Exactly it’s this crazy audience that romanticizes these characters. If you look at sultan durrani from Deewangi, the same thing happened. The man abducts and abused nagin and then our audience was feeling bad for him when nagin kills him in the last episode. That’s how you handle a toxic and possessive male character and show the demise of his actions. There’s no room for sympathy for men like shamsher and I hope that’s how this drama unveils as well. It’s bad, but it’s largely the audiences fault for going haywire over his “charisma”. Look at him as he is- which is a horrible man with bad intentions and the drama makes sense. People like shamsher do exist but I just hope they show his downfall and how mehak overcomes these hurdles

Habs is such a beautiful piece of fiction, a slow burn romance elevated with en epic performance by Feroze Khan. I agree with your review, absolutely, we connect with the depth of Basit's turmoil and life long trauma, also his father did not help him out from this grief. This show is raising some valid questions about childhood trauma, mental health and healing. Loving it a lot! Feroze's versatility from Mustajab to Basit amazes me.

Dobara: We were wrongly blaming Mahir, when in fact, lighting was the culprit. Lighting theek nahi thi, Mehru was using ‘Shaan’ bulbs, which made Mehru look old and wrinkled to Mahir. When Shaan bulbs were changed with ARY bulbs, her face became bright and clear and wrinkle free, making Mahir fall in love with her again. As IK said, “ lighting hi sub kuch hae”. 😝😂
On a serious note, if the ending had to be good and happy, why was Mahir shown falling from grace with such distasteful dialogues. Mahir was put on a pedestal first , then made to fall into the gutter, then came out clean. Mehru was portrayed an angel, did Mahir become guilty conscious or was it real love this time, can’t predict with someone like Mahir. 😊

Absolutely agree with Amna's review of Dobara. I would like to say again it was such a novel sensitive subject that was not dealt with the sensitivity and sensibility it deserved. And honestly I have a feeling that the extended number of episodes and unnecessary sensationalism killed the fun. A humble request to the channel, please if u pick such a unique subject don't drag the drama, don't add unnecessary and unimportant subplots. This drama has been airing for 7 months!!!!
Secondly the story had loopholes, narrative was jumpy, characters had such sudden change of hearts, it didn't feel natural.
Still, a good subject, hope to see better versions in future.

I can't digest this sudden change of heart......I loved Dobara until this Narmeen angle was introduced....and the disgusting way he discussed Mehru's so-called flaws with Narmeen was too much for me....also the ending was random in the sense that there was no proper closure between Mahir and Narmeen. 2 episodes tak we were subjected to Mahir's teenage-lover-boy antics....how weak was his love that just seeing his ex-flame and a shallow conversation with his idiotic mother made him consider cheating on his wife......I am sorry my opinion would sound really harsh but the ending was not convincing at all.....there was scarcity in the context that made Mahir go back to Mehru. Also Mehru ko itna sati savitri kyun dikhaya that she's 'gladly' allowing that freak to munh-marofy wherever he wants and then on top of that, accepting him back generously in her life......the ending would have been better if she would have accepted him but not wholeheartedly and would have told him quite clearly that it would take her time to forgive him and he would have to wait until she does so and during that if he gets tired of waiting, he always had the option to leave.....a toughened up Mehru and a needy and vulnerable Mahir would have compensated somehow for the nonsense of the previous two episodes....and ten years later, Mehru could have been shown softening up a little to Mahir and the ending could have ended with a monologue of Mahir that his one mistake cost him a lot but he's still trying and would keep trying even if it takes a lifetime because his beloved wife was worth it.

Dobara had the worst ending I’ve ever seen for any drama like ever. What a fantastic way to ruin a great message and simultaneously yet subtly enable men like Mahir. Presented as a hero, this character has really proven to be worse than many typical toxic male characters in my opinion. At least those characters are out right villains but mahir was clearly the hero of Dobara. The way he belittled his wife in front of narmeen, out right cheated on her by expressing his love for another woman and then claimed that he loves her and couldn’t betray her is just a terribly lame excuse that we see time and time again. Just like Aswad in HKKST, and countless other examples, he is forgiven by his wife because “he didn’t know better”. These are grown adult men who are shown to be so unbelievably stupid that it’s mind boggling to me even as a man myself. Really disappointed because this drama really tells men that it’s ok to do what mahir did and it tells women to deal with it.

