  • MARCH 1st - I rode away from the dealer on the Super Meteor, rekindling that old flame for cruisers from 2015, when I re-entered biking and bought the Triumph America. 2.5k miles later some emotive revelations arise in this video tribute.
    The wisdom philosophy of India, the parent country of the reborn Royal Enfield, runs through every feature of this machine and informs its heritage as a modern retro design.

    Just sold my ‘04 Harley Fatboy.Loved it, but moving and had too many vehicles. Now strongly considering the RE. Saw them at the Harley dealer. Looked WAY cool! I’m about 90% sold!!

    Thanks... I agree.
    I decided to get one after the first 2 minutes of test riding.
    I've rode my Super meteor for 5000 kms, mostly on deserted winding country roads in south west France.. This type of environment is where you will enjoy every second of the journey. Even rode up the Pyrénées, Tourmalet and other places... Waiting for the month of may to do it again.

    I had a test ride on one last week, and while i liked the bike i wasn't blown away like so many others.. but to be fair it was 3° with light drizzle and i only had an hour or so on it. I was going to wait and try a kawasaki vulcan 650 before i decided, but now after thinking about it i think I'm going to order a super meteor 😊

    If the sound of the Super Meteor reminds you of the Triumphs and BSAs of the sixtys you don't know how these engines sounded. They had an even firing order like BMW flat twins and you could hear it.
    The likes of the newer twins including the Triumphs of today imitate the sound of V-Twins like the Ducatis.

    Would not surprise me if RE bring out a bigger Engine in this ..650 its there biggest..watch this space me thinks.then there be loads of second hand ones ..just like the meteor 350 🤔

    • @unconditioned_ride
      @unconditioned_ride  Před 9 měsíci +2

      Yes agreed, RE should get a 900 or a 1200 out there, but will their main market being India, work against what would only then be export models?

    • @frederickwoods5943
      @frederickwoods5943 Před 9 měsíci +2

      fastestonearth1 it would be so easy for RE to produce a 750 with the current twin, all it takes is larger bore. Many riders have installed 83.5mm pistons including myself 8,000 miles ago; I got tired of waiting on them, no need for a total engine redesign to easily produce 59 hp ... just what the brand needs.

    • @ssdravidian
      @ssdravidian Před 9 měsíci +2

      I always said it and I'll say it again....if RE put out a 750 instead of a 650 on the Super Meteor variant right from the beginning...the scene would habe been very different.....other competing 800+ to 950cc offerings would have felt some sales related issues...considering the price point....

    • @frederickwoods5943
      @frederickwoods5943 Před 9 měsíci +1

      @@ssdravidian Exactly! It would have been the next logical move and as you said it would threaten bikes like the 900 Triumph by having similar or better performance for a lot less money. Look at the pressure the upgraded Himalayan 452 is putting on the Suzuki 400 for instance, the 411 wasn't a threat. If the upcoming Shotgun 650 weighs 535 (or more) pounds like the SM does, RE's recent bad history repeats itself.

      You have a point but for my riding this fits the bill and the weight you mention keeps it nicely planted. I've had bikes that were bigger (cc) and lighter. Anyway I suspect RE are carving their niche as well as they will always do, without aping other brands and hence why they're doing so well.....

    • @frederickwoods5943
      @frederickwoods5943 Před 9 měsíci +1

      @@unconditioned_ride this would have been an excellent time for Royal Enfield to debut a "750", I have 8,000 miles on 83.5mm pistons in my 2020 INT650/750, over 35,000 miles total. If they'd put a 743cc engine in the bike, even at 540 pounds it would have made more sense; they missed a huge opportunity. Maybe it will go the route of the Himalayan...

    • @unconditioned_ride
      @unconditioned_ride  Před 9 měsíci +2

      @@frederickwoods5943 I guess the home market and market share dominate its decisions, but I think the new Himalayan is great and there are going to be some real strides by RE to come.
