    In the comments, there seems to be some confusion about the differences between the e-TWOW GT Sport / Uscooters GT Sport / Fluid Mosquito. I had the same confusion when I was trying to decide which to buy. This is what I learned: All three are made by e-TWOW. The e-TWOW GT Sport and Uscooters GT Sport are identical. The GT Sport has a 10.5Ah battery with Samsung cells, whereas the Mosquito has a smaller capacity battery (9.6Ah) with generic cells. I ended up buying the e-TWOW on amazon because I heard that the guy who handles their customer support there is excellent.

    I am so glad I purchased this scooter. So far, so great. I live in NYC with a 12.8 or so mile commute to work. In 33 degree weather, climbing uphill and Manhattan bridge, I got to work with 30% battery left. Going about 14-18 miles an hour. The performance in this weather condition is amazing! Can’t wait to ride it during the summer months as I am confident for better performance. The portability and speed plus acceleration is key. Starting and stopping and quickly maneuvering around NYC traffic is so valuable with this scooter. I had the Hiboy pro 2 and the acceleration was so slow that I wouldn’t feel confident quickly bypassing vehicles or making a light to the next cross street in a pinch. The one thing I don’t like about the scooter is the horn. For city scooting, I believe the volume is too low where people can’t hear it as much as other scooters. Overall, super happy with the purchase and that’s thanks to you guys and your reviews.

  • @astralvisionartmusic9303

    Thanks for the review. I received my GT Sport a few days ago, and I'm really digging it! I'm 169 lbs, and I was able to get 21.5 mile range traveling 15-16 mph on L3 speed limiter and using its cruise control function (otherwise my thumb gets sore holding down the thumb throttle for too long). 15-16 mph is plenty fast for my needs, but I did get 28.5 mph top speed (maybe I could get your mentioned 30 mph once I test it on a smooth, long bikeway), but this speed seems so fast that I'd need to invest in self protective gear. The added torque seems to climb inclines quite well. The left regen braking feels very smooth, and the right hand brake adds plenty of stopping power. The 29 lb weight is a huge advantage for portability. The narrow handlebars still feel natural to me. I do feel bumps in the road with the solid tires, but it's not too bad with dual suspension, and I'd rather have this than having to change occasional flat tires. The deck is a bit smaller than other scooters, but it's still comfortable enough to position my size 11.5 M shoes. One thing I figured out that the manual seems to get wrong: You have to hold the "S" button AND power button for a few seconds to reset the trip mileage (is this the case with your controller?). I tried to install a Peak Design bicycle phone mount, but the design doesn't seem to facilitate left handlebar mounting, so I'm going to try their motorcycle mount, which is more expensive, but it has position adjustment and added shock absorption.
    Overall, the GT Sport has been quite a satisfactory and worthy investment so far, and may your review and this comment help prospective users in their research into acquiring scooter joy!

    I will probably get this to go along with last year's gt model that I have. The speed + lightness combo is great. Top speed less than 20mph and it doesn't feel safe to go in a car lane. Heavier than 30 lb and it's a pain to maneuver, might as well get an ebike. This is the sweet spot!

    I absolutely love what they are doing with this scooter, simply the best in class by far, in terms of speed. I wish they had wider handle bars (with ability to fold) though that's my only gripe. I have the older s+ model (350 watt motor) and the portability is fantastic at only 15cm wide when folded. Mine literally sits up alongside the wall underneath where we hang our coats and I just grab it to nip to the shops. The tyres are small and yes u do need to be wary with stones and bumps but the amount of sharp stuff I’ve ridden over including broken glass mind that I didn’t spot until was too late is the plus side here. I didn’t wish for the GT too much until the SE came out but I’m always wary of riding if there is any chance of rain so the ipx5 rating is a great addition. If u haven’t already got an ultra portable get this one it’s simple as that. I am however disappointed that etwow/Uscooters haven’t improved the lighting and attempted indicator functions. I also think that the foam filled tyre technology that Segway have used for their e-series scooters could really change the game for this scooter in terms of grip and comfort as Paul was really impressed when he reviewed it and reckoned 80% similarity to pneumatics. I’m also wondering if etwow would ever go there with a ten inch wheel version….🤔

    E-TWOW (well UScooters, same thing) make probably one of the best 8 inch scooters.
    I really miss my old E-TWOW Eco. What I liked about them is that they are basically Oxelo Town 7 susp kick scooters modified and re-designed with motors.
    E-TWOW handles really good and suspension is much softer... compared to much heavier Ninebot ES2.