@@bushranaveed1737 exactly! The most dangerous characters are the ones that go unnoticed, where the toxicity is subtly shown. Even Ashar in Humsafar doesn’t believe Khirad for 4 years based off of one event. Didn’t he think why his wife would hand her dupatta to another man? Logically speaking, why does him holding the dupatta signify that she had an affair? He doesn’t for one second think that maybe she was harassed by Khizer rather believes his mom because “he didn’t know”. Then what happens? She obviously forgives him because “poor Ashar”. I just can’t ever see problems like this resolving in real life without a divorce. A toxic villain like Shamsher from KTK, or mir hadi from Khaani is much better than a toxic hero from many of these dramas because at least the story doesn’t roll out in their favour. We know that it’s going to end badly because they’re villains instead of heroes. Of course I’d rather do without toxic characters at all but the way most men are shown to be unbelievably stupid is insane to me because nobody bats an eye

Started watching dobara because the chemistry between Bilal and Hadiqa looked promising in the promo, and finished it only because of Bilal's performance. What a powerhouse of acting! Hadiqa, with all due respect, wo baat nahi thi jo Raqeeb Se mein thi. Zoya Nasir made me empathize with Narmeen, like I kinda felt sorry for her in the end.
The part where Mahir and Narmeen decided not to go for Nikaah, reminded me of Gauhar and Kashif (Ishq Zahe Naseeb) eloping for their Nikaah and then coming back, and thinking they left the other one standing at the altar.
About the end, I wanted the park scene to be the opposite, Mehru sitting alone in the park aftet her jog, and Mahir coming from behind her and saying, something like: main aap ko chor kar nahi jaa saka, aap ki mohabbat mujhe waapis khench laayi. And then Mahir, Mehru and her kids and families coming together for dinner in the end. Aur agar ek bacha adopt kar lete to aur bhi maza aata.

Kaisi Teri Khudgarzi: finding it quite comical, the doom-majoom, the lyrics of the OST, the storyline, how Aamna described the characters was perfect, they are not to be admired or fantacised, will carry on watching, hoping there is a moral to the story which we have not seen told on our screens before, it is following similar pattern of other storylines and easy to skip parts and watch within 5 mins
Dobara: i don't think I will miss the drama on my screen, but I will miss Hadiqa and Bilal
Habs: I look forward to this drama, the production, filming, actors, the script, i.e. in conversations the right amount is said, there does not seem to be too much that is confusing, annoying, boring, hopefully this continues, having watched 6 episodes already I hope their production and filming only gets better because it is adding to the calmness of the experience of watching the drama
Mere Humsafar: I know you did not touch on it this episode, but starting the series of episodes that will lead to the end of the drama, what points of the storyline do you want closed properly, which questions, which characters need to have their epiphany moments starting from next weeks episode and beyond.

Chauraha is going strong. It is fast paced with impressive performances, highlighting crime using social media and perils of friendships on it. Still, I have apprehensions. Our dramas which start with a crime are turned into emotional sagas later on. Justification is given for the crime, creating sympathy for the criminal, specially if the character is played by top actors. Sometimes a romantic angle is given or karma is shown which means leaving the punishment to Allah. Here too, the story can go the wrong way. Since the families know each other, forced marriage can be shown, karma can be shown through his sister, his gang is not sincere with him. Instead, of focusing on crime and it’s punishment per law, finding excuses for redemption, or karma, not only kills the purpose, but encourages crime. Hope it’s not done this time.

About Dobara - I think this is what Mehru is since staring episode ,she was always kind ,humble and forgiven lady .Dobara was not about growing independent Mehru it was about how nice and forgiven she is since starting her character was same till the end and Just becaz she forgive Mahir it does not mean she was not strong or dependent lady , Indeed Forgiven is part of Love only.About Mahir Yes he did cheating but every marriage deserve second chance . I'm glad they showed his change of mind just before he was going to marry Narmin, not because Narmin left him (After he became poor mahir again) . I wish they show more clarity with dialogues about Mahir's confession - Why he married Mehru ( for security and money ) when did he start loving/liking her / why he cheated Mehru in last two episodes why he used such a cheap dialoges why in the end he finally decided to go back to Mehru. I wish there should be more conversation about this particular point that exactly made him change his mind out of the blue ( becaz of Minal call and Mehru's acceptance , no clue) . Writers should never use those cheap dialogs in the last two episodes except the last two episodes. If we see Mahir's journey then yes absolutely he deserves a second chance . i Just wish we got to see more clarity about Mahir's character and recently we happily accepted toxic hero ending with heroine in the very last episode for eg Bobby in AMK , Aswad in HKKST, Danish taimoor and many more then why can't Mahir . Mahir was a flawed character but at least he was not toxic like others .Overall it was good to see a happy ending. I wish we got to see more Mahir-Mehru . N most crazy of all, she went to FSD all by herself, instead of a permission, she didnt bother to tell him. Is this the role of wives in our society? How would she behaved if that was hidayatullah? Would she forgot also if hidayat was in place of Mahir? She clearly shown Mahir she doesnt respect him as head of household. N let me not go into her dialouges. But since everyone is bashing Mahir, I want to point out the mistakes of Mehru too. She everytime when they are together, with her speech or action, showed him that she considered him a child n not a lover. Rather husband. She gave him salary, picked for him clothes etc like a mother. Didnt go out with him anywhere for fun n even when he asked to go with her FSD, she stopped him in a mother tone. Almost in every episode she said something here n there which shows age gap. She cried n bored Mahir with all future-kids talks like i cant give you a child. OMG im so old, tumhari age k larkay etc etc.... these things if done with any man would lessen all his love for his wife, and Mahir was still someone who married just for friendship, not for love. He told his frnd clearly, im marrying her coz of good friendship otherwise I still love narmeen.
Its a woman attitude which makes her husband attracted to her or away from her. The only saving grace was Mehru whom I was glad to see was back in her tracks ( something we had not seen in the past ten episodes ) The ten year later scene mein had they shown Mahir wearing glasses would have been more realistic . They tried to make Mehru look older but Mahir looked exactly the same if not younger !!

