    De-greasing tip. Zep Purple De-greaser. Spend the money buy the 5gallon cube, and a 1-2 gallon garden sprayer. The only thing better is gasoline. I've restored a lot of machines. Zep Purple and a pressure washer gets it done.
    Paint match: Looked pretty close. Maybe a touch lighter, but that might be due to the grey primer. I think I'd take some personal liberty and paint the grill black. Regardless it all looks better than it did.

    • @jtsbarnngrill6873
      @jtsbarnngrill6873  Před rokem +2

      I’ll keep the zep in mind. The color match is pretty close. I held some Stieger pics up to it after it was painted and I think the color is better than I expected. Thanks for the info!

      @ShainAndrews Před rokem

      @@jtsbarnngrill6873 Maybe add the paint manufacture and the mix ratios to the description? I see lots of guys looking for that color, and giving them a urethane option is certainly a step up.

  • @super6954
    @super6954 Před rokem

    Thanks for sharing your adventures with these old tractors you do a nice job but make them still usable without worrying about scratching them like guys do with trailer queen resto's. I did my first ferguson t20 when I was in school back in the late 80's, and done quite a few fordson majors, JCB backhoes and other tractors up until about 10 years ago when I kinda lost interest in the paint work and getting them 100% right. I did paint a 3 ton truck dump trailer conversion I built last year and sold, it looked good for the actual time I spent.
    I've never done a 4wd like this, I bought a Belarus 1790 cheap to use to pull my Belarus 10t spreader. one of the original owners painted it blue/ light grey and silver wheels on top of the original colors. I like his colors for the tractor but to be honest it looks like he pressure washed it masked the windows, and put the paint on while it was still damp with the soap applicator on the washer! So now its got major runs, paint flake and rust patches . I think it would look real sharp cleaned down and painted properly as those tractors are getting harder to find now. Thinking's the best part in the plan so far, it'd take weeks to prep. Then after I'd done the tractor I'd have to do the spreader, to make that look good hooked on the tractor, but they are getting kinda rare in Canada to ,so I don't know maybe I should make more an effort to save these 2 pieces of farming history. Take care.

    • @jtsbarnngrill6873
      @jtsbarnngrill6873  Před rokem +1

      That would make for a good looking setup! I have not seen a Belarus 4x4 in 30 years around here. Had a dealer in the area then, but they stopped carrying that line. Just a few small ones rotting away in the weeds here and there. Would make for a cool project!

    • @super6954
      @super6954 Před rokem

      @@jtsbarnngrill6873 Thanks for the reply, My history with Belarus started as a family dealership back in the U.K in the early 90's and running them on our farm. Yeah they have kinda gone round here as well lots got shipped for export a few years ago to. i still fix the odd front wheel assist ones for guys, and we still have one of our demonstration tractors from our U.K dealership on the farm now. It's getting real hard to find parts for the 1790 as all that stuff came from the Ukraine, We have no dealers local for the smaller MTZ tractors anymore either, and my personal stocks running out to. Oh yeah that 1790/spreaders quite the rig, she'll pull that spreader fully loaded at 25 mile an hour across the field with 180hp using the 4 speed powershift transmission, and the front axle suspension levels the bumps right out. For it's age it was quite advanced for factory spec compared to an 8430 Deere, but of course it's country of origin and it's name stigma really hurt them for sales ,so dealers didn't stay around long.
