Great video. Boxes like these in my shop and vehicle will help me swap out tool load outs for work. Awesome and much needed video.
Glad to help
Right on time guys! I just ordered some sysdrawers! ☺️
Perfect!
Great video. Can’t wait to get the plans. Thanks
Glad you like them!
Sedge, the 18mm or 3/4” spacer for the Sortainer in a Sys-AZ is the type of little tips and tricks I come here for.
Thanks Sean
Fantastic video guys! Just convinced me to order the LR32 system
WICKED cool .... THANKS for being part of the SedgeTool community !!!!
Love my sys-az drawers. nice having one tutorial that goes all the way through. I followed the instructions and built mine with the top all the way across :(
Great to hear!
Another great video guys, I have just invested in the LR32 system and the 1400 router after months of watching your build videos, I have just used them to build my custom walk in wardrobe for the wife, I have to justify the investment to the wife some how, secretly it was so that I could build this type of draw unit system in my garage.
Wicked COOL Craig !!!!
happy belated/early birthday big d.
👍
Great job guys. Yep, your wall is better than mine. I don't have enogh toys yet.
You can do it!
Been a big fan of the SYS-AZ, Currently have 3 cabinets fully populated and getting ready to build a 4th. Mine are just the fantastic baltic birch plywood without the fancy-shmancy edge banding. Good tip on the 3/4" spacer under the base sortainer and the 3/4" pullout for placing your drill and such. Those little things you share with us is the reason you pull in the big buck$! Wicked pissah!
Wicked !!!!!!!!! Thanks
Just made my first cabinet for the AZ drawer slides. Won't be making as many as you have to fill a wall, but mine will be on 2" wheels so can move around in the shop. Went well and your video was extremely helpful. The Festool instructions alone may not have led to the same outcome. Thank you, Sedge!
That is awesome!
I got one of those three drawer systainers. I held off for a while because of the price, but now I'm going to be getting a second one. They're incredibly helpful for organizing and taking what you need out when you need it.
That is awesome!
I held off on them until right before the price increase this year. Got two of them and, ironically, used them at my desk indoors since they look nice and held a bunch. Like them so much I got two more for the workshop. They hold a ton of stuff!
@@BuckRogers2491 yes! I was very surprised by how much I could fit in it. I wasn't expecting that at all.
I just got a 3 drawer Sys and it is a great addition to my workshop.
Thanks bro! This is exactly what I was looking for. 💚
Glad I could help!
Great as always! The things you have taught me just on the Domino is amazing! Some things I'm guessing I would have never known... It has been said, "once you get that first Festool Sustainer and tool your hooked! Well I have the bug now full on!
Glad to help!
The spacer in the drawer base so you can access the bottom drawer in the sortainer, now why didnt I think of that? good idea Sedge, solves the issue of the sortainer bottom drawer access for me now.
Thanks Steve !!!!
Wow body... I believe you have all Festool technologies.. Good for you 👍
Thanks
tagranme, do you ever catch Sedge's CZcams show on each Friday at noon (eastern time) on Festool Live (Festool USA, or as fans of Sedge and the team call it, "Festool Friday")? Being a long time employee and Festool trainer, Sedge has a slight advantage over us mere mortals in acquiring Festool technology.
Oh, I rather like those quick-clamp clips shown at 12:13. Do tell...
And a tip for aligning rail to fence for those that don't have a square with pins in them 4:29, you can do like I like to do and use a 1-2-3 block on edge as a feeler gauge -- try it, you might like it.
cool ... Link in description for clips
Hi - I’m a big fan of your channel. You made me become festool fan and -nerd. In this and other videos you are using a measuring tape/band with small LR32 diamonds printed on the band/tape. I was wondering where I can buy this specific measuring band/tape? Can you pls. provide me with a link to where I can purchase one of these? Thank you in advance and I’m looking forward to follow you going forward. BR Jens
Fast Cap tape I use ....amzn.to/3Sc971V
I put my post it’s in sticky side down. They are always tight the first time 🤪
I know you do brother ....LOL Matt
Fantastic video Sedge! Very informative and explains a lot! One question I did have, do the SYS-AZ drawers have tabs to lock the systainers in so they don’t slide around or are they a tight fit? Or is there a little movement?
there is a little movement
Great job guys… already have some plans..? Was looking for them but couldn’t find them
Plans will be available soon....
