On April 15, 2023, police monitoring parking ramp cameras observed people blocking stairwells with belongings in La Crosse, WI. They eventually encountered a woman screaming from an elevator, where she attempted to use drugs upon seeing the officers. During her arrest, she resisted, smearing the drugs in the officer's face, and ingested them to prevent confiscation. Following the arrest, the officers noticed that both their gloves and the woman were damp, with surveillance footage later unveiling the reason for this.

I live in Minneapolis and my company services lacrosse. After seeing all these body cam footages I'm literally more scared of Lacrosse than I am of Minneapolis. When you don't struggle with addiction, the thought of being this glued to something is unfathomable, almost silly. When you're really dependent on it, you get anxious from just the idea of being separated from it. It's crazy to think I was once at the doorstep to a life of homeless and jobless alcoholism. Who knows where od be today if I didnt get the help I needed
My cousin unfortunately lost her battle. She got clean from the hard drugs and something happened that she would not talk about and if anyone bought it up she was ready to fight. She then turned to alcohol and Mary Jane and unfortunately passed away two years ago. We tried and tried to get her to talk to someone but nothing worked. So I know whatever it was, was very bad.

(I’ve been sober 7 years but am a former addict myself, and I’ve been around all different types)
I had a family member who was this bad and it tore us all apart because we knew she was a good person deep down and that when she is sober she is the sweetest most caring person. We finally got her the help she needed and away from it all but something happen and she refused to talk about it but this time it was alcohol and Mary Jane. They told her to stop drinking or she would be dead within five years. The day before she passed she was so yellow everything was yellow and she was so, so big she came and made peace with everybody went home and never woke up. The coroner said he has never seen the inside is someone so bad. Her liver was gone her heart was four time the size it was supposed to be and her lungs were even worse. I know this is bad but she is in a much better place she isn’t hurting anymore and free from the restraints of life basically. She wrote letters to everyone she was close with and to this day I can not open it.

Anyone who has any questions about those "this is your brain on drugs" commercials from back in the day, should just watch this channel.
I literally showed my kids that series of commercials last month: the "fried egg" one, the "frying pan smashing everything in the kitchen" one, the "I learned it by watching YOU!" one, etc.
We need to talk about the generational trama that leads to the substance abuse. You're concerned with the symptoms not the disease.
Those were mostly targeting weed, which was stupud because weed does nothing like this to people. Meth, crack, heroin, fent, all of these just take common sense to know how dangerous and harmful it is to take those. Weed and liquor are far less severe drugs that require a more nuanced approach, where it varies from person to person how to use and not abuse them. For some people it means don't touch the stuff, for others it means only in very small amounts, and then there are the people who are stoned 24/7 and nobody can tell, or the functional alcoholics who start their day with a drink and show no signs of intoxication. The old DARE and war on drugs ads were a failure because they just threw blanket warnings on drugs that are not on an equal level of risk and addictiveness, weed, shrooms, and LSD shouldn't be treated the same as meth, crack, and fent. Some would argue even coke isnt on the same level as those other drugs.
Basically my point is, those ads sucked because they had no nuance, and then when a teen would try weed and see that it was nothing like the commercials, they would assume the whole thing was bs and not be as apprehensive about trying meth and the rest of the heavy drug arsenal.
We questioned those because they were made about marijuana as propaganda film. Marijuana is 1000x safer than any other drug but if you wanna know what fentanyl, meth, or any other addiction is like this channel has plenty of great examples.

Reagan closed them all down and then cut funding for secure, monitored, community group homes that housed these people so they weren’t homeless and creating a danger for everyone involved including themselves. If the US could think about policy in the long term, not every 2-4 years, then maybe our society wouldn’t be filled with dead bodies in the street, homeless people, mentally ill people, school shooters, pedophiles, gangbangers, and societal rejects.

I'm 64 and worked Psychiatric but I never really understood addiction.Then years ago I was taking Klonapin and became addicted.
Now, you go through hell so if I took more then no suffering.
But I knew better and set up a tappering program and in 15 days I was off and the suffering was minimal.
Why people want to experiment with dangerous drugs is still beyond me.
Amy whinehouse the singer mad the mistake of not tappering and the siezure killed her.
COLD TURKEY is dangerous and stupid.
@ivanleelivingston4902 yes exactly! Especially going cold turkey off of benzos which klonopin is one and alcohol. You can die from either of those without tapering off.
Any other drug/ substance you can quit cold turkey.
But the pills my mother gives me don't do anything at all.
