I heat up the tortilla slightly so it won't crack when frying
Me too
Wow, Im so happy this popped up in my feed. This brings back so many wonderful memories. My Mom used to make these for us and we would dip them in sour cream. We called them Mexican Corn Dogs. (just a tip- you can microwave the tortillas in a paper towel for about 30 seconds, it softens them and helps them from cracking) Simple comfort food. You are a wonderful Mom, God bless you for your kindness for sharing your recipes.
We live in San Antonio, Texas and here we call them crispy dogs. We dip the corn tortillas in hot oil to soften them. Then add the wiener and cheese and fry them. While eating we dip them in mustard.

Also live in San Antonio and it’s crispy dogs to us. Back in the old days there was a drive in movie theater named Circle 81 and they sold crispy dogs at their concession stand. We dip them in mustard or Dijon mustard. I make them all the time and I put the tortillas in the microwave first to soften them up.
@@dove5272 San Anto in da house you must live in Alamo White's (Heights) pulling out the Dijon mustard.lol
@@joebrito4266 lol….no Alamo heights….puro south side
Hello from Clovis! We have a restaurant here that makes these they call them Pig-in-a-Pancho. They use flour tortillas and add cheese. Super yummy. I'm glad your channel showed up in my feed!
My family is from Clovis
"Pig in a pancho."😁
I used to buy these off the food truck when I worked construction in Phoenix az in the late 80s so good with a side of fries and a soda with crushed ice
Look good. Never heard of Mexican hot dogs. Will have to try. Thank you for sharing.

I was stationed at Lemoore NAS with VA125 in April 1962. It was all brand new then. The trees were small starters and I was the first tenet in my barracks room. I have good memories of the airbase.
Oh Margaret I love your videos. You don’t have to be dressed up because you have a natural beauty!
My great grandmother used to make these and what she would do was put a slit in the hotdog and fill it with cheese and her mustard sauce and she would wrap them up! Omgoodness the best thing I ever had 😊
This would be a great movie time snack 😋 !! Thank you for idea!! Stay blessed 🙏
My Dad and Mom used to make these for us growing up. Now I make them for my grandkids.
My home girl made these for me once. She wrapped the hot dog with bacon they were bomb.
I agree mustard is the proper topping
That's sp smart putting the glass cutting board fpr a work surface on the stove. Now I have something to look in the thrift stores
So glad to see more people enjoying these. We add a strip of sliced cheese and and it has that crisp around the edges.. My dad used to say "I wonder what the poor people are eating " lol this was a delicatessen
Wow,you brought back some very old memories.
My family is from Louisiana we use to make these more than 50 years ago.
I can still taste the flavor
Very cool.
I’ve been making those for years. I call them Mexican Corn dogs. I make them on the grill. It’s not a greasy and the crunch is awesome.
you take about four of those corn tortillas and stick them on a little plate and put them in the microwave for about 1 minute and they're flexible so that you can roll them and they won't tear
Looks good thank you for sharing
We have been making these for years. My 7yr old twins love them. I warm my tortillas in a moist paper towel in the microwave then roll them up close with a toothpick and fry like that. Such a quick and easy meal. We like just adding shredded cheese and for me tapatio too.
I love making Chicano hot dogs 😂
But I heat up tortillas a bit in the microwave and dry the dogs before rolling them,so the grease won't pop so much! Love them!🤤
With mustered.
When we were kids, El Torito a Mexican restaurant on LI used to make "Chimi Dogs" Hot dogs and American cheese in a flour tortilla and baked. I still make them occasionally 30+ years later. Good stuff.
My Mom used to make these when I was.a kid, except she would cut a slit down the hotdog and insert cheddar cheese then roll it up and use 2 tooth picks to fry them. Great with hot sauce dribbled on it as you eat it.
Next time add a strip of raw bacon after the cheese ! 😋
Yes, great idea to soft fry or heat tortillas on the comal. Thanks for sharing this easy snack recipe.
In San Antonio TX there was a place called The Malthouse it called them crispy dogs. I miss that place. It had good food
@@franciscoteveni5847my grandpa always talked about that place☺️
My mom made some with canned biscuits pulled and stretched around the hot dogs.
Pig's in a blanket my fav .
Tex Mex hot dogs. Mexican food funny stuff. My family from Laredo, TX, its a small world .Thanks.
I've been making them for 40+ years. We call them hot dog tacos. We had them for dinner the other night.
Iike yellow corn tortillas myself. I enjoyed some great Mexican food while I was there. Never heard of Mexican hot dogs.
Looks so good!!! 😊
So Cal here, my family has eaten these for decades. We call them half-breeds, half Mexican and half American. Put some mustard on them, or dip them. Delicious.
Subscribed the moment I heard NM. Authenticity really does matter in this cuisine! I'm looking forward to a binge watch soon. Much love from Roswell! 🛸 ❤
Welcome aboard!
The hot dogs look great! Thank you, I will make them!
Hey hello, my fam was stationed at NAS Lemoore, Ca. I went to that highschool for 3yrs. I kinda miss it, there's just not much to do out there.
I'm 70...and my mom made them for us growing up. She called them TOCDOGs.... my kids call them tacodogs. I steam the tortilla a little in the microwave and I cut the dogs in half the long way. I would rather have 2 tortillas with 1 hot dog. Then I also use my pickers to hold in the oil so they don't flip open. Then fry crunchy.....and DIP IN MUSTARD. Boom, a corn dog...or taco dog. My hubby and I have been eating them all summer for lunch. My tip because I hate cleaning my stove.....I use the insert from my dead instapot, put an inch of oil in the bottom. You can fry without it spattering high out of the top of the pot. I use that pot just on top of my gas stove for frying. Sure makes cleaning easier. Hugs from Utah....but grew up and lived in Southern calif for 50 years. And our corn tortillas were yellow back in the day
Thank you for the wonderful tips.
Yummy! I'm going to make these this week! Thankyou!
I was at Lemoore from '72 to '74. Those look delicious! I think I'll have mine with queso or chili.
When I do these I slice the hot dog open slightly and put a piece of cheese in there then roll then into the tortilla and into the oil. Learned this from a small Mexican eateries in seal beach
Great job! I love the coffee percolator on the back burner! 🙏❤️👍
I think that's a grease saver...
It is my grease can
My bad!! Great video though!❤👍🙏
I can't wait to try these! Thanks. Barb in Oklahoma
After your oil heats up, (before you start cooking), dip your tortillas in the hot oil briefly and they will stay soft and pliable. You should be able to roll them and just set them in the pan without having to hold them.
When we need to make hundreds of enchiladas in the restaurants, we dip the entire package of tortillas at once in a deep fryer using tongs.
we warm them on the fire to soften the tortilla and then roll them so they dont fall apart
Hello Margaret kitchen. I just found it today July 27,24, and I watched you cook your mamas posole. I am from New Mexico and I basically do it the same but I don’t cook everything together. But if I was in Albuquerque I would surely stop by for a bowl. I’m looking forward to checking out New Mexico recipes and see how they are different or similar to the way I cook. I did notice your grapevine warm Scentsy warmer in the corner of your counter. That’s because I am a Scentsy consultant. You make cooking look fun. Have a blessed day always. Pauline
My mom used to make them. She called them Crispy dogs. She was from Texas.
As a kid growing up my mother made those but she didn’t called them Mexican hotdogs my mom didn’t have a name for them but yea they was really good.
Have been making these for 40+ years😋
Cook the tortillas on a comal for several seconds so they won’t break apart. Def gonna try this recipe
Good tip!
If you warm the tortillas up a bit in the microwave they won't crack.... I'm almost 70 I had these as kid
I'm sure those are amazing.
Ok. Here we go! An exciting video of Mexican hot dogs. I just started watching.
In SA they call them Krispy dogs
@@michaelcrippen3382 something so simple,yet satisfying
Been eating them since 1975. We call them chihuahua dogs here in dip south texas. With a homemade salsa made with chile del monte, and an ice cold Bohemia beer!!!