@@sedgetool 👍👍🙏🙏
Brian can you please explain how to set up together mft3 and mf1000 together to be level. I can't get it level at the connection between them.
there are adjustment feet on both.. the mft/3 has only 1
At 9:00 what is that trimming tool you used? Does it come with the edge-banding kit? Never seen that before. Thx
www.festoolusa.com/accessory/499896---kp-652
comes with the Accessory Kit
I don't understand your comment about putting the base between the sides. The weight is attached to the sides - and if the base is sitting on the ground then the sides need to be on top of the base, like on the Festool diagram, so the weight is transferred correctly to the base. What you have done is great if the unit is to be hung on the wall, say with French cleats, attached to the sides. Peter Millard has a nice video explaining the various stresses - and talking of Peter - how about inviting him as one of your guests in Shop Talk?
Thanks Julian...............
I've been a supporter of Peter Millard for some time now, he's a great cabinet maker with years of experience and knowledge. I have twenty drawers that I have collected and will be building ten cabinets identical to these, but the tops and bottoms will be on the top and bottom and the backs will be enclosed. The reason is at some point these will all have to go, and when they do, they can be converted into a Sys-Port by just adding casters to the bottom. This will make them more sellable than just a wall unit would be, well that's the plan anyway. I hope this makes sense.
All the Best, Chuck.
Gosh! I wish I had watched this before cutting all my plywood. My tops and bottoms are going to be on top of and below the sides. My back is going to have to be attached to the back because I cut everything at 380. Uhggg! I think it will be fine. I did 928 for a balanced panel. 463 for my tops and bottoms. 427 +18+18=463
You have an impressive storage wall! You must know someone at Festool. 😁
I wish!
Yeah, it's some clown on Festool Live. 🤡
Just kidding Sedge, much respect here!
Great video, I assume you do not glue the cabinets. Is that correct?
That is correct Charles......
Sedge when you use a tape measure to make a mark, you should run it along the edge to ensure the tape isn't on a slight angle, putting out your measurement by a hair (or more).
thanks for the tip !!!
So was the loose spanner not 427mm? Wasn't sure if you cut the tight one longer or not. You commented to install after, mostly curious what your tweaking was?
Jason... I could have cut it at 427mm and it would have been fine ..This is just an old habit of mine to accommodate for imperfections in the plywood ...... happens more often then you think...I hope this makes sense...
Curious, what is that PDC drill with orange buttons?
Ahhhhhhhhh .. good eyes . That is the original PDC under the brand name of ProTool...at former TTS company......made the Name / brand switch to Festool around 2013 time frame......The one I have is still AMAZING !!!!
Sedge, I'm building 10 of these cabinets in about two months. I have poured over my configuration many times to try and ensure that I'm going to be able to fit my forty plus systainers. According to the SYS-AZ Drawer instructions (as an example) the T-LOC SYS-4 should occupy eleven holes, does that include the hole for the black latches? Also, what are the hole dimensions for the SYS3 rails? I can't find it anywhere if I wanted to pre-drill holes using the LR-32 system for them. I know the cabinet width dimensions are 417mm for the rails vs 428mm for the SYS-AZ drawers, but I think a 4~4.5mm shim on either side might work to be able to utilize them in the same cabinet.
P.S.
I got a set of rails from my local dealer and the hole dimensions on center are from the front of the rail, even with the systainer's front they are, 30mm, 97mm, 93mm, 110mm. Very oddly spaced, and except for the first hole which is round (6.3mm Dia), the other three are elongated (6.3mm tall x 13.3mm long).
Sedge any help will be greatly appreciated. 😁
All the Best, Chuck.
