TRIPREPORT | British Airways (BUSINESS CLASS) | London Heathrow - Philadelphia | Boeing 747-400

- There are few airplanes with more Business Class seats than British Airways high-premium 747. They fit 86 Club World seats on this aircraft. And they can fill those seats! But is it because of BA's good product? Or just because passengers don't have any other option?

2021 UPDATE: The Boeing 747 is no longer part of British Airways' fleet. The Business Class seats seen in this video are still in use on some of their Boeing 777s, Boeing 787s and Airbus A380s. However, BA has introduced a new type of seat which is being rolled out across the long-haul fleet at the moment and can already be found on newly-delivered aircraft such as their A350-1000s. To see what they are like, please refer to fellow air travel blogger DENNIS BUNNIK's video here: czcams.com/video/wvBrtXSueOI/video.html
British Airways is one of the few airlines which won't give up the 747s (That's a good thing), but it doesn't have its classic livery anymore with the corner of the British flag on the tail.
Lufthansa still has 747s also, but they still have their old livery.
American airlines (as we saw a number of when arriving in Philly) has new livery, and I like their present livery one better than their old one. But British Airways, I like the old one better, sorry.
BA has a nice first class now though, as seen in this video
Zzz&":&"
aw i really liked theyre 747s
My Favorite Airline B747 400
BA should keep the 747-
Here is what i love about flying. I love to do that so much. I don't know why i feel so happy when i do these things. Going to the airport, getting in the luggage line, passport control, entering the lounge if i can, going to the gate, sitting down to my seat, and take off. During these times i feel like i am in different world
This was the flight I took when I travelled to the States for the first time back in 2013, although that was on a 777-200. Manchester-Heathrow-Philadelphia. Great memories!
13:10 I get it. Forks are hard to use 😂
Lool
13:05 fighting with the sea trout haha
The queen of the skies where she is on her best ❤️ nice report David and what a great view of those powerful blue beasts
Jesus what A smooth landing. I couldn’t tell where they touchdowned
Yeah, British pilots are very good! In 2018 I flew on a BA 747 from LHR to Phoenix and I couldn't tell that we landed!
It’s a british 747 what would you expect 🤣
I thought the same. Mega smooth.
Yeah, especially in Philadelphia
stop taking God's name in vain
17:37 you know their British when everyone is just saying “sorry!”
Isn't that Canadian lmao
@@p1xlb522 Yeah its Canadian
11:05 the reading light does work but there’s a slider you use next to the light. For anyone else flying business class with BA :)
The beautiful Queen of the Skies
Benjamin Téry what’s the king? A380?
Hugo hudson You are right the king is the A380 😂
747 is queen Of the skies A380 is the king of the skies
Correct
These things are gone now
Awesome video man! Congratulations on 400K
Drinking game: take a shot every time there is a smiley emoticon. Great vid!
I love your trip reports I couldn’t click quick enough when I had my notification today! I love our Airline, I think they have hugely upped their game of late, I am just hoping after this crisis they still have some Jumbo’s in their fleet. Stay safe and looking forward to us all returning to the skies soon.
The sound of the engines! Lovely
We're definitely going to miss these engines
I know right :(
Congrats on 400K! Deserve it! :)
5:58 Backwards takeoff. Looks uncomfortable. I’d rather be in a forward-facing seat
Jasmine Johnston I hear from most people that it just feels like a regular rear facing train seat. Not to mention that rear facing seats are safer in a crash.
I actually wouldn’t mind trying it out one day
Nice video! I hope to be able to fly on British airways one day. Congratulations on 400k subscribers!
When i see David in business it make me happy
+1 if you agree :D
When I see anyone from simply aviation flying in any class I’m happy :)
What's your ancestry?
I absolutely love the BA B744's, also the safety instruction video is the best!
b744s new plane?
Another great video from simply aviations!!!
Outstanding wing view!
Really enjoyed the video.
I had an opportunity to try this business class configuration 20 years ago and must say I really liked it. It’s especially good for long haul flight if you have to get up for a stretch or to the washroom without disturbing your neighbour.
Thanks for the heads up regarding the lounge in terminal 5B,I had no idea it was there.
