    Hey! Been watching your channel for awhile now and I've started a 16 Quart container for 'pedes! I've mixed Leafgro Organic compost and Scott's premium topsoil, along with sphagnum moss, apsen shavings, and hardwood leaves. Am I missing anything? And also, those two soils do not mention containing any fertilizers but I wanted to make sure with an expert before putting living organisms in there! Thank you

    • @Aquarimax
      @Aquarimax  Před 4 lety

      Dagan Hunt sounds like a pretty good mix to me...I would add the soaked oak or alder pellets if you can get them.
      I have not tried the mosquito bits with every species. It seems to work best in weekly doses.

    Hi! I wanna ask some questions which i hope you'll understand- for i'm not english speaking naturally, i'm from Hungary.
    I have some Spirostreptus sp.1-s. I have them since last year they were smaller when i bought them. I saw them SO rarely after putting them into the terrarium that i often digged them up- just to see if they are still alive?! I KNOW, you SHOULDN'T do THAT- but i was really worried that they are no more alive! They were of course O.K., so after a while i just let them be didn't dig anymore...
    Now that they are a bit older, they come up much often to the surface and i can watch them eat and crawling around. My question is: is that normal that you cannot see them often while younger? They just hide and molting the whole time...?
    Second question. I think their soil is not enough deep it's not even 10 centimeters....so i'd like to give them more but i have NO IDEA when there is some animals molting! Should i take them all out while giving more substrate or can i just put it on the old one- will they not suffocate...?
    Well that are my questions, thanx if you can answer them!

    • @Aquarimax
      @Aquarimax  Před 2 lety +1

      That was basically the same as my experience with these millipedes (and some other species too…) they are secretive when young and more active on the surface as adults.
      You can add depth to the substrate gradually. If you just add 1 cm on top every few days, that should be fine.