Susan Sarardon's " The white Palace" is also good. It deals with both class and age difference between a rich boy and a wild free spirited waitress and how it impacts their relationship and romance--a one night hookup turns into a deeper bond. Dobara lacked romance and that deeper bonding which ultimately connects a couple. Hasan is right, the romance was more motherly than passionate. Mahir's return felt more out of guilt than 'actual love ' and passion.

That doesn’t make anything acceptable though. In my opinion this is just one way these dramas are enabling men like mahir. Oh he was teary eyed and was sorry for his actions 🙄? What happened to his love when he was talking about her wrinkles and started to call her mehrunissa on purpose? People make mistakes in marriage and you will end up hurting each other’s feelings, but cheating - which mahir did - is not forgivable. I thought this was a progressive drama but at the end it’s the same old husband makes a big mistake (cheating) and then the wife forgives him because “poor husband”. In reality this would’ve easily ended the marriage but they just glorified his actions when mehru forgives him. Of course Bilals acting is always top notch and this was an award worthy performance. But that doesn’t mean we should forgive mahir. If a man cheats on you and then cries about it that doesn’t make it ok

Singers as actors: I completely agree how the experience with audience including international platforms gives them an edge, no doubt it does.
I believe there is another factor which makes them good actors. It is their voice and dialogue delivery. I personally believe that this plays a vital role in any actors performance. Having a voice which can reach the hearts of audience and the rhythm gives them a different sort of aura
In cinema if you look at actors, the ones who have made it to the top have good voice and strong dialogue delivery.

Mahir’s character lacked sincerity in the end. He was plainly cheating on Mehru - all it took was one glance at his old lover for him to slip. The ending was far from credible. I wanted to see Mehru kick him to the kerb as that’s what he deserved. She did so much for him and look how he treated her? It’s almost as though he was doing Mehru a favour by staying....and Mehru expressed no anger at her treatment. Who does that? This was an unrealistic and disappointing ending.

Unfortunately this drama has shown the same stereotypical concept of cheating a man and reversing back to his poor wife after a betrayal by his love. I mean what was the point of this drama? I completely agree with the review of Dobara, spot on…. But if I may say the way I saw the built up of relationship between Mahir and Mehru. He marries her for money, she marries him for his age. She does not trust him but she is shown to make a move towards him all the time, caressing ect. Like a mother is in our heads because of the age difference and thats part of the bigger picture because Mahir has a vacuum in his life created by lack of parental love. She then starts trusting him. Gradually he starts leaning towards her and is shown to accept her love and feels obliged to respond back and is shown to make primary moves towards her. Later he even reacts to her going out of town without telling him. Then comes into play a young girl whom he believes loves him and he for sure loves her. Thats his understanding ….. as of his age. He gets deeper into that, he is seeking his love and feels entitled to it and is ready to give up even the so important Mehru’s money. Mehru on the other hand acts maturely as of her age and handles it accordingly, she loves him no doubt but she may be thinks she has had her fair share and now its his turn. Now what happens, all decisions are made…. Ready to go….. and this is the first time that the realisation occurs with Mahir, he sees it happening for a fact, and realises the impact of leaving Mehru and feels he is unable do it, he cannot leave Mehru. He realises that without knowing he has developed the association and love for Mehru’s companionship and was choosing lust over love.
The way it was done was more like for a big screen and that of course caused a problem being a television drama audience were at a different pace.

