Does this people even listen to what he's saying? He said he wants to give you a little history about his playing and who he is, so stop fucking commenting that he needs to shut up and play because he was clear at the beginning of the video on what he was gonna do first. Thank you. Chris... Such a great person/musician.
Chris came to my band's Megadeth tribute night in Cork, Ireland recently. I literally shat my pants when I saw him, but what's more is that I had to get up on stage and play most of the lead parts that he was gonna be playing the night afterwards haha. Then on top of that, while we were playing, the rest of Megadeth arrived. Talk about pressure!!!
Chris seems like such a nice guy. I met him very briefly in a Megadeth album signing and he was all smiles and looked happy to be there instead of looking like "has" to be there
Lol, that's how I got into music. I was a jock football player in middle school then I started to not get along with those kids. So one Christmas my parents out of random got me a skateboard, fell in love with it. Then I got skate shoes and met some kids that were into punk, played bass, drums, guitar, and the rest is history.
DangerZone unfortunately, you are correct sir. I’ve been clean for a little over 2 years now, been playin instruments for 30 years too. The future used to look so bright back in the day, until dope walked in, and the rest is cut and paste the same old story. Point is I guess, don’t so drugs kids!!
in my book, Boderick is one of those rare 7-string players who use it right in metal music. down tuning 7th string to low A just to get big chucks out of it is so not my thing.
I took classical lessons for 2 years in high school, once a week, but each time I got done with a lesson I'd go home and try to play Whiplash with just my pointer finger.
This is a nice look into Chris's story behind the guitar. What he's gone through is good to know. Sometimes I feel the same way with all the stuff there is to learn so it's good to see that their's a way around that without feeling overwhelmed. I definitely gotta start practicing more, I been slacking.
... so nice to see a guitarist that is not full of himself, and did not change doing what he likes ... the greatest thing about Chris is his character, and is what you ideally try to achieve in your career, and many never realize that's more important than being a big hot shot in the music field :) so, with such healthy character it does not matter what you will be doing, it will be always great :)
seems like a pretty well rounded / open minded music lover, that just happens to be a crazy talented guitar player. If you read this Chris, Cheers to you!
He truly loves the guitar, you can tell from his desire to master anything associated with it, be it classical/metal/everything in between. There are a lot more people who simply love a single stilted portion of an artistic discipline, rather than the discipline itself, and everything under it. I admire and sympathize with his love of skill.
The things that i like from chris brodrick, he is not just one of the best but humble as well. Thats what influences and passionates me to play guitar.
Man now this is amazing!! He is such a great guitar player & so humble & open minded! Hes conversation with me was even more private & he made me keep on going I will always thank Chris Broderick!!!
I am loving listening to this guy. He seems grounded and well educated, yet still capable of thinking outside the box and evolving his playing. A healthy balance between theory and creativity.
My favorite thing in metal, is exactly what chris is demonstrating. the fact that metal players can and usually do appreciate EVERYTHING. there are very few players in country or jazz that can appreciate or even love metal players.
I really respect chris Brodericks disciplined approach to learning and playing guitar. His desire for perfection and proficiency has led him to develop into a guitarist who can play the most technical of guitar pieces in peak form. I really admire the level of proficiency. I can't think of to many guitarist who can touch him based solely on technical ability.
wow, i know how he felt about classical guitar in college. I'm a classical guitar major as well and man, I did not have a library of classical guitar music or the technical aspect or classical guitar either. It was tough! but he's right, it's so cool and a great style to learn and apply in different elements of music.
You applied your classical guitar So well in Megadeth, We miss you. Kiko is doing a great job in your place. Keep it up, some of us still love your music, classical too!
This guy is sick. I like how he is a professional in a big metal band, can play like a mad man and yet he is still eager to learn and practice. I find that rare among some other guitar players. Its official. Im a Chris Broderick fan !
I feel like chris broderick wasnt really utilized properly in megadeth. i mean, endgame his guitar playing was completely phenomenal and i was hoping the song style from end game would continue. it didnt and even though i loved 13 and even liked super collider, he wasnt really putting all of his style into those songs.
He quit because him and mustain butted heads over style and chris left/fired but in interveiws dave hints at drug use which is a big NO in megadeth because dave is a recovering addict who has been sober for a long time
Awesome that he mentions Scott Mishoe, underrated as hell, just as Chris is. I think it's funny to see interwiews with people that are of the same mindset as yourself, because you recognise everything.
I am in love with this white Jackson. I was in the front row at Megadeths first and last show in Reno both times I knew I loved this guitar! Chris is an awesome guitarist to say the least . Would love to see it in a Mediterranean blue gloss with platinum hardware, maybe some abalone inlayed rose design on the fret board. Mahogany or Ebony an absolute must. One of the most beautifully cut instruments I've seen.
It's a nice coincidence that Malmsteen's rise to fame was at the same period that he was into classical music to kind of to be able to interconnect his both passions. Apart from that, I can relate to all Broderick's talking about and I'm happy that he replaced Drover in Megadeth. He loves music and guitars against all those genre-lovers and I appreciate that a lot!
Never paid much attention to this guy, my friend Steve was his tech for a year w megadeth , didn't think much of it. That has changed after seeing this video and hearing his playing and story super cool! I may even investigate more classical guitar.
I met chris broderick last weekend at a megadeth meet n greet, he is honestly one of the kindest people i've ever met. In my opinion and I'm sure most people (at least guitar players) will agree that he is the best guitarist in the big 4
@guitarslasher3100 I understand that, but I'm planning to use it to play mainly on the electric and to shift between the pick-playing and the classical style of plucking, because now I'd either drop the pick and pluck or hold the pick between my lips and pluck. Using a thumb-pick like a regular pick may eliminate that..............
"I was thinking about dropping high school"
"I told my mom and she begged me to stay"
"So I stayed for like another week"
LOOL.

