TRIP REPORT | British Airways - 747 400 - New York (JFK) to London (LHR) | Economy

On August 9, I flew British Airways from New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport to London Heathrow Airport. This was the first leg on my European trip that included flights on Brussels Airlines, Croatia Airlines, Lufthansa, SAS, and Air Greenland! I can't wait to upload those videos soon...
Anyways, British Airways economy product is hit-or-miss in my opinion. When I tried their premium economy product in April, it had some upsides and downsides.

I agree. Have flown this route several times over the past few years and I love the BA 747s. There is just something majestic about them; the B777 just isn’t the same.

I’m going on a flight from London to New York 747 British Airways Economy and I have never been on British so I immediately went to you and surprisingly you made a video about it yesterday.
Some great plane spotting at the start !! Thanks for the take off vision and sound...loved it !! Pretty good flight with BA by the look of it and some reasonable leg room at the back of the bus!! Well done as always and I look forward to your next adventure !!

Your footage of the London Bridge and Thames River, and the castle are well put together. The music is a nice touch as well. I was in London for about 5 days in May 2019 and loved it. Amazing views, and different than America. I also flew with British Airways, and thought they did a nice job. I'd love to go back to Europe one day, and your videos give me a glimpse of traveling, which is nice. Keep up the good work 👍

I have not flown on British Airways, but had been on 747-400s with Cathay Pacific, Singapore Airlines, China Airlines, Malaysia Air, and China Easters. All were great in-flight experiences.

Great Job! wow you have really gotten professional and kudos for keeping it Aviation oriented. I feel like most of the other big aviation bloggers have sold out, they all speed up the takoff and barely show any footage that aviation fans love..

I flew that airline and plane to Amsterdam Schipol last year. Terminal 7 isn't especially comfortable, but I felt it exuded a quirky charm. Both outbound and return flight segments were enjoyable, even in main cabin - staff were incredibly kind and helpful.

Most deffo! That sound (of the APU) that you hear when you're on the airbridge near the door is such an exciting thing! it makes my tummy butterflies jump...if that makes any sense?! Nothing like it, and only really works with a 747 don't you think?
There's certain emergency motor operation in the jet engine that allows to power the 747, otherwise there will not have power.
Looking very nice on the 747-400. Fly safe always...

I flew to Florida from Gatwick in the summer on a Virgin 747 (economy), frankly, it looked pretty much identical to BA. You get a seat, you get some food, you get some entertainment on a small screen in front of you, it takes hours.

Brilliant 9.5 hrs.
Cool video. I have done the SFO-LHR route several times on BA, and to your point, it was very hit-or-miss. When they were still flying the 747-400's, it was mostly a miss in Economy. However, since the A380's came online for that route, it was a definite hit for me--I paid a little more and always got one of the aisle and window seat pairs in the last couple of rows on the upper deck.

Love this video 😁 I’m looking into London to NYC for March 2021 & taking my parents & brother. I’ve never been & my parents have never been and I want them to experience it at least once in a lifetime. It’s gonna be expensive (may need a little loan) lol but it’ll be worth it 🙂🙏🏼

Seriously, some great video of leaving New York at sunset! Wonderful! You actually made JFK look quite appealing! Nice shot of the Virgin B744 on its way to MAN in the fading twilight! I happen to be a big fan of the BA 747s and I have generally had good service on my flights to/from London. I may only have a few more chances to fly them, but I also want to try VS’s new A350s.

Great report as always Quintin. Quick suggestion. Music is good at times, but to be perfectly honest I much prefer when music is kept to an absolute bare minimum in trip reports, especially considering it played through nearly all of the taxi, climb, descent, and even meal service. A lot of us watch these videos to not only see how the trip was but also to feel like we're there, so music playing through most of the video kind of takes away from that. Just my two cents!