The story idea was brilliant and new yet the writing was pathetic - how it was executed was rubbish, and so was the direction. Dobara: Maybe they changed the ending to fulfill the audience's wishes, but the ending didn't make sense to me. Mahir was a complex character who would do anything for his survival but he loved Narmeen badly. His only purpose was to marry Narmeen as shown in the first episodes and when he lost hope after her marriage he proposed to Mehru. When he saw Narmeen again he fell for her and wanted to marry her at any cost. Narmeen and her mother especially were shown to be opportunists as she demanded gold Kangan in the first episodes and then went after Mahir to seek a better life. but when she realized it might not happen she turned back. Mehru was shown to be a fairy character that does not exist in real life. Nobody could be such selfless and she should have taken better steps to seek further education and boost herself to independence after the death of Hadayat. But she herself ruined the life of Mahir by marrying a younger boy. The last scene showed it all when Mehru turned 55 and Mahir 35. Mahir does not have children and surely his sexual and intimate life would be miserable too if one looks at reality. Let's say Mehru lives 10-15 more years, she would be weak and elderly. Can you long for a person deprived of love and affection all his life to be stuck in a marriage with an elderly woman for so long?

Dobara: a kind of fairy tale ending, still very sweet, to a drama that was based on being realistic.
The last episode made me emotional because Dobara had become my favorite drama after its very first episode, but also because how everything ended. After the last few episodes, I really hated Mahir and all I wanted was for Mehru to end up independent and the title of drama would come into play as in Mehru learning from her second set of mistakes (wanting to depend on a man). But the way it ended was, even though not perfect, was great, with Mahir completely redeeming himself and living a "Mehrunized" life and staying because of love and not the money. Still, the sudden change that Mahir's character had in the car was not very believable, the park scene kind of was.
Overall, the drama was quite good and still better than those toxic dramas still running on TV and a good, not great, attempt to show an older woman-younger man love story. The story could've been better with Narmeen not coming into the picture at all and there not being stretched episodes that just made Mahir fall from grace in a bad way, but kudos for managing to redeem the story in the end. In total, Dobara definitely deserves an 7.5-8 out of 10 and people who have not watched it, you've missed out on one of the most compelling dramas of the year 2021-22. Watch it for the topic and the chemistry between Mahir-Mehru/ Bilal-Hadiqa.
    Dobara will definitely be missed!

After watching Dobara, I felt like we missed one episode before we saw the ending. The last few episodes built such a crucial crescendo and they just took a 360. And there's no doubt the makers just butchered the arc Mahir had all these episodes. Only redeeming part was that Mahir didn't come back to Mehru after he got rejected by Narmeen.

I only could find one flaw that Mahir didnt age well with time.he could get glasses and bit of beard just to show him in his late 30s.

Kidnappers, theifs, can have a positive side as well which can be related back to emotional traumas of their lives. This is actually the truth of society. It’s not at all like only completely positive or completely negative people exist in this society. There’s a mix.

