it would just always come back saying that as a large language model it can't do that. So it's basically just removing all of the features I need Google Assistant for and then just taking way longer to ask basic questions. Most people are not using Google Assistant just to ask it questions that you can find on Google search. Google Assistant is super helpful for setting reminders, timers, sending messages to people, making it remember something, and stuff like that. I don't understand why activating Gemini as the app has to replace Google Assistant entirely when it can't even do the Google Assistant functions. So ridiculous
@@patc2515 100 percent. It's almost like a gimmick. I would ask it questions and anything and would take 30 + seconds to generate. While Google assistant could do it in 2 seconds.
Instead of creating a new assistant why not just make improvements to Google Assistant?

Just a preference but google Assistant is better in almost every way.. gemini is an under grad.. where as assistant gives exact references.. like in phD paper.
I tried Gemini and it was okay... But I switched back to Google Assistant... I see a great future for Gemini but not right now... It doesn't do half the things Google Assistant does and is pretty worthless right now... And there will never come a time when this is worth $20 a month for me to use... I use my Google Assistant daily many many times per day.. when gemini can handle everything I need.. I'll switch over to Gemini

I like Gemini better but the only downside is lack of smart device controls and other actions assistant can do. I know Gemini is still in early stages and will most likely be added later.

Gemini is not as integrated as google Assistant, but in the future Gemini will be way better and more integrated in android than google assistant
The usecase for Gemini and Assistant are very different. Gemini is more for complex, involved work loads vs Assistant which is for quick and short prompts
The trouble is Google is making us choose one or the other on Android instead of giving us the option to have both at the same time

nobody uses samsung messages anymore though, unless your using an older device. google messages is the default
When you asked to send a text to a specific contact, you didn't give the same information to GA as to Gemini. So you got different results. Would have loved to see how Gemini would have acted if it got the same input as GA.
I did try it with same input, the results were no different
A big advantage of Gemini is its ability to understand natural language. You can ask questions the way you normally would and follow up with details, just like having a conversation.
Why Gemini is not working in google message
It's not very helpful as an assistant when it has to take the time to process your questions and provide the answer and more importantly, it's a terrible assistant when it can't do anything within your phones OS. I cannot stand the fact that they are calling Gemini and assistance or an addition to Google assistants, or the fact that they even have the nerve to say that Gemini can do many things that Google Assistant can do and yet anything you ask it to do on your phone, it basically just says it can't. Major let down. Hopefully one day they will integrate Gemini fully into the OS and it will have all of the features that Google Assistant has and more. Having access to the full capabilities and knowledge of him and I baked into an evolving version of Google Assistant that I can access from my phone, earbuds, or smartwatch is something I really look forward to.

The message miscue might be because on the Google assistant you asked to send a message to a known contact , on Gemini you only asked to send a message. You'd need to ask the same question to both and see if it responds the same.
Tried asking same question as well. It doesn't work
I have the Gemini set as the default assistant. When it runs into an issue it can't complete, I switch over to Google Assistant......then switch back.
I'm trying to help Gemini get better by using it a lot. 🤠👍

Until Gemini has a female voice, I won’t use it. I want to hear my answers from a female voice-bad news always sounds better that way, and you don't get as many harsh sounds. The fact that Gemini is still extremely slow is beside the point. I'll stick with the standard voice search for now.
Seems like both have their limitations. But Gemini has caught up the Assistant in my opinion and out performs it in things that assistant just cannot do.
Brother I want to open my whatsapp as floating whatsapp. But when I am clicking on whatsapp of edge / side panel the app is opening as full / normal app.

Thy notice Genie takes about 8 seconds to respond. For me that's a little too long. Get Something similar to Genie so you can keep Google Assistant add best to both worlds
From personal use Google assistant is way better at local tasks and some basic web tasks. Gemini is better at more complex web tasks and for some local tasks it seems to act as a middle man using Google assistant to execute them.

I thought I was the only one. I really wanted to believe in Gemini but honestly it was such a bad experience I even considered reactivating Bixby. Overall I just can't stand the abysmal speed that it takes to do everything and the excessive limitations.
I hope if they do improve it that they change the voices in other words you can add on a voice a female voice or a male voice you know because the Google Assistant has that you can change the voices but so far just because it shows that when you say to Google show me a cat on a horse give me specifics and then they'll show you more That's how you work it I don't know I don't like Gemini anyway Good luck with that

Genini just really isn't good at being an assistant yet. It needs a lot more optimization and baking before it's ready for prime time.
The fact that gemini works on google Assistant makes google still the better choice, thats why Gemini is lagging to much.

Gemini is super woke and controlled. Gemini sucks, it doesn't even work as an assistant because I can't do any of the things that the assistant can do. If you're simply asking questions that you can get the answers from a Google search, then yes Gemini is going to be more thorough than Google Assistant. But only Google Assistant can actually do things for you such as tasks on your phone that work within your phones OS / apps. It's definitely not an apples to apples comparison in terms of what it can do from an assistant standpoint. Gemini has a lot of work to do and I am rooting for it but at the same time, Google is so woke it's ridiculous. Lastly we need is something even more capable of putting bias into the information that you ask for when you just want factual info.
Google literally is going backwards with every app and it's frustrating
🤔 Mmm... Gemini is very slow, boring and crappy to be an AI. Even Bixby is faster and more accurate. We will have to wait at least two more years to make this comparison again. For now, I'll stick with Google Assistant.

On my phone they said if you get Gemini they're going to combine Google Assistant with it they said Gemini has problems now because it's new but it's going to get a lot better than Google Assistant in the future they said I can switch it back to Google Assistant manually but I don't know how to do it
