  • Thank you so much to my hosts in Libya for providing me with a unique and eclectic experience during my brief stay. The Ministry of Tourism meeting was truly informative and I look forward to furthering the development of tourism in Libya back to what it was before.
    *This video is my own personal experience in that I had in Tripoli, Liberia and only Tripoli. I stayed with a family who's home was surrounded with a tall concrete fence and barbed wire, for safety. Two of the friends who showed me around were equipped with hand guns for my safety, which made me feel very comfortable since we were out until 9pm exploring Tripoli and it's dangerous to be out at night. I did not travel around anywhere else in Libya due to the current situation and can not speak for other places. Please take this video as an educational experience about Tripoli aside from all the negative news we see/hear every day. Political or negative comments will not be welcome. Just enjoy :)

    Hello dear,
    I appreciate your video and as a Libyan who looks English, I know what you're talking about, but the different is I am Libyan born in Benghazi, I have lived in the Uk for a while and I still speak perfect benghazian arabic. I can get away easily with pretending to be a foreigner, but I also feel sad to see real foreigners so terrified, it's honestly not as bad as you think it is, I wouldn't say over the top, but yes, it isn't as safe as it should be, without a doubt, but Libyan people are so kind, believe me I know because I grew up in the UK before I came back so I know that strange feeling of being different and unsafe. But I want you to know that I am from benghazi and I and my father know so many people in benghazi and they are amazing people. Tripoli people are amazing too, very friendly and kind, please remember us as kind people and not what the western media "says" we are. Best of wishes, I know it's a bit of a late message but I hope people can find it useful. Lots of love!

      @maryryanroman2399 Před 5 lety +1

      Phoenix Deux Yes, Libyan people are very nice and giving. It's always a good practice to not judge a country by its government. Always look at the people. The government may not be good, but the people usually are good and kind. I have a Libyan friend living in Tripoli, and he is an amazing and generous and kind man. And he is a proud Libyan.

However, Libya have been undergoing thought sever regime after Gaddafi's fall and thus you (any libyan/non-libyan) have to take a caution visiting Libya now days. I have known the places from Egypt boarder to Sabrath-Libya as I usually travel by car in Libya (from 1990 to 2014), there are such a lovely and attractive places to visit (but wait until the Libyan regime settle down).

    I wish you good fortune, and I truly wish that you will get the chance to visit my country when it's settled down from foreign interference because of resources in the future. I really pray that thing's will become better in the next few years and I would really recommend the east, like "Shahaat" and "Derna", the ancient ruins in the mountains and waterfalls and much more. Also you have to ride a horse here or at least go to see a show.
    I can understand your anxiety, as I have lived in the UK and travelled all over Europe, I can sort of accept the fear that some western and European people feel when visiting our countries, although at the end we have families, we love each other and we care for kindness and peacefulness. We are still human beings and have the same feelings as everyone else from our beautiful planet. It's just unfortunately, politics, power and resources have ruined our reputation. But it's okay, at the end we all smile.
    I wish you the very best in your endeavours and I am sure to say this, that Libyan people welcome you back.
    Stay safe and best of luck.

For me, the experience is worth the risk. Marriage is a risk, birthing a child is a risk, flying is a risk, living is a risk. You have to pick your battles.