Dobara: I can vouch for that in the thousands of dramas I have seen in my life, Dobara is the one which has put life into those characters for me, and I am always seeking a Mahir and Mehru around these days in my life too. I really wish I could see a Mehru and Mahir around myself too or if these were actually real characters. Hadiqa Kiani, what an impeccable and heartwarming performance by this woman. Nobody can imagine anyone else as Mehru but Hadiqa. She was such a stunning personality, so graceful and elegant. I fell in love with this woman and I am completely obsessed with HQ these days. I don't get what was the purpose of Mahir's attitude towards Mehru when Narmeen came into his life? Was he really driven towards her, because his expressions always seemed forced as though his mind was saying all of those loving expressions to Namreen but his heart wasn't quite aligned with it? And this attitude could have been reasonable while Mehru was in Faislabad, but once she had returned, did he still not recognize where his heart actually felt happy. Why was it only when he was going for Nikah that he realises her importance? How could he have felt repulsed from Mehru when she was with him back? It did not make sense. How come at one point he felt so repelled by her and at the other moment, he is saying that he always loved her. It was absurd. Mahir was absurd at times, honestly. Secondly, the last 3 episodes with Narmeen did not complement the ending of the plot, which ended too abruptly. If they were to show a happy ending then they should have shown us some deeper conversations between the two about many missed moments, gaps in communication, misunderstandings, apologies, regrets. Example:1) I want to know what Mahir was smirking on during the movie at the cinema they went to watch together after their marriage? What was he feeling at that time? 2) The first dinner out after marriage when Mahir tells Mehru that she is what he never had in his life and Mehru asks him but he fails to answer it. I think it was the best moment on the bench in the last episode to make this scene a lot more intense and romantic by bringing up that conversation and saying that," Mein uss din bata pa raha tha ke aap mere liye kya thein, par aaj mein jaan gaya hoon ke aap mere liye kya hain....Zindagi". 3)The day Mahri comes back home after the allegation scene with Sehr, we so wanted to see Mehru and Mahir reconciling their misunderstandings after all that Mehru had put him through. I saw an opportunity for a romantic apology scene between the 2 of them, just like how intense the scene between Affan and Sehr was when he had got to know about Sehr's plan and they were both weeping kneeling towards each other's shoulder. 4) The bedroom scene after the "decision to have a baby" conversation, when Mehru was quietly crying on the bed thinking about what her MIL had said, Mahir needed to console her more and discuss more about this issue and its different possibilities of having a child . They could have used these episodes on this rather than bringing Narmeen and the bipolar personality of Mahir back. 5) I wanted to know who was Mahir actually annoyed with and why was he angry at his sister's dholki when the girls were making fun of the couple. Was he humiliated because of Mehru? 6) All those toxic and abominable dialogues he said about Mehru to Narmeen. Was he serious about it? Was he genuinely imagining Mehru's wrinkles compared to Namreen's youthful face or was he suppressing some hidden feelings of inner warmth and affinity he had towards Mehru so much that when he looked at Narmeen that day on the beach, he was actually seeing Mehru in her face and was missing her? How could he so explicitly say with such a clear mind that Mehru's love was only fog and Narmeen was sunshine in his life? That was truly heartbreaking honestly! All of these questions raise so many possibilities in my mind and it would have been so good to watch this drama if it was dealt with in a more wholesome manner and given more attention to Mahir and Mehru's personal life . This drama has left a lasting impact on me and reminds me of this couple every time I hear any conversations about marriage. Mehru's love was pure( not motherly): it is only because we have been instilled with this notion that only a mother can love so unconditionally that it seems hard to imagine a spouse can love you so much too. Although it is rare but Mehru was generally a very magnanimous woman, who was just grateful for the short-lived yet happy moments in her life that she had always longed for. Hence she sacrificed her happiness(love) for Mahir's own happiness. Just reminds me of SRK's character from ADHM, when he says ," Mujhey Saba se muhabbat karney k liye Saba hi ki zarooorat nahin". Dobara will always remain the most special drama for me as I had stopped watching any other drama since the past 6 months for this one. Why in the world did we not see Mahir confessing to Mehru about what he had been going through in the past week with Narmeen? He should have been shown confessing to her about how he was so wrong to betray her all these days. Mehru had the right to know this from Mahir about his recent meetings with Narmeen.

N on that attitude scale, Mehru was zero for Mahir though she was in perfect attitude with hidayat, detached and recieving. Thats a man actually want. Everyone bashes mahir for his never-claimed-love but no one raise finger on Mehru's questionable motherly attitude instead of a wife's.

I think when you watch a drama somethings are left to your perspective and whether the audience views Shamsher in Kesi Teri Khudgarzi a hero or villain and his actions romantic or obsessive and toxic is an example of this. As a 16 year old I see Shamsher's behavior as it is, toxic. what they are showing is not love, it's toxic obsessiveness and it is pretty clear in the show so far. We live in a world where there is constant awareness about such stuff which has matured young girls of today, enough to distinguish between love and toxicity

    A) there should've been a little more aggression towards the captive girl by their kidnappers, like a few slaps , etc. to make more impact to the scene, and she should've been a little bruised on the face too for that matter.. it would have created a lot more impact.
    B) Hasan is right, they should not have shown this empathetic side of the villain.

Had Dobara ended in any other way the message of hope for Older women younger man may have got bashed. All relationships have challenges. So did this one. Mahir came from an extremely disturbed and distraught childhood. This was firmly established. The epiphany he had in the car is what gave him the momentary insight into the mature and highly commendable character of Mehru. Too much had happened and so many relationships were at stake with this Nikah that he was about to do. Love anything set it free, if it comes back to you it is yours and if it does not it never was. I validate this ending and think it has a very mature message to the audience. Both Amna and Hassan were going by the literal dialogues and were in this very rare instance unable to see a fourth option to the ending of this drama. Sometimes they need to broaden their horizon and get insightful of what kind of a message the drama is trying to send out. The psychology of human behavior is not the only bench mark here. It is the psyche and the millions who are watching this drama worldwide. And so congratulations to the very mature ending of hope and companionship.