Love the shot high above Portland, ME! I'm about 2 hours north of there in Bangor
Woah.. That engine view!! Best!!
Congratulations on 400K! Great report as always. Flying backwards looks interesting :D
Great video David !
BTW, loved the shout out to Portland, Maine !!
6:02 That sound 😍
Sadly we miss that epic sound of the RB211s :(
A G yes =c
I wish these beautiful Queens are still alive.
Their retire is scheduled for 2023
Yeah me too
ok
@@riccardosorace5184 They are gone now sadly.
JaweaiAqii
That was a Powerful take off!!!!!!!!!
i cant travel now in these times but instead i watch these vids , thank youuuu
T5 at LHR is good. Thanks for that tip regarding the more quiet lounges. That takeoff was simply awesome!
Excellent trip report. It's always cool to fly on a 744.
Loved the Air Canada building right after you took off. Other wise. stay safe out there! Glad you're at home safe and still cutting old video's
Holy cow what a smooth landing!!!
Lovely trip! However, I’m going stir crazy here in my house!
Who’s here after British airways retired the 747 fleet
Jesus Christ They replaced their 747s with 777s, 787s, and A350s
Me
@@ag6371 ye :'(
Congrats Guyss!! 400k!!!!
Simply Aviation, congrats on 400K subscribers!
U were cruising over my city ( Im from Portland Maine ) nice revivew btw :)
Hi David, not sure if you have any insight on this but here goes nothing. Whenever I sit on a rear facing seat, i.e. in a train or a car, I somewhat get motion sickness because I'm not facing the direction of travel. Do you think it could be the same feeling on a plane as well? As I want to try out rear facing seats on a plane one day.
It's hard to say...flying is certainly different than riding a train, but except for take off I don't think you'll even notice that you are facing the other way. I don't think it would be a problem for you, but I am not sure if I am the right person to tell you that because I also don't find facing the wrong way when riding on a train...
@@simply_aviation Thank you for the reply! I hope to be flying soon once the pandemic dies down.
Just what I need. Some good trip report on the Queen! Thanks for sharing! Thumbs up
Simply aviation = Simply the best
Flew on this route in November. Booked premium economy and got a free upgrade to business class when we arrived at the check in desk. I felt like royalty 😂
Dude this flight is amazing 🤩! But you know what’s funny 😆 ? It’s the name of Philadelphia it’s like a Swedish sauce lol
Nice Rimowa! Great video
The shoulder height reading light is switched on by using the sliding button next to it, the button on the remote controls the light in the overhead compartment.
Congratulations to 400k subscribers!
Awesome window view. Great video.
BA was going to change this flight BA67 to the A350 on March 29th but due to Covid they’ve been partially operating the service with a mix of 772,788 and 789s. I was going to fly BA67 in Club Suite in August. I’ve got my fingers crossed Covid will calm down by then. Great video as always guys :))
Gread video - well edited - shows the best bits and concisely too.
i love the vid just like i love every vid of you
Happy 400k subscribers @simply aviation
It is a little bit sad that due to the COVID-19 all BA 747's are retired so fast. I have a good rememberance on them! Thank you so much to pleasure me with this report!
Greetings from the Netherlands by Arie Bert Versteeg ;-)
Is it just me or is the 747's business class similar to the 777-200's business class?
Btw: 13:07 Poor David struggling to get a bite of that fish
WrongNumberZ yes but the 777 fleet is getting the same club suites as the A350. Most of the Gatwick fleet already have it and they’re working on the Heathrow fleet. Or at least they were but not sure if still are due to current events. The 787-10 will have the new seats too
Of course they look similar - they’re the same product
I wonder how does it feel to have backward facing seat especially during take off and landing, especially when we're not a member of FA, humph...??? If I could choose, I rather have forward facing seat, just like the one in 1st class or economy class...
For my opinion I like British airways in-flight meals and service
@10.57 when you said the light doesn’t work - it probably does you use the slider next to it to adjust the light. The button on the IFE is just there I think because they retrofitted these old seats with new IFE
It was a really iconic plane of British airways.....I get really emotional when I think of it because British airways had already retired their 747s.