  • @Scheltokeeper

    E-twow. The kings of portability!
    I had the Booster V back in 2018. It was a nice little scooter. Light weight, fast and well equipped for such a small design. But there were too many cons in my opinion. The handlebars were much too narrow. The small and narrow 8 inch solid wheels are dangerous on wet surfaces and bumpy roads. Front driven scooters in general can be death traps in case of sudden motor phase faults. If it happens, you'll fly over the handlebars. Anyway...a few month later, i sold the Booster V and bought a Tarsa T9 offroad aka "IO Hawk Exit Cross" over here in europe. Bigger, heavier and bulkier, but much more comfortable and safer. Wide 10 inch hybrid treaded tubed tires can handle almost everything and i feel safe in every situation. My daily commuter since over 2240 miles!

The acceleration is very strong just because it has 200W more power than Booster V which has 500W, and it really go fast, but it also means that it will drain the battery more quickly and less mile range, so I set the speed limited to 16mph, it still pretty fast for me but hey safety first, and it get more mile range which is good for me.

    All these scooters need is a handlebar extension and theyre perfect ! Going that fast with narrow handlebars takes away stability and confidence. Extending the handlebars wont add bulk because they would fold down and go along the stem nicely. Someone needs to do this !

    • @thevoiceofreason4104
      @thevoiceofreason4104 Před rokem +1

      That would be challenging to pull off - you would need to clamp/bolt extensions to the ends of the current bars, because the folding mechanism is integrated into the handlebar. The handlebars are already a bit wobbly because of the folding mechanism, so extending them would probably make that worse. A better option is probably to just have an option for a non-folding handlebar for people that don't care about folding and prefer the stability and extra space for mounting accessories that a fixed handlebar would provide. (There is currently only a single 2 cm space on one side of the handlebar that accessories can be mounted to.) Another option would be to spec a wider screw-type handlebar.

    • @thehondaboi
      @thehondaboi Před rokem

      @@thevoiceofreason4104 good point, longer handlebars would make the mechanism as it stands weaker, but what about a reinforced mechanism through added support like a latch ? I think one of these companies should explore that possibility.

    Thanks for another very thorough review, Paul. I had a GT Sport for a few weeks before returning it and have a few questions I hope you can answer:
    - Did you do your testing using the new controller?
    - The claimed range for the GT Sport is 31 miles and you got around 14 miles in your test. Did you do your range test at full speed (28-30 MPH)? If not, can you test it that way so commuters can get a realistic idea what their range might be? (I was getting only around 9 miles range before the scooter became too slow to ride.)
    - Were you able to maintain top speed/maximum acceleration until near the end of the battery life, or did acceleration drop off significantly at 40% battery life? Many of us who preordered saw a huge hit in acceleration after 40% battery, but I have read that the new controller has fixed this issue.
    In your recent test of the NIU KQi3 Pro you said that the range test had been done at full throttle the whole time - except for stopping for red lights + stop signs - and that it maintained 90% of full speed up until the last 2 miles of the range test and then slowed significantly. Including that type of info in your reviews is very helpful for those of us using these scooters to commute at essentially flat out speeds, so we can tell what the true range is and whether the real world speed remains useable throughout most of the scooter's battery life. I realize it's a ****ton of work doing all of this testing, trying to maintain consistency, compiling data, doing script and shooting the videos, but you and a couple other good reviewers are the only reliable sources for this type of detailed info.

    • @ESG-ElectricScooterGuide
      @ESG-ElectricScooterGuide  Před rokem +1

      Thanks so much! Including “how the range test ended is something we’ve only recently added” and left it out of this video. We covered it a bit in the Mosquito video, which has nearly the same controller.
      The GT sport we tested is the very latest version and while I wasn’t trying to do top speed, I didn’t feel any noticeable loss of speed until the last two miles.
      I was hitting top speeds in the low 20’s throughout most of the range test, but also climbing a lot of hills.
      On the 15 mph scooters we tend to run them flat out the whole time, because who wants to go slower than that. On the big 50mph scooters, we ride them at whatever speed feels reasonable on 25 to 35 mph speed limit roads.
      For the GT Sport and Mosquito, we had to guess a bit, about how people would really ride them. To us, they feel the most comfortable to ride at 18 to 22 mph with occasional bursts to 25 - 30, so that’s how we ranged tested them.
      I feel like the scooter doesn’t operate very efficiently at super high speed, and am not surprised at sun 10 miles of range at near the top speed.
      This is one of very few scooters out there where I feel like the range is going to vary hugely depending on how it’s ridden. So I wish we could list 2 or three range test numbers for it. -Paul

