I like your style. Get to the point with no flowery speech. That's a great video.
Thanks Robert.
@@JohnnyBrunetIt would be even better with no music. That's helpful for those who have hearing loss and people who are on the autism direction.
Probably the very best video I've ever seen on tips for beginning griddle users. THANK YOU
You're welcome Tom thanks for watching.
Oh my God, all the bud light comments are comedy gold. Great video by the way, and I think you handled those comments well.
Lol I can't believe you went thru and read them all. And thanks I'm trying to keep the channel about cooking and not dive into whatever they're trying to make it about. There's just gotta be some places on the internet where you can go and just enjoy stuff without social politics or whatever coming up. I'm hoping my channel is that. I really appreciate you watching.
@JohnnyBrunet I recently found your channel. Your advice is excellent. Your unprepared comedy is great. Keep doing what you do. I have really benefited from your work.
You lost me when you popped the Bud Light.
@@barrybrown3080Oh please! 🙄 You're asking him to know in advance the controversy around Bud Light. Just enjoy the content without getting triggered.
I've done the bonus tip! Have been doing workout for the past 25 years! Bought a griddle last week. Time to make a change in life!
Within the first 20 seconds, I said to myself, “ self, this guy could be your best friend!!” Great tips and video, for a guy that’s not “ the sharpest tool in the shed”, but likes to eat good food!
Thanks man I'm so glad you liked the video and ya I'm sure we would be friends. I appreciate you watching buddy.
Great tips for sure. I have used the mayo tip for toasting for at least a year or more and it's perfect. Since watching your videos I have turned down the heat on my eggs. My eggs now look better and even taste better since I always used pretty high heat. Thanks.
Hey Jerry I'm so glady advice on the eggs has helped you, you are very welcome. Ya the mayo thing is crazy because I just found out but you'll talk to someone and they'll say they've been doing it forever. I still use butter occasionally but it's a nice alternative. Thanks so much for watching and commenting.
Rub mayo on skinless chicken and it will hold your seasonings while making a tasty crust. You will not taste the mayonnaise.
Love the humor in your video. This was an important teaching video. Thanks for making it for us beginners. Loved the part about taking up exercising and lying to your doctor. Thanks big time!
Hi Clark, thanks so much I'm glad you think the videos are funny, and hopefully helpful too. Congratulations on the new griddle if you just got one. Thanks for watching.
Great video, right to the point!! No long flowery explanations... thanks for all you do.....
Glad you liked it Wayne, thanks for watching.
LOL @4:00 "BONUS TIP" I feel you brother. Thank you for making these videos!
Great tips! I especially like the “bonus” tip 😆
My add on tip... for a “ghetto bacon press” I wrap a brick with aluminum foil. I use it on a lot more than just bacon!
That's not ghetto. It's used for chicken called spatchcock. The backbone is removed and flattened down, then heavy bricks are placed on top to keep a steady and uniform cooking throughout. It's been around for centuries.
@@andregraves3825 now that you mentioned the spatchcock chicken I guess I did already know that... just forgotten and thought for a short while that I was brilliant 😂
However I did NOT know the origins of it. Didn’t realize it was Italian. Thanks for the info.
@@brentduganiero1631 Some say Italian, some say Irish. Either way, we're both BRILLIANT!!
I did not know the history behind that thanks for sharing guys. Ya I say whatever gets the job done is the right tool.
Ever seen those antique irons for clothes that are now just used for decoration? Ours lives by the griddle now!
Oh my word!!! Yesss add mayonnaise then toast!! 🎉🎉 I’ve been doin that for years!!!
Good video and great tips!! Griddle cooking definately has a learning curve which is why videos like these are so helpful. I mean, the last thing you want to do is to struggle in front of your family and friends while cooking for them at your next gathering.
Thanks DMJ I'm glad you found it helpful. I agree there's definitely a small learning curve but it's so worth it in the end.
Love your videos!!! Both informative and funny.
Thank you Sabrina I'm so glad you like them. I appreciate you watching and hopefully they help you cook some great food on the griddle.
I just so happy to see how much your subcribers have grown because you wouldn't give up your believed you could do it and your did. By next week you should be at 10k
Thanks so much Sarrel. I can't believe it either but it wouldn't have happened if people like you didn't comment and support early on. It's very weird at first but nice to have a few people like you and Bobbi who commented. Thank you so much.