Hey chuck.... The best advice that I can give is to build your cabinet whether for the rails or the sys AZ drawers and bore top to bottom 32 mm hole system with a 5mm bore...... then go from there .... yes a shim does work ....
Hey Sedge, I believe I have it all figured out. So, you think shims will work, good. I'll be attacking this in about 6 weeks or so. I'll let you know how the AZ Drawers and rails work together, or at least how I decided to implement it.
All the Best, Chuck.
Do you have any videos or plans for base cabinets?
Not yet
So I’m a bit confused about the Sys Screws. I have found 6.3x11.5 and 6.3x13.0 and 7x13. The latter claimed to be a Blum screw but what is the actual standard?
5 x 12or 11.5 to be the standard
What if you don’t use edge banding? Will that change your measurements for the LR32?
nope ...always 58mm from the front of the cabinet for the first hole for the SYS-AZ drawer slide..
Tooth and Nail records!
Are they still around? If not that’s an old tshirt. They had my favorite bands. Mxpx started there.
still around
@@sedgetool I looked them up and started following some of their artists! Awesome! Thanks! Stay sharp, wicked sharp
AWESOME COLLECTION, how much did it cost you?
Quite a bit
You showed the two lines of holes 58mm and 118mm from the edges - with 224 in between the rows. But you also edge-banded the 400mm so surely it becomes 401mm and thus gives 225 between the rows of holes? Have I missed something?
good eye .....as long as you have 58 from front and 224 between holes
They need to make a new drawer that fits the sys large.👍🌴🇨🇦
cool...I will let Festool product R&D know
Did the plans ever get posted anywhere?
No they did not .. my plans guy moved
Did you ever do the plans?
coming soon...still working out a few issues ...
The metric system drives me crazy...I come up with imperial that's what I know...just sayin...I need a MFT bench forsure...you guys are super accurate forsure...hence metric system...but I can be just as accurate with standard measurements....thanks for upload...
Right on
Sedge, did you use any glue or was this cabinet held together with only dominoes and screws?
Mark...I did not use any glue...
Thanks! 😀@@sedgetool
How can I get the plans ?
working on them..
Try opening the bottom drawer on the 3 drawer systainer while it's in the AZ.
School boy error
That is what the 18mm or 3/4” spacer for the Sortainer in a Sys-AZ that I mentioned...
Always watch full video before commenting 😂
Great product I own 80 of them as you know from my channel but that doesn’t matter I don’t have 100,000 followers!!!😂😂
Cool
Thousands of $ in flimsy plastic boxes, takes up a whole wall. You have to take a box out, find a place to put it down, undo the latch after you figure out which way to turn it, open the lid to even see what's inside? Not better, IMO. I have a Domino, with it's Festool box, and one for the tenons. You need more than 3 SF of counter space just to access the tool & pins, plus the space to store when not being used. The tool is good but delicate, but the boxes are a waste.
Good For You
@@sedgetool It looks like there are 16 boxes so roughly 107CU'? At $300 to fill each is about $5,000 plus maybe 9 sheets of plywood. For about the same cubic footage, I store 30+ power tools, 30+ boxes (50lb type) of fasteners, hundreds of lbs of bolts & large fasteners, trays of plumbing fittings, nipple trays, large amounts of plumbing, electrical, cabinet supplies, and over 500 types sorted screws & nails, ~50 per drawer each accessed with a single motion. I doubt I've spent more than $200. So arguably 10x the capacity, 5% the cost, better access, and takes up less wall space.
Festool is the Louis Vuitton for men.
OK
Yes it is but you probably payed a lot less for all the equipment :-)
💪
Meh.
Take Notes Brother !!🤣🤣
Meh

I was using these drawers for the past 3 years, in the workshop and the bus. Terrible quality, terribly made, very annoying and I hate everything about it. Lately I made my own drawers from plywood and quality rails - it's cheaper, more sturdy, smooth travel, self-close system. I would never ever go back to these plastic ones...
ok
