    First of all, I have never come across someone so unapologetically themselves. Wow 🤩 I came to your channel because of your collaboration with Gabriel Arrunda.
    Secondly, I really connect with your description of moonstone. I keep saying how I love my vacation clothes and don’t enjoy my work clothes. This is the first time I realized it’s because I have had some stress at work lately and vacation is my escape from that. I connect so much with how my environment makes me feel. Thanks for helping me to recognize this! Can’t wait to dive in more.

    I found you through Style by Ellie-Jean, and your system makes a lot of sense to me, a person of the theater! Now in my 60s and retired from full-time work, I am very excited to explore my essence more (I'm definitely a ruby), shop my closet with essence in mind, and find a way to bring stylish comfort to my at-home wardrobe. We never stop learning, and style is an evolution. #blackismywhite

    Rita, you're awesome!! Now i understand why i don't fit the kibbe system perfectly... I'm a gamine (lots of bold colours with small details and such), but i love your right-up /classyyyyy ( and sometimes even the right down) quadrants. Its my jam

    I love your system. It has brought me full circle and it is such a relief. For 30 some years I have studied style, and with all the systems you mentioned and several more. They left me with nothing concrete, until I found your system. Your system works at pulling them all together and making sense of them for me. Also, I love your attitude that if something doesn't work for you, that's okay. It takes a lot of pressure off. The only thing for me to do now is actually put together some outfits, and I'm really excited about that! Thank you!

    I hate my quadrant. I wish I were left so bad but I cannot be. I am uncomfortable with bland and refined and yet that is my personality. Im drawn to people that are flowy and artistic and I am a robot. My best friend is a flamboyant natural and wears this sexy witchy queen shit and I feel so much myself with that feeling. I am a theatrical romantic so my body looks stupid in anything thats not a bathing suit or body con but I want to be comfortable so I dont wear wjhat looks good on me so I feel ugly and not myself all the time. I feel the most myself when my outfit is loud and says about me to others how I feel about me but at the same time most of my style rules I wont break for others because it depends on what I personally feel like wearing on an occassion. So I cant decide between up and down. Hhhhhh

    • @StyleThoughtsbyRita
      @StyleThoughtsbyRita  Před 6 měsíci +9

      It sounds like you are being really down on yourself. I don't think your best style is something that makes you feel bad about yourself! You definitely do not come across as a bland robot here so I highly doubt that is an accurate description

  • @fixmymind8469

    I want to like the style logic. It seems to me like the meat of the system that one works with. It's so concrete without being rigid. Celebrity street or red carpet style doesn't interest me and I really need the kind of direction the style logic is supposed to bring about. But...
    Since I saw a comment of Rita's about neuroatypical people who need a persona to feel comfortable in interactions, I'm set on LU. No compromise, I need it. But... what??? I don't want to have to communicate things about my essential self to everyone who sees me! And that makes the basic style logic not work. I hate thinking about the situation and in this context I also hate thinking about "me."
    My heart says my self 100% belongs to me and is none of strangers' business and that's my truth and it needs to be honored. But realistically it's more like I want to not think about it and pursue a persona which may or may not be similar to any deeper essence, and other people can make their own judgments of it. It is true that "enigma" will generally describe strangers' overall impression of me whether I "do LU" or not, sure. Without a direction to go in, I do feel more unnatural or judged in that role and I also have a desire for extra-ness that I struggle to fulfill. Framing that desire as being my inner self feels like betraying my dream of enlivening, say, the part of my life that consists of things like going to the store, by looking like and feeling like "a character" who is from another world and does things that are impossible in the real world (hypothetically, of course, off-screen when we're not looking). It was hard work to give myself permission to pursue my desire to "be someone else" after wanting it for many years. It's not about not accepting myself. The more I love myself, the more I need it. It's not always easy to separate myself from messages about being yourself from people who intend to be helpful. What a dilemma that I also ended up having such a big question to which Rita has answers! It's been the source of a lot of frustration. I also struggled, like Granola Mommy described, with fitting my ideal style into reality, but now I feel like I'm a co-creator of reality with everyone else in it.
    I get that if I want to be intimidating, I can/should just decide something in me is intimidating because I want that, or something like that? But even if I assume perfect freedom for "me" to be anything, it would still feel less "free" to show it in public because that's less private. So, for now I am just vaguely doing "I want more 'up,' I'll do that" and thinking about the keywords and archetypes, I guess. I'm also trying to come up with or modify a "logic" that works for me. Or maybe the paradox of how "me" the problem is can break me out of it. Maybe I just need to ask this "someone else" what she wants to express.

