    Good review. I have owned my Tank 300 HEV Ultra since late October 2023 and it’s about to go for its 10000km service. I also still own my 2013 Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon. The Tank is a much nicer ride and definitely has the 4x4 capabilities of the Rubicon. Unlike what you found about sound quality of calls, people calling me couldn’t hear the difference between me driving or being in the office on calls. The sound quality of the infotainment is also pretty good, it could be because of the higher HEV Ultra spec. It takes a bit getting used to the little annoyances like the indicator lever etc and in my case the stupid camera facing the driver, but I love the Tank. The hybrid fuel consumption is better with combined driving constantly below 10l/100km. Let us hope it can do the time. $61k compared to $85k+ for the Rubicon made it a no brainier for me

    This is one of the best reviews I've seen on CZcams. Practical, no nonsense, with a bit of fun thrown in at the end. Well done. The small load limit is a limitation that I wouldn't be able to live with. It's not high enough for a family wagon. Aside from that... its fairly impressive.

    Nice. I've been surprised on the up side with my pertrol ultra over 7 months or so. I may fit some upgraded suspension, we'll see - there's plenty of high quality choices around now for the Tank. I travel solo and tow a jetski at times so no issues with the gvm for me but the suspension upgrade may upgrade that side as well as correcting the braking - not that I have any issue with that. Surprisingly comfortable and capable is my verdict so far.

    IMO some people greatly exaggerating the lifting rear wheels for fraction of second under 100% braking. The main thing is everytime you do it, the car does not spin out, rolled over or lost control and still have similar stopping distance as other dual cab utes.
    And of course you never ever slammed the brakes in the corner even if you're driving sports car, let alone 4x4 off roader with ladder frame chassis.

    • @goldfools5445
      @goldfools5445 Před 2 měsíci +6

      If you have slammed the brakes on at 100kph, you are probably more concerned about the object in front of you that’s closing fast.
      It wouldn’t be “I think the rear wheels left the ground for a nanosecond”…

    • @ianweal3081
      @ianweal3081 Před 2 měsíci +4

      @@goldfools5445 Gosh, you're a thinking man, just as I am.
      Exactly, if you have found yourself in the predicament of accelerating to 100klm's an hour and then jumping on the brake pedal with maximum force,
      A) you have driven beyond your ability & necessity, hence
      B) your focus as you said will be on what's closing in at a horrendous rate.
      C) in the final act, whom will be measuring what distance the rear wheels were in the friggin air.
      After such an event,
      Your Focus will be, hope I didn't shit my pants cause that'll be embarrassing, ha!
      What's being totally overlooked with this hyped up issue.
      GWM designed the 300 as a Hybrid, hence the base models don't have the weight of the battery BUT, yes BUT do retain the Rotors, Calipers, Brake Pads designed to stop the hybrid, plus are fitted with bloody good road gripping rubber.
      Truly, no issue.
      Hard braking & rapid stops occur in residential driving, mostly under 70-80 Klm's an hour.

    • @Drivecomau
      @Drivecomau  Před 2 měsíci

      It's possible to happen, in an emergency of an animal strike for example. But also not likely for a lot of users. - Sam

    • @ianweal3081
      @ianweal3081 Před 2 měsíci +2

      @@Drivecomau Sam, 100% agree. Problem is, kangaroos are the most likely animal, correct.
      What do people do in that circumstance, most swerve whilst braking hard (with all four wheels on ground), hence usually lose control then end up the statistic whilst said Kangaroo hops away.
      Do the same in Tank, same result, would wheels momentarily lifting be blamed, you bet it will be, but others crash irrespective of vehicle.
      Bottom line, Do Not Swerve, brake hard whilst dropping speed retaining control and if necessary strike the Roo and then you can drive on providing radiator remains intact.
      As I said previously, accelerating to 100klms an hour and braking at max force is not the norm, as per example set by journos.
      If you are driving at 100klms an hour and have to emergency brake to that extent you have not been focused on the surrounding, not driving with enough attention, diligence.
      Emergency braking is normally residential, below 80klms an hour.
      Sorry, don't see it as the issue it's being hyped up to be.

    • @michaelhermans4753
      @michaelhermans4753 Před 2 měsíci +1

      After doing a few defensive and off road training courses,
      A) you tend to hit what your looking at, so look at the gap
      B) kill the speed first ie don’t swerve
      C) once you’ve killed the speed take your foot off the the brake and head for the gap

    Test drove the hybrid version for a day n half ; impressed overall
    Strong points ; for a 4wd -nice refined drive ; very smooth ; nice suspension overall ; tech pretty good ; actual seat / drive comfort ; adaptive cruise cntl very good ; cabin quiet ; sunroof good ; POWER very good - tourque on steep hills ok ; fuel economy combined - 320 kms 37 liters used - this was not super bad for such a heavy vehicle - could have been worse - considering the power it had etc.
    Things not so good - sound system ( in ultra hydrid) just ok - muddy sound / quality so so ; fuel consumption for a hybrid - could be better ; lane keep and driver monitoring systs - not good at all ; vehicle weight vs power on tap - if used near full on less perfect roads can loose control rather quickly as speeds rise - care n restraint needed here ; interior overall quality - mix of good & cheapish - a lot of the plastics still have a cheap look n feel .
    Thats it ; overall was quite impressed and would definitely buy one if the price of the hybrid comes down near 50k.
    But until then , happy with my Subaroo Outback 😊

    Hi, I really love the styling of the tank 300 but I don’t understand why you don’t want to keep putting the small 2 L motors in these cars. Specially if you’re going to tow anything is like the tank 500 still has the same size motor and it is the same price as a Isuzu D max. Why would you do it? Apparently GWM are going to start putting a 2.4 L motor in next year starting to get realistic a bit like the Mitsubishi Triton. New one 2.4 L twin turbo. No thanks to many moving parts. Specially if you’re going around Australia and towing a caravan Anyway, that’s all my opinion, and it doesn’t matter much

In the age of Google and AI, you still found it necessary to make a total pleb of yourself. The Bronco was announced in 2020 with the release of design sketches. GWM came out a year and a couple of months after Ford's release so Ford copied them even if their announcement was in 2016 and final sketches made public in 2020? Everyone but you know the Chinese are copy masters and they usually would churn out a house car in a short time hence the poor build quality of the Tank. Exit stage left and do your homework before embarrassing yourself and came to market in 2021 as far as I know the GWM came to market a WHOLE year later in 2022. It's worrying you would think a gain like Ford would copy a relatively unknown poorly put-together Chinese brand. Please don't help your children do their homework they'll fail.

      @saddist1Gtown Před 2 měsíci

      @@jxwithchickenwing Another pleb talking bile. Mate the tank did indeed come to market only a couple MONTHS before the Bronco. It was rushed to market because if you were;t so lazy or ignorant you would know the sixth-gen Bronco was announced by as early as 2016 officially by Ford and design sketches were made public in 2020 so the fact that GWM came to market in 2021 as well as Ford a couple months after only highlights the fact that as they do with the iPhone and other western products they copied and rush to market a poor product as evident in the many flaws of the Tank. By the way, look at the Bronco's design from 1966 a year when the GWM factory would have been rice fields? You're an embarrassment mate.