its rare to find a metal musician respecting other musical genre musicians.. gotta respect this guy
Mr. Chris Shredderick
dude, pick scraping will always be awesome
Extremely talented and grounded guitar player...much respect.
Chris seems like such a nice guy. I met him very briefly in a Megadeth album signing and he was all smiles and looked happy to be there instead of looking like "has" to be there
The funny thing is, is he quit. lol
Haha, yeah. Him and drover.
Here's where everyone screams "bring back Friedman and menza !".
I hope they get some great musicians for the next album.
Dave Bostock Someone i work with told me Marty and Nick were gonna do the 25th anniversary RIP tour.
I'd love to see it they do !
Maybe bring Kerry in too, they dont seem to be doing much since Hanneman died.

Real musicians shoot junk
WashingtonMonster86 hell yeah nothing better then skating and metal
Awesome

I love the fact he mentioned the social change when you start playing
The only guitar player in megadeth who played 99.9 % as on the CDs.
Agree megadeth Will never get a good guitarrist like This man 👨
@@juniorgaming7941 Broderick will be thier best guitarist they ever had
@@iqm4574 Friedman pioneered the shred movement tho
@@sabotageret6562 also has the most memorable and melodic solos imo.
Yall can't be serious man. Kiko beats every megadeth guitarist in every category and it's not even close😂😂
in my book, Boderick is one of those rare 7-string players who use it right in metal music. down tuning 7th string to low A just to get big chucks out of it is so not my thing.
A. Nilla-or That's why I bought an 8 string. I just bring a 7 and an 8 when playing gigs and switch em on stage. Prob solved.
Chugs*
Ok boomer
Ok boomer
I would like to take some of his lessons.
CHRIS BRODERICK YOU ARE AMAZING!!
Thank you so much for your amazing lessons!
I must say this is the best video interview i've seen on guitar world in a long time. What a great guy.
I took classical lessons for 2 years in high school, once a week, but each time I got done with a lesson I'd go home and try to play Whiplash with just my pointer finger.
The dude is so chilled and down to earth but such an amazing guitarist, this is unreal

This is one of the best interviews I've seen in a while. Chris Broderick seems like such a cool guy, and he's better than god could be at guitar.
he's so humble and at the same time, he's so incredibly talented.

So much respect gained from this. Mentioning Mishoe and Hiland. Both are geniuses. Broderick rules at what he does.
Jesus christ I can't stop staring at that guitar its sooooo good looking on him
I can relate to this ... so many great players from so many different styles, I want to learn it all but were do you begin!
Where Can I Get That Ibanez LACS Chris Broderick Signature 7 String?
Where Can I Find An Ibanez Chris Broderick Signature RGA 7-String With Reversed Headstock?
When you get old, get a mandolin and play some bluegrass. Metal chops sound awesome on the mandolin.
so awesome! Love this video!!!!!
I appreciate him now even more... Dude, he is versatile and awesome!
I really enjoyed the whole video and also learned alot :D
This man is a legend... Greetings from Slovakia ;)
What a great dude! And, to boot, he got the gig as Megadeth lead. A life of total satisfaction!

agree...Super collider was kinda a mega let down...
@@templeofflesh7310 Broderick left to pursue his own style of music, he was tired of being a hired gun.

What is the name of the songs that play at the begining?
I Love this Guy. 😊🎸⭐
Interesting . He inspires me .
Great stuff.
did he say "Scott Mishue" around the 6:35 mark?? does anyone know where to find Scott's music??
what song is the melody from Yngwie from on 6:03?

What guitar is that?,,, i mean i saw it's an Ibanez but i wanna know what model is that...
What kind of pick is that? Like a thumb pick and regular plec combined?
what does he play at around 6;00 i cant understand what he says
is there a extra low string or high string?
i needed this
Love it! Great story.
this dude kicks ass, such a great guitarist
chris you are a great guy! keep on rocking!
Anyone know what kind of guitar he has in this video?
Mind opening 🙏💙
Is the guitar playing during the intro something that's composed specifically for that, or can I find it elsewhere?
What yngwie stuff is it? around 6:08??
anybody know what kinda amp that is?
what is the name of the song of yngwie malmsteen that he plays on 6:06 ?
awesome video. love the depth that he goes in to :-)
The 47 people who thumbs downed this.....go play in traffic please.
What Malmsteen song does he play at 6:04?
I love this vid so much it's so real.Chris you are feaking amazing!
i think he just blew my mind out about music let alone life
Pretty awesome. The man knows his stuff!
@lgcmetallica thnks but do you know the name of the music?
So inspiring when guitar players talk about their history
Broderick is so technically talented but I still think Friedman has the feel. Rock on Chris
ABSOLUTELY!
+David Mardakhayev Friedman totally has the feels, I think Broderick was a bad fit for megadeth.
what song is he playing at 6:00?
@almudjk kinda but its really just a pick holder so he can quickly invert to tapping and back
He seems really chilled out and modest, proper role model
Which riff is on 6:47 ?
can anyone tell me the exact model of his guitar? i want it!
@guitarslasher3100 I understand that, but I'm planning to use it to play mainly on the electric and to shift between the pick-playing and the classical style of plucking, because now I'd either drop the pick and pluck or hold the pick between my lips and pluck. is this an ibanez? ik its not a jackson but it doesnt look like the standard ibanez. i do know however he had an endorsement with them.
what's holding the pick on his thumb?
@TDBmusic1 yeah I´ve noticed that aswell. tho he played his ibanez 7 string at the beginning of his Megadeth carreer
We NEED more Chris Broderick