Loved this - a griddle truly changes things. As an RV person, I have a griddle and a grill, and while the principal advice works with both the larger and smaller griddles, here's what I would add:
Definitely know your griddle - the hot spots and the warm spots. You are a griddle god when you can make the toast, eggs and bacon finish at the same time based on where you locate them.
Portable griddles - spend time leveling them as best you can before you go crazy. That same griddle that worked to perfection will crap-out when out of level.
Portable griddles part 2 - no, sorry, travelers: griddles don't replace grills. Griddles+smashburgers = success. Griddles+fat sirloin burgers = greasy messes that would have completed 1000 times better on a standard grill. Fry versus flame broil. You can come close to emulating, but you can't replace. I have both units in my rig for a reason.
Like any long-term relationship, provide much love to your griddle surface. The difference between a crap cooking session and success is determined about how that griddle surface has been maintained. This won't be new news to anybody who's spent time worshipping at the cast-iron pan altar. Keep that griddle surface oil-pre-treated and loved, and it will deliver you eggs without torn-up yolks, burgers flipped without a mechanical fight, and clean-ups with not much more than a damp rag run over the still-warm surface. At the end of every RV season, I lovingly gift the surface with a scouring followed by a ~ 1 hour treatment with the RIGHT oil, to leave me a griddle next season ready to love me back.
Thanks for all the tips and suggestions Wendy. I totally agree with that a griddle and a grill each have things that they do better. I like thick burgers and steaks on the grill. I appreciate you watching.
Being so the mayonnaise thing for years! Awesome.
Nice pun with the beveled edge/sharpest tool in the shed 😉 Thanks for the tips, your vids are great!
Thanks! Glad you caught it and I appreciate you watching. Hopefully the tips help out.
I think you solved a mystery... local pub serves an amazing Angus burger. Their "Chicago" burger comes on bread that looks exactly like your mayonnaise-toasted bread. I gotta try that at home.
Great tips. Just ordered a griddle top for my gas grill so taking first dive into griddle content. Also love the defiant way you snapped open the can in the beginning.

We're a family of 6 and ever since I saw my buddy (family of 8) use his griddle I was sold. Moving next week and buying a brand new griddle to bring with me. Thanks for all the tips Johnny 👍
Hey Chris, you are very welcome. Family of 6 wow I feel overwhelmed with just one 6 month old baby right now hahaha. Ya I think you'll love it, it's perfect for a large family. You will have to prep inside then bring it all out to the griddle but when you're done cooking you'll only have to clean the griddle rather than like 5 pots and pans. I'm excited for you and your family! Thanks for watching.
@@JohnnyBrunet congrats on the little one. Gets easier the more you have tbh, lots of hands to help out. It's gonna take some getting used to as far as prep goes (I'm sure I'll forget a ton of stuff in the beginning) but I'll let you know when I get to some of your recipes. All the best

I don't use plastic squeeze bottles. I use recycled glass soy sauce bottle. The ones that look like half of an hour glass. Great video!
That's a great idea Christopher! I will have to start saving my used soy sauce bottles. Thanks for sharing!
To be fair, I only bought the soy sauce for the bottle, lol.
When I was a young and broke, now I'm just old and broke, I picked up a large piece of 1/4 steel plate from the scrap yard and place it over the campfire ring.. After burning it in I would place the meat on the high side and let the grease drip down to the rest of the meal. After it would cool down I'd clean and oil it and wrap it in a piece of canvas for storage. It is indestructible.
That's super cool!
Great tips thanks for sharing!

Great glad you liked them and congratulations on the new Blackstone. Also thanks for watching multiple videos.
Absolutely loving your chat ya big ride… Cheers

Hey Johnny, I think another good tip for beginners would be to level your griddle. Don't need the oil running off to the side or corner.
I totally agree Todd. Oil or scrambled eggs could both run away from you. Thanks so much for adding that.