🎉winner 🏆 I have to make them now ❤😂
Smother them with red chile ,cheese, and onion. So good.
Looks great I gotta try it
Please do!
Interesting.😊 They remind me of corn dogs.😃
If you warm up the Tortillas before it will soften them and they won't tear like that. 25 seconds in the microwave. Just put the whole package in.
I always heat them a little so they don't crack when rolling them. I made the mistake of not preheating them and they broke. But those do look yummy for as simple as they are.
We love them broken and all 😆 🤣
Very Interesting & Looks
"TASTY" As Well All Need is Mustard Dip
Or A Mustard/Taco Dip Sauce 🤗😋😜😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋
Thank you. I try them👍
You are welcome 😊
Mexican hotdog is appropriate title because of the tortilla. Like the quesadilla is a Mexican pizza without the tomatoes sauce
Been doing these a long time, only difference is, I slit the dogs and put a long chunk of cheese( any type you like, I vary it) & wrap, toothpick, and fry. Delish!
Hebrew National are the best I feel.
Those look delicious. Enjoy.
We call those crispy dogs here in San Antonio TEXAS.
We also use smoke sausage, chicken, beef and pork.
I’m going to have this.
I could eat all 8 of them they looked good 👍🏻
I make those too but if you warm up the tortillas they wont break & try boiling the hotdogs in the same bag they come in first they will taste even better 🤤
@@puente122870 cool tip

Hello from Texas😅
Boil hotdogs. Heat corn tortillas in hot oil. Slit hotdog lengthwise. Insert cheese. Roll up in corn tortilla. Eat with La Victoria geen taco sauce as a dip.
Looks delicious ! 👍😋👍♥️
Microwave the tortilla to soften first, works to
We use flour tortillas and we split the hotdog down the middle and stuff cheese in there before rolling in the tortilla. Mom always called them Chihuahua dogs.
Crispy dogs...yum.
Im from Albuquerque never heard of this but wanna try it. I’ll first use white corn tortillas sliced of cheese yum bomb! Your funny I’m the same I wash everything I buy from the store even a bottle of mustard my pack of cheese a bag of chips lol bc you don’t know who touched it and what they have!!!
Be sure to let me know how they turn out. Greetings fellow burqueno. Exactly you never know lol

We call then hot dog flautas 😊 yum!
As a Mexican, the only proper Mexican hotdogs are SONORAN HOTDOGS. Nothing better.
I use a fork to hold it ip to the flame and get some burn marks y vamanos.
In kansas deer call Crunch puppies
this is so easy that this old man gringo can do it
Those hot dogs are pretty long though. They would probably touch my cervix.

If you warm them in the microwave they won't crack like that but I'm going to try that thank you ✌️👍💯