      @@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide Thanks for the clear explanation, Paul. It makes sense doing the real world range tests at the speeds you think people would typically ride a given scooter at. Unfortunately, there are almost too many variables involved when predicting real world range. Rider weight, terrain, speed, number of motors, ambient temperature, etc. conspire to make manufacturer range estimates look silly. Until we have a standard for manufacturers, consumers will keep having to assume real world range is only 50-60% of what the manufacturers claim. Given the relatively small size of the GT Sport's battery pack it may be asking too much to expect good range from a prolonged high speed run, but the real world testing makes me think that the 31 mile range being claimed in marketing was unusually optimistic.
      You've become the reviewer that I trust the most on scooters and the attention to detail that you guys have in your videos is impressive. (I don't think people realize how much work it takes to put together a proper review.) Your industry experience also shows through in your reviews.
      I ended up ordering the NIU KQi3 Pro on Amazon Prime Day based mainly on the review you did on it a few weeks ago. I received the scooter on Friday and everything you said about it is 100% correct. I was blown away by the quality of the scooter given its price. NIU reminds me of how Lexus started out: building cars that had the features of a Mercedes, but with much better quality and at a *much* better price. Perfect way to disrupt the market. The KQi3 is like a gateway drug and my experience with it this week has completely changed my expectations in terms of value that a scooter should offer. It will be interesting to see if other companies are able to respond to the gauntlet that NIU has thrown down. Their Amazon sales must be through the roof.

    Just picked up the Fluid Mosquito, and its VERY fast carrying my 135-ish pounds. I love it, but the narrow solid tires and narrow handlebars make the highest speeds a bit unnerving, at least in the urban area I'm riding in. This being almost the same build and exceeding the Mosquito speed sounds spooky lol. The regen brakes are also super grabby, but maybe that will fade over time. I’m always so happy when someone brings this up, because I wonder if I’m the only one who notices the difference
      That said, I don’t notice it that most of the time. The main time I notice is when I wheelie off of a curb and the front end feels heavy and dead.
      The other time I’m aware of it is when riding in the rain, and front drive is using up some of the traction when cornering.
      It doesn’t bother me so much on the ultra-compacts because I ride them more for transportation than for goofing around.
      These scooters are definitely more utility focused than recreational. But you can still have some fun hopping up curbs because they’re so light.

    I just got my GT Sport last week to use along my 2019 Booster GT. The higher speed is definitely nice as I hit 28 MPH GPS verified and I'm 215lbs. I know I am in the minority here, but I wish it didn't have a drum brake like my 2019 version. I never use it and with the e brake and foot brake I don't need it there. Overall, the scooter is very nice and does feel like a slight upgrade due to the higher speed, but I can already tell the max range will be 3-5 miles less due to the higher speed. I've had so many scooters over the years I lose count, but I always stick with the Etwow due to its portability as it allows me to run to the store and easily bring it inside which I definitely did not want to do with my Dualtron Thunder or even the Ninebot Max I had.

    Why so much in UK is £695 is about $845 US Dollars. I got mine for £595 by preordering, (lucky me), but your price should be less than $1099

    Sadly, though the scooters are great. The Uscooter staff were very rude to me. Also their prices are way Too High. After weeks of delay I did find a better place to find parts needed after a 1000 miles of riding.

      I purchased my GT Sport through e-TWOW on amazon. The guy who handles customer support there is very helpful. I broke the handlebar in an accident. At no cost to me, he sent me the part I needed, plus an instructional video on how to replace the part, and he patiently guided me through the repair.

    I have owned my GT Sport for less than a year. It is a lemon. Last October, the manufacturer had to send me replacement parts. Now, it has malfunctioned again. Which means that I have had two instances of downtime in well under a year for this scooter that costs over $1000.

      Having fun around where you live and running errands as you can actual bring this scooter inside any store with you. That's what I use mine for.

      With 13.8 miles of real world range it’s definitely a city scooter.
      Make sure you’re not comparing it to the specified range of other scooters. Most scooters really cover about 60% of the specified “max” range.
      On flat, smooth ground at 15 mph, it will go further for sure, but we ride them the way they’ll be ridden in real life. -Paul

      @@spootnik00 if we didn’t show the speedo it’s unintentional. Speedometers usually read a little high, so we tend to ignore speedometer readings in favor of data from our Pro-grade data logger (Vbox Sport). -Paul