    • @erinw4935
      @erinw4935 Před 7 měsíci +2

      I hope you don't mind my saying so, but you actually kind of sound like a Sapphire more than an Amethyst! Sapphire has that same "big" element as Amethyst, but the style doesn't come from a personal place. Left leaning styles want to reflect the truest version of themselves and their mental state in their style, while Right leaning want to project/embody something outside of themselves. Also, Right leaning tend to be more rule following, since they're always thinking about giving off a certain impression, compared to Lefts, who are more worried about how they can best embody themselves in their style.
      So, as a Sapphire, you'd still enjoy complicated and aspirational styles, but you wouldn't be inspired by trying to literally wear your heart on your sleeve! You can still dress in ways that can read slightly "costumey," but you'd be embodying a persona outside of yourself, like a character.
      I hope that helped!

    • @fixmymind8469
      @fixmymind8469 Před 7 měsíci

      Totally okay to say so, I appreciate the engagement! Whether I agree that I'm Sapphire is just a question of how I interpret the system, I guess. I actually remember saying something about technically using RU logic early on, but my style is so, so left that it just felt like a nuts thing to say, you know? Almost like a "gotcha, Rita!" My comment here didn't touch on it much (long enough already, lol), but prior to and since then, my aesthetic has just continually rocketed in a stereotypically LU direction, and my philosophy is still pretty much the same that it's a persona and not me. I don't worry about "how" anymore, I just do it. I believe that means the official answer is now that I don't need the system and therefore shouldn't try to find a type 🙂Of course, I still feel the pull/appeal/enjoyment of categories.
      From yourstylekey.com/sapphire I relate to
      "style is strategic"
      "My favorite outfits have typically been special occasions where I could go all out"
      "My outfits need to be harmonious" (this may seem like the odd one out here, but I don't just mean Kibbe harmonious, actually, it's the opposite, I have more of an idea that juxtaposition can be harmonious after doing Kibbe)
      "Goal: Successful Communication"
      Don't relate to at all:
      "hard for me to evaluate individual pieces"
      "I like some “classic” elements in my clothes"
      "What’s important about your environment?"
      The archetypes... some of them could work if you take the words in the description literally, but it's not the same archetypes that are in locations that seem like they would make more sense, so it feels like I'm twisting the words
      The medicine of luxury feels really wrong, but, I mean, all the medicines seem to kind of accomplish the same thing, that one just doesn't vibe with my programming, you know? I did really vibe with LD's logic and medicine, but something just feels infinitely better dressing "up"/stereotypically LU, both in how I feel about my clothes but also very much in how I'm seen and treated. Hence the insistence about being U in my comment, and the hanging around here even though I'm not using most of the components of the system--it's been really healing. At least in small doses.

      @@fixmymind8469 I had to read through allnof it to realize you are actualy not complaining and got something positive out of it. I am autistic so I perct up about the Neuroatypical and Persona.
      I think masking has a huge part for me. So initialy I thoight I was RD. But I think thats just my "I am normal and fit in" costume. Then I went to LD and it clicked a bit more but avter reflecting I realised I realy do not want to be so aproachable and I hate to be percived cuz I am just scared of atracting unwanted or the wrong attention when I am low spoons and can't deal woth it. Thats why I shy away from UP. But the thing is, if I express my UP in a Left kond of way, meaning ancored in my inner world first and making sure I feel good in it, and only then translate it to something that could be percived outside in a valume that is adjusted to my own energy of the moment, then I feel so grounded and save in my SELF that I can adabt a IDGA F atitude that makes me VERY ontimidating AND able to handel the atention from others. And thats realy freeing. I don't think I understand Persona vs Personable. I get hung up on words and take them more litteraly then they are ment or overthink them to much. But you can make up your own style kye words.