Ya it's definitely a huge help with eggs. Thanks for watching.
Great tips Johnny. Love the one about using a dome to make sure the egg whites cook. I do that even inside sometimes. Gotta try the mayo on the bread. I see folks from Blackstone do that too. Keep up the awesome job. Cheers.
Thanks Lisa! Ya I saw an episode of America's test kitchen where they use a lid inside to cover there pan and cook the whites on eggs so I also do it like that. They cook the eggs for just a few minutes then cover and remove them from the heat and let them sit for like 2 more minutes until the whites set up. Its worked great for me. Thanks again for watching and definitely try the mayo.

Instant classic, nice job brother!!!
Thanks brother, appreciate it!
Toasting mayo is awesome. It's good on grilled cheese too. Highly recommend.
I just started doing it a year ago and I love it.
Another way to spice up 'toasted' bread (I use Duke's lol), is shake a tiny bit of Montreal Steak seasoning on it. You can use any seasoning you like, that one's just my general use favorite, lol. It's insanely good on grilled steak sandwiches.
That's a great idea too. I will give it a try. I also love the Montreal seasoning.
That was kinda fun. Hell I'll subscribe . Cheers 🍻

Oh that's super cool!!!! Are you going to be doing festivals or sporting events or just street vending? What all are you planning on serving?
Amazing again at what you get that thing thru 👍

Definitely goods tips that I am using on my griddle. My ten cents: On the hash brown potato I noticed that you can get a better crusty if mixed it with some corn starch before putting it on the griddle. On the smash burgers it is better to flat the meet before you griddle it.
I've never tried either one of those things thanks for the tips! I will definitely give them a try.
@@JohnnyBrunet Another one for hash: Always squeeze the excess liquid out of your shredded potatoes. They come out crisper AND less greasy feeling.

MAYONNAISE (Dukes if you can get it) is AWESOME fir grilling bread...especially grilled cheese sammiches!!!
Thanks Johnny for a bunch more great tips to help us all be better griddlers. I got most of the tools in plastic or silicon for my indoor griddle. Wish they could make a warming rack that could take the heat and not scratch my griddle! Also, I have toasted my bread using mayonnaise, its the bomb!
Thanks buddy I'm glad you liked the tips. They make plastic racks for 1/3 pans I've purchased them for my work. Check like webstuarant.com or Katom. They shouldn't scratch up the E-series.
Actually now that I think about it I don't know if they could handle the heat. I've only used them for steaming which is like 220°. Let me look into it and get back to you.

My grandma used to make grilled cheese using mayo as a kid so it was normal for me and i think tastes better. Some people ive told think it sounds gross but considering mayo is mostly oil it makes sense.

hahah the struggle is real Chase.
That's how I always make eggs, in the house or on griddle. You will never need to flip the eggs ever again. How long you steam them depends how you want the yolk. Me personally, runny yolks and I don't get along well. My yolks are done, but they look and taste like a great boiled egg yolk. Delicious 😋

Mayo for grilled cheese is the bomb (or any seriously toasted bread). I've been doing this for years. With butter it soaks into the bread and makes it a little soggy, and then you're reliant on the bread to crisp.
Ya I totally agree.
Great stuff! Ive usedd a bunch of those over the years but still learned something watching it. Been a Fireman for over 40 years, the proximity you have your grill to the wooden fence could become a problem someday and even stain it. The heat can actually breakdown the composition of the wood and it could even possibly ignite. Put it out with the BUD LIGHT!

Can you tell me why my food taste like canola oil when finished. I did scramble eggs and hash browns from one of your videos and the egg taste horrible … should I be using a different oil. I thought you said in one video a mixture of oil. Need help on this. TIA
Hi Missy, I'm sorry it's tasting that way. Are you using canola? I would recommend using less oil when doing your eggs and scraping the egg area down then cleaning it with water before you cook them. Another option is to just use butter for your cook and no oil at all. I hope that helps.
