I'm honestly kind of surprised David and Johanna weren't more upset at what Hilda did, but I suppose she did wind up saving everyone...
    - The mystical symbol you're describing is most commonly referred to as 'The Hand of Fatima' (though it predates Islam by centuries) and is a defensive amulet.
    - The guy in hardware store with the striped scarf is Luke Pearson, the creator of 'Hilda'.
    - In this setting it seems that anyone can perform magic, but witch seems like a professional title. Hilda is not a witch since she has no training, but is considered the witch for the purposes of dispelling the enchantment.
    Fake spoilers:
    - Hilda learns her lesson and never does anything this reckless/dangerous again!
    - While tidemice themselves never appear again, but they did curse Hilda to become a weremouse! Nobody figures it out for a while though...
    - Without the influence of tidemice, Johanna's career woes resume as she fumbles through a series of increasingly awful jobs

Maybe you should start a total oracle moment counter for the show? That way by the end of it you'll be able to tell how good of a witch you are

Finally, I'm all caught up. 1 of the core Hilda's character traits is her desire to help everyone with everything. I mean, we saw it pretty much in every episode. And here we finally see how that attitude can lead to awful consequences if u r not careful and don't ask for consent. I think the spell required only Hilda's will and some material components because it was meant to be used responsibly. The point of the spell is to help ur friends, but also to keep them forever with u. Which is why I think it's also a metaphor for how people around us can lose themselves if we do too much things instead of them. I mean, was that success ever David or Johanna's? It's so earie to see a good soul like Hilda do such a terrible thing, even if it was done accidentally.

The next episode is really good! I will reveal a single word from that episode: Jorts!
On a side note, have you listened to the Magnus protocol?