I feel you
You are my favorite CZcamsr 😄
Great video keep it up 👍
I really give ur channel 10 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️And this is because of the good quality of filming the video and the trip report videos are organized and clearly shows every thing just like I am really traveling , i really watched nearly all of your videos and prefer them upon all. I would like to thank you extremely much for starting this channel
2:42 Wow nice view with that queen i wish i could see that view in real life, because none of airlines in my country have boeing 747 :(
I liked the trip reports and long haul flights
My uncle lives around Heathrow airport. I've only ever been to his house once or twice, but I saw many planes coming in to land in 2 hours. I couldn't see out of the window his house is facing the other way lol but I could see in the garden so I just sat and admired the 747s taking off and landing and A380s. I saw some A330s and I saw the BA 777s as well
Wow.. When she took off she rocketed up into the sky.
congratz on 400k subs
I am always curious as to why the engine manufacturers put the swirl on the turbines of their engines. The only reason I can gather is so the pilot can see that they are turning.
ackpaintdude1 Birds think the swirl of the engine is the eye of a predator so instinctively avoid it
ackpaintdude1 captain joe has a video on that. It’s mainly that but also ground crew and I think can also scare away birds or something
Great video! What do you use to edit them? Thanks
You have such a great channel
Greetings from Belgium
i'm also from belgium
I'm also from Belgium :D
This is as modern as a 747-400 can get. Kudos to BA!
Wow you got a great view!
Very neatly filmed and edited
The seat does go fully flat but you said it didn’t?
It’s almost fully flat, but isn’t actually
CS7C3DLazyGuy222, I have experienced this seat & can assure it is fully flat!
@@josephmiddleton1 Huh, his seat must've been broken then. Wouldn't surprise me
CS7C3DLazyGuy222, Yeah - a very good point as them seats are very old. There’s more chance of a better experience on the 380/787/LGW 777
Love the BA B747. Truly Queen of the Skies.❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️💐
What a delight to watch those trip reports 😎
Btw...which airport in EU is the most crowded...and which one in the world? Thanks
PHL's BA/American terminals are quite smart, but the gates are VERY far apart. I think they share a runway with PIT.
11:01 there is a slider immediately next to the reading lamp. You can dim the lamp and turn it on/off with that. It might have been slid all the way to 'off' when you pushed the button on the remote making it look as if it were broken :)
7:25 this scene in the present outros along with Far Away hits different
The Boeing 747 was an amazing airplane. Shame they’ve been retired and are all being scrapped. I watched this show called Inside Mighty Machines and they were dismantling one of those flying beasts. They salvaged parts that could still function and eventually put them in other planes, including the engines. Then the rest of the plane was cut apart and sold for scrap
Gr8 video m8!
Yay a 747 tripreport again!
I have a round world in business booked starting at the end of July. One flight is from New York to London on a BA 747. I hope things turn around, however it is looking highly unlikely.
It certainly is, but fingers crossed.
At the start you were in an Enviro 200 MMC I think. Sitting on 13k? My favourite number!!!
Presentation simply Awesome
6:45 music to my ears
my fav fav fav 747 nice view clearly....
Lovely Rolls-Royce engines roar.
When I see first class it's makes me want to fly from Cape Town to London
Am going to miss those beautiful 747's
Don’t you are falling from your seat when you face the back at take off?
Belt
Hope we don't see the end of the BA 747s just yet hopefully see theme back in the skies where they belong.
Their retire is scheduled for 2023. So, hopefully we’ll have some more years to fly/spot the Queen of the Sky 🇬🇧👑
@@riccardosorace5184 Really hope so. I flew back from Miami last September on BA 747 registration G-CIVE. Probably was the last ever 747 I went on but hope I'm wrong
Raj Nirvan I never had the chance to fly it. I hope I’ll fly the Queen once in a lifetime
i would like to fly in one! Sadly i couldn't
Hello! I’m from 3 months later, and guess what? BA retired their 747s...
What editing software do you use?
Greetings from the Philippines!
0:26 Ragriz Flight and Spotting just came here for the night to see the Shard and Big Ben
I love this channel
