Mega Man Revolution Remix - Fortress Tracks [Mike Crain's N163 OST]

- These are the music tracks for the fortress stages and endgame content we do not consider spoilers by their very existence. You will also see out of context shots of these stages.
Music in this video done by Mike Crain. In-game it is called "Remastered", was created in Famitracker using the Sunsoft 5B and Namco n163 chips; and it is, to quote Mike:
"A total remake from the ground up of my original OST I made back
in 2011, all the while trying to respect the original
compositions as much as possible."
Plus new tracks for the expanded content.
Since its a remastering of the original OST, it sounds pretty different to a Capcom OST.
There is also a 2A03 version of the soundtrack which can be considered "closer to a Mega Man NES OST", and is a collaboration between multiple musicians, and is a combination of remixes from the original game and new tracks made at the musician's discretion.
That will be uploaded at a later date. There are still a few gaps in the OST that need filling first.
I personally don't have a favourite. I think Mike's OST sets the mood better in spots, but the 2A03 has a fair selection of great takes on the music and some of the original stuff is superb.
Kind of like Sonic CD for me, I might just swap between these two on alternative playthroughs.
There is also a SNES style version of the OST that follows the N163 pretty closely. It's pretty good, (the particularly atmospheric tracks really shine here) but I still prefer the N163 one over that version overall.

Why are some of the Wily tracks different? First: This OST was intended by Mike to be the original game's OST brought up to his new standards using Famitracker.
There is a separate collaboration soundtrack that is a mixture of remixes of the original game and new tracks. I would say that OST is much closer to the usual Mega Man style.
Mike made either remixes of the original songs, or new songs in his style, (except Sondebar 4 which is a cover of a track from the 2a03 version of the OST, since that is one of the new stages I made in the Fusion version and I wanted to keep the same music.)
Some tracks got moved around as the Fortress' Final stage order got set recently, and some tracks that were previously revealed will also change in the 2a03 version because game development is a fluid beast and things change, especially when the game moves hands again, and that's all I will say on the matter.
For the record, I like both OSTs, I think Mike's matches the mood better, but the 2a03 has some excellent remixes and some of the new tracks are superb.

The Wily Fortress intro sounds more alien than the Sondebar Base intro,and it's kinda ironic knowing who and what the true villain is.
In hindsight that's probably because I used the triangle channel for a melody when triangle wave resembles a theremin a lot which was often used in alien B movies.

I really like the Wily Castle, Robot Museum, Duo, and the City Chase themes. They can be considered my favorites, since of how they sound like in this remix, and I can just listen to them all day. Keep up the great work, ACESpark!
So glad that this style of tracks is being included in the game.
I'm impressed: I don't think a single track in this video is bad or even mediocre. (Exception to the latter being the Sondebar intro, IMO it just doesn't sound quite right compared to the original).
Serious props to Mike for improving so much and making the tracks I already thought were good (i.e. Determined Glance) even better and then making new tracks that are also great (i.e. On The Run)!
Also, I wonder what the Fake Man Chase from MM8BDM would be like with On The Run instead of its normal music.
I like how Sondebar Base 1 and 3 are the most upbeat of these.
Sondebar 1 because you're storming the base and so it's energetic like Wily 1 to give a mood of, "let's do this!"

Sondebar Stage 4 has become a favorite to mine since it feels like you are prepared for the final battle against The mad doctor himself!

Honestly, i like the remixes of Welcome to Sondebar Base, Determined Glare, Tragic Construction and The Final Showdown. While i do like the original ones, i think the remixes are neat as well.

I actually kinda like this style more than the original for the fortress levels and the robot museum that’s being added.
That might be because I had a far better working environment to retry the songs where they could actually reach their potential. Lol

Hey, I keep coming back to this video (Mostly because these songs got stuck in my head...) but the middle of the skull on Wily's fortress looks off to me. I dunno if anyone else agrees but to me, it looks like the skull has some sort of mouthpiece. Unless, this was the intention in which case disregard my comment ^^'

The Remix OST’s Wily 2 song (Forward Advance) was composed before Castle of Strange was. Same with the new version of Waiting For Death, being composed after the Remix OST’s Wily 4 track (Escalating Scheme).
You could technically set up the mod soundtrack to play it for Wily 2 if you had it, though I think Forward Advance is cool too.
You just can't decide which stage should have Outer Appearances, don't you?
Outer Appearances was always going to be the penultimate Wily level. Its just the levels that swapped.

Gonna be honest, I don't like the style of this soundtrack. Glad to hear that there will be an option for different styled.
Well then the original version of the soundtrack is also an option with OPL3 DOS instruments that you'll love more.

The current version up for download is just the last version of OG and not Remix yet.

Hopefully this new version of Dr. Remir's machine isn't an unfair pile of shit like the original.
It's not only a lot better and far more interesting in mechanics, but it has had an astronomical visual overhaul.
