    always fun to build a pc from scratch.. i remember going all out.. spent $4000 on my setup 5-6 years ago.. 2700x.. x470, 1080ti, duel 360mm radiator, 13 RGB thermaltake fans, RGB t hermal take water blocks for the gpu and cpu, thermaltake full sized view 71 glass case... bose qc 35 2 heaphones, 27 inch 1440p curved monitor, chair. desk.. keyboard mouse rgb... Been doing this for 26 years now.... i spent i think $1100 on just the overkill watercooling and fans haha, because well ive been watercooling for 26 years, and after 20 years using the same dangerden maze water block and eheim pond pump and heatercore that i just modded to work on new sockets... it was time
    Upgraded the pc a little to a x570 and 3800x few years ago... but now i think im getting a 7900xt or xtx not sure, and a 5900x.. Id like to go to the 7900x cpu's but there is 0 point in getting a new mobo and ram, and a expensive cpu when the 5900x is like 200$ off right now...
    I will say this, I'll take that 7900xtx off your hands you sht on a few days ago if you dont want it

    Based on information so far AIB 7900XTX are ~10% faster than AMD reference design. Which seems to suggest the only way to go is AIB card for ultimate build. I appreciate this option may not have been available at the time, but what I am trying to say is that judging performance based on reference design could be massively misleading.
    Other thing I don't understand - 150W TDP CPU get's 360mm rad... 360W TDP GPU is cooled on air?! Does nobody see issue with that? What I am trying to say is that in order to have acceptable thermals GPUs with 300W+ TDP must be water-cooled and ideally should come as such from factory.

    • @Xune2000
      @Xune2000 Před rokem +1

      I'm betting the AIB cards are achieving that 10% performance increase with a MASSIVE power increase.
      The problems with this card won't be fixed with overclocking. It's either a driver issue that will take time to resolve, or a hardware issue that will require a redesign of the chip architecture.
      There are rumours of an RDNA3+ coming next year, so I assume it's the latter.

    • @lp9280
      @lp9280 Před rokem

      @@Xune2000 You probably right... but nobody cares about power when the goal is ultimate FPS.
      Like OK - the reference design 7900XTX get's me 160FPS on 360W and 4090 gets 189FPS at 400W... maybe. If AIB OC card on water get's me 200FPS at 480W then who cares?! I will go with more FPS every time.
      Point is - high efficiency is NICE TO HAVE, but ultimate performance is what matters.
      I am not going to see the difference either way - in fact I am still running 1350W PSU from 10 years ago when I had 2X4870X2 Quad-CF system. Back then power draw from just 4GPUs was 640W on stock clocks.
      As well don't forget that for both CPU and GPU the power consumption is not constant. What is most important is the maximum framerate they can achieve in certain complex scene. Yes efficiency may be important if you GPU rendering, but if you just gaming then really you don't care - it is going to peak in few places and the more always the better.. as long as your PSU can handle it.

    • @lp9280
      @lp9280 Před rokem

      @@Dusk007 And I guess that is partially my point - why put $200 360mm on CPU, when really the hottest and loudest part of the system will be GPU?!
      If somebody wants cooler and more quiet system, then sure I can see benefit in water cooling both GPU and CPU.
      But why just water cool CPU and then listen to jet taking off in your room every time you start playing more demanding title?!
      For me this looks like misplaced priorities... the guy who skips legs days type of thing. mahusive 360 rad on CPU and GPU cooking eggs on air.
      I mean I appreciate that so far there have been no AiO 7900s, only Asrock waterblocked one which requires custom loop (that is kind of sad as the only way I am getting 7900XTX or 4090 is if they are WC), but still that 360 rad just looks wrong next to air cooler GPU.

      If a person is so wealthy that money is no object, or they're living with their parents and don't contribute to the bills, then I can understand them not caring about how much electricity their computer uses. However the majority of people are concerned about the efficiency of their computer and how much their electricity bill is.

    Just an FYI: M-Flash can read MBR or GPT formatted devices in FAT16/32 or NTFS, but not EXT or ExFat. BIOS Flashback is limited to FAT with MBR. Every BIOS update I've done on my B550 A-Pro with M-Flash was done with the BIOS update file stored on the root of my GPT/NTFS formatted Seagate 3TB USB + Hub -- an old school spinner drive. Also, M-Flash's file manager should also be able to browse SATA and m.2 drives so downloading and storing BIOS updates to the root of those drives (via a Linux Live Session) is an option and probably faster than the flash drive salad approach ... 😆

    Had trouble flashing a MSI B550A-Pro board and in the end just used a good old 8GB USB stick formatted to FAT32 and just put the new bios renamed to msi.rom on it and used bios flashback USB port pressed the little button beside it and presto it worked. For normal bios I use a 8GB USB stick formatted NTFS and that works fine.

    7900 XTX vs 6950 XT:
    181/145 = ~1.25 so 25% performance uplift in 1440p
    113/84 = ~1.35 so 35% performance uplift in 4K.

    4:50 Mine was loose, but for some reason yours doesn't have the small blue translucent tape on certain parts of the board like mine and another CZcamsr's did. It looks like that's a used board. Also missing a lot of the plastic peel.

      It wasn't a sticker. It was a heatsink and it very much can be removed on high end boards.

    Was not the case for a very long time.

    Bought an 6950xt for 750€. The 7900xtx for an extra 400€ don’t worth it for me tho.
    7700x and a x670 asrock mobo are here. Will use this video as a guide line for my all amd build

      It did boot though, it worked. If they just installed Windows and got going it would have been fine. There was a bug with the update process, probably a hardware compatibility issue. These things can happen.
